New Rules Regarding Farming Violations

 Share

Recommended Posts

So there was this guy in the almost empty DE2 earlier today, doing his thing...

hnyHLfR.png

TL;DR: oldsp was observed farming using an alt account helpfully named oldsp_2014. He ultimately went on to get more than 10k xp (and a pretty big payday, I'd guess).

I reported him in the game violators section of the forum and the moderator said that gameplay video was needed. Nuuuuuuu, that's so unfair *hits keyboard angrily*.

But wait. How is one supposed to enter a match and procure video evidence of farming when the farming is happening inside a 1v1 match, private or otherwise, with both spots occupied by the offender?

  .

As far as I can see, a 1v1 is the most convenient way to farm using an alt account—especially seeing as there is literally no way to be punished for doing so under the current rules.  I could do it right now and even if everyone knew about it, nobody could do anything to "prove" it. At least, under the current rules....

Does anyone else think this is a problem? I'm curious to hear your thoughts.

Also, oldsp, you're a noob.

I really feel you, man. I've been conducting experiments regarding banning in Tanki for the past couple years. I have come to the conclusion that every Tanki user must be banned. No exceptions. And free dewitos for eri1.

On a related note, how can I get into noobest klan? Or how to get gf?

farming is actually not that effective these days, as one flag only give you roughly 6-7 xp points + 6-7 points for kill if 1vs1 and other have no flag score.

so 200 flags + 200 kills only give him about 2800 xp points, consider 1 flag run takes 30s, 200 x 30s= 100 min.

if a normal 20vs20 battle, 1 flag give you 200 scores, and of course, you get kills on the way to flag, so safely 300 score in 5 min,

and 45-60 min give you 2800xp points.

so of course, farming takes roughly 2 times of normall skilled play. but for people with not that strong skills, farming is still fine. by the way, you get more chance of 1000 gold to catch, but not that many crystal based on my expereicen of 1vs1

in the end, it comes to your patient,

actually fire wasp with friends are more fun to get xp and crystals.

Hmm, I don't think I understand your point...your calculations may well be correct but the issue still stands that anyone can get away with farming, and I think the rules should be adjusted accordingly.

As in, the evidence required (in-game video) needs to be something that can actually BE acquired.  :D

I completely agree with you, but without a video, there is no real proof that that is somebody farming. It could simply be his friend who wanted to have a name like his high-ranked buddy and they were having a friendly match. I agree that requiring footage is dumb, but when you're a moderator you can't just assume. Jumping to conclusions can cost you your job and it will upset many player whereas the Moderators' job is to keep players happy. The only way to report this guy is by using a sort of /vote system to vote against this player. This could call a spectator into the battle to see if it really was farming without having to join the battle yourself. Also, with Kick2* implemented this kind of thing would be destroyed because one player is inactive during the battle and one is insanely active.

I really couldn 't care less about these so called farmers.

They may level fast but they forget the most important thing: you got to really play the game to learn how to play well.

Skills just don 't come for free.

It results in pure noobs with a much too high rank for their own playing-level:

they have turned themselves into ideal cannon fodder!

Conclusion: the more of these "farmers" the better! :D

Acquiring video is not only dumb, but impossible! There's no way to get inside a battle that's full...and that's why this problem is so annoying. I totally agree with you, one solution could be that certain moderators could "spectate" battles that are marked as suspicious by a certain amount of players on the server chat itself...

This is a very good point, and one that I have never really considered. I'm looking forward to some official thoughts on this one.

Hopefully they will figure something out. It's a big loophole in the rules, IMO.

Yes, some points of yours may be true, but I think Tanki Online would prefer having generalissimos who are, as their rank suggests, highly experienced and skilled instead of noobs who cheated their way to the top. Otherwise it creates the idea that the Tanki community, even the highest ranks, is full of noobs who exploit loopholes in the rules.
