Seriously Tanki?

Sorry if this is old news I stopped playing for a while and only recently came back to this I mean who on Tanki's development team thought up of this and for what possible reason or function, it seems pointless other than to add extra disadvantages to Thunde as if they hadn't nerfed it enough already.

Captain Obvious detected  :D

Yes, you now get a penalty for self-destructing. This has been added to stop players with Thunder and Ricochet self-destructing when about to be killed to prevent their opponent getting the kill, which is unfair to other guns. It also encourages players to be more careful with their maneuvers and jumps etc. so that they don't turn over as often.

True but it also adds in problems too such as if you get flipped over either by manoeuvring or by another tank (or else have that tank push you off the side) then you either wait for someone on the other team to come and kill you which might not happen at all or else you have to lose a kill in order to become useful to your team again and also it doesn't get rid of the denying a kill problem instead it just changes it now so that players can go right up to Thunder and chances are the Thunder will end up blowing itself up thus you just denied that Thunder player a kill.

Well I don't know what kind of Thunder player plays without a thunder resistance paint  :D. Thunder is a powerful gun and can be quite OP in some cases. Splash damage is a big advantage for Thunders, so the self-damage is a way to balance its power so that players actually have some difficulty getting kills.

I do play Thunder I don't need you to explain it to me I'm just stating that even with paint it can and does happen all too often might I remind you that paint doesn't completely protect you from Thunder and you still take a lot of damage so just stating use camo as a counter argument doesn't even cut it so let's just agree to disagree and leave it there

Well, all I'm saying is that the self-damage is a feature developers added to "nerf" Thunder so that it becomes less overpowered. It's your job do avoid self-destructing and it's your fault if you get yourself into a situation where people are pressing up against you and forcing you to self-destruct, losing a kill.

I'm out.

Ricochet's self-hit is considerably low, so it doesn't matter much, but for Thunder's self destruct capability, now we are rendered helpless at short range. :(

You're not completely useless. If you're good enough - you can shot nearby walls next to your enemy so that the shot deals lots of splash damage to them and only a bit to you.

True but this entire mechanic only has to happen a few times to start becoming a problem and this entire mechanic now makes Thunder the bottom of the list of guns I would want to take into battle. But I do see the point of Tanki bringing out this update however the close range geography of most of the maps plus this mechanic now makes Thunder no longer competitive. Except on the larger maps and even then I have seen a huge decline in Thunder users (still never mind judging by what Tanki have done in the past as soon as they see hardly anyone using Thunder they'll buff it then when a lot of people start using it again they'll nerf it and so the cycle continues) Edited by COMANDER2012

OK, tell me them what's Thunder's disadvantage if it didn't have self-damage? The gun would be WAY too overpowered.

I'm not sure why you noticed a decline in Thunder users. The main reason could be excessive amounts of popular protective paints that have thunder protection included (Emerald, Prodigy, Clay), but then again, those paints are popular BECAUSE there are lots of thunders.

Has anyone noticed that when you self destruct now you lose a kill

This update has been out for a long time now. There is no need to create a topic such as this to talk about an update that was introduced such a long time ago.

If you have other ideas about what should happen when you self destruct then feel free to post in the Ideas & Suggestions section.
