Update to supply drops in battles.

So the open testing of the new supply drop mechanism has been started on the test servers. In the one time I managed to get through and try it out I ended up with the following observations:

  1. The supply and crystal boxes drop locations are completely different to the ones we have now.
  2. There will no longer be two types of drops falling in one location
  3. Drops no longer flash and disappear after 30 seconds.
  4. Once a supply box is dropped, another one will not appear until the first one is picked up, therefore...
  5. There will no longer be piles of supply boxes in one spot.
  6. The drop locations are highlighted by a sign on the ground, that shows what type of supply drops in that spot.
  7. The indicator on the ground becomes visible as you come closer to the spot (at around 20-30 meters) and disappears when you get out of range.
  8. The indicator DOES NOT show how many seconds are left until the next box falls.
  9. Crystal boxes now have different values - 1, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100 crystals (+ 1000 gold)
  10. Like the supply boxes, only one crystal box can fall in one crystal drop location. The next one will fall after the previous was picked up.

Still to be tested:

  1. If all crystal drop locations are occupied with crystal boxes and nobody picks them up as the battle progresses, then when the boxes are eventually picked up, more valuable ones will fall. TRUE
  2. If it is true that crystal boxes don't disappear and neither do new ones fall on top of existing ones, then if the boxes aren't picked up the total potential earnings of players in that battle will be lower, because crystals don't fall, yet the battle fund doesn't increase at double the rate. TRUE
  3. If gold boxes aren't picked up and somehow all gold drop locations are occupied with golds (or crystals), will any more golds drop in that battle? UNKNOWN
  4. Do gold boxes fall on top of crystals? FALSE
  5. Do gold boxes and crystals fall in different spots now? TRUE

 

One thing I don't understand and would really like to know is why there is no countdown timer on the indicator signs on the ground. Will that feature be implemented?

I don't know how to go on the test server?

Good updates, totally interesting, and changes the game-play, making it more dynamic and involving more intense activity. :)

So the only question left unanswered is whether gold boxes will still drop when all gold box drop locations are occupied with existing golds. No way to test this though unless you have 40 people playing 999 kills on Dusseldorf all day and agreeing to not pick up golds. That, or you'd have to somehow get 10x funds in a closed battle with friends.

wasnt there a specific position alloted for the goldbox which could be in any part of the map???

Not any part. There is a specific set of locations where it can drop and one of these is selected and highlighted after the siren sounds. That's where the gold will drop.

ok so there ARE some positions that a goldbox can drop. thats a relief: i thought that gold box can drop anywhere in the map and imagining a large map like dusseldorf, this wouldnt be such a good idea!

They can't really do that, because there would be a high chance of the gold box falling onto buildings and other inaccessible areas.

no i mean make it fall on any accessible place. but even if that did happen it would be pretty cool. as all the parkour haters will join up to get gold box

So you really expect a bunch of random people to agree that one player should get the gold box and help him get it? I don't think that's ever going to happen...  :D

Just checked out the gameplay on a few maps. Yes, the battles are full of people camping the crystal drop spots with heavy hulls (I did it myself). It seems that now the only sensible option is to play PRO battles which I will do from this account and PRO XP battles from my other account. If this continues, then from now on normal battles with crystals are only going to be my crystal farming grounds with mammoth...

I think this update changed all the dinamics of the game, but it is not more strategy... everybody is sabotaging their team because of crystals boxes. I see it everytime. This could been a great idea, but in the practice this dont work... developers have to see the battles, because this is ruining the game.

This could been a great idea, but in the practice this dont work... developers have to see the battles, because this is ruining the game.

But this made more funny DMs. The problem is about of CTF and CP.

yeah, so keep dm cry boxes and remove for the rest. not a very good idea if u ask me... tank needs to come up with something to allow players to recieve 100 cry boxes and yet not have to sabotage the game for it

I agree with everyone - the update ruined the game. At least at the moment everyone is after the crystals, rather than playing the game... Looks like PRO battles it is...
