Yes, this is an improvement indeed, as long as the battle fund accurately represents the additional crystal boxes that wont be dropping, it is a great thing! :lol: That will make teams play more like teams, trying to work together to win crystals at the end of game play instead of competing for boxes which proved mighty distracting to the Crystal Zombies! <_< Good work listening to people Tanki, you help us feel that we are part of the ongoing development of this wonderfully addictive endeavor, keep it up.  :D

Good but bad update, this means more gold more often but harder for new players to get crystals, sometimes i just like hunting crystal boxes when i get bored, but when i actually want to play it means more competition for more crystals, they should make it an option, like when you make a battle it has the options, that way you can be happy either way!

I don't think that this is a great update. It will make it harder for new players to get crystals in order to upgrade, and it will make it easier for experienced players to get money for upgrades. With new players unable to get as many crystals, they will stay at a low level for longer. I think this update should bring back crystal box drops

but to tell the truth I like falling crys so much. The only problem is predictable 100crys.

 

I hope that crys drop cannot predictable but continues around everywhere constantly.

Please give the idea a chance to do in Test server or so...

Just make 10 crystal boxes drop like you used to. And please, PLEASE stop changing the Gold Box system! "A gold box has just dropped"? It just drops out of nowhere without warning and most players have no chance of getting it? Smh. Just give us back the old Gold Box system, where it says "gold box will be dropped soon" and it falls about a minute later WITHOUT telling us where it will fall with the weird mark.

From what I've seen, this change is 50-50. On the one hand it does get rid of "crystal campers" :) What was happening before was that one team would have a bunch of people just trying to get crystals so that team would usually lose(very annoying if you happen to be on that team). In my opinion, this was self balancing. One team got crystal boxes, the other got the battle fund, which usually meant that team ended up with more crystals anyway. Now it seems that you only get crystal boxes if your team wins and the losers get nothing(or close to it). This is great for people who have teams that win a lot! But for the game as a whole, I would rather see crystal boxes (ONLY Crystals) return to the random drop system. I'm not a programmer, so maybe having both at once would be hard to achieve. But I think this would be a good solution. (Oh and FIRST POST!! :D)

Not the good old days when it used to fall on 700+- funds,but the other old days where they just let gold drop on a random moment,without notifications c:

But the cry update...seriously,total change,like,something I've never seen,ever...EVERRRR

Tankoline, A few days ago you updated another way of dropping and value of crystals. Like that a lot.

This one (no dropping of crystals at all) makes it no fun for many gamers who like to collect crystals. Cause some are not the best in winning a game but need the dropping crystals in the game for funding their expensive upgrades. When there is no crystals dropping and no match winning; they have nothing. So this possible change will cost you some Tankoline fans who are not strong in winning and collecting gold boxes. Take care

I think this is one of the best ideas to date. We will finally be rid of all the crystal grabbers and some mults. Now you will get what you deserve, based off the amount you contribute to winning a battle. It used to drive me crazy to do all the work just so some selfish kiddo could run around and grab all MY crystals that I earned. Crystal boxes only fall if people are making kills, so why should someone not even helping the team get any crystals.

It is time to stop teaching our young people to be beggars, and teach them they need to earn what they want.

 

MY SUGGESTIONS

 

  • Leave the battle fund to build as is does now. This way there is still something worth fighting for.
  • instantly pay players as they earn crystals The same way XP is payed out. (for example 10 crystals per kill, which is the current reward. 1 kill, 1 ten point box falls.)  
  • make the gold boxes fall in more random places instead of 2 or 3 spots. This will work well with the instant drop idea. With only a few known gold drop locations players, again will just camp on the drop points waiting for an instant grab.

Collecting crystal boxes has been a part of Tanki Online from its earliest stages. However, it didn’t affect gameplay that much – boxes contained a modest number of crystals and collecting them wasn’t worth the time and effort. Plus, they would disappear over time. When developing the new drop box logics, we modeled crystal drops after supply boxes, without assuming that it would escalate the situation. The open testing didn’t unravel this problem either, as each account there had more than enough crystals so there was no reason to collect crystal drops. On release day, we thought that the complaints of tankers were caused due to doubled battle funds, which result in a larger number of crystals in drops.

 

However, we’ve recently changed our attitude towards feedback. We’ve started assessing and analyzing constructive feedback in the forum, counting positive and negative replies, and monitoring battle chats. This has helped us identify where the real problem lies. And we thank you for that!

 

That is why, as of today we’ve removed crystal boxes from the game as an experiment. Crystals that would have dropped in boxes, will instead be added to the battle fund as many of you suggested. Gold boxes are dropped right after the notification, so as not to distract players from teamplay, and give everybody a shot at catching the gold. The experiment will be on until next week. We will then specify our next steps.

 

Enter the game, take part in battles and make sure you tell us your impressions below. Any solution can be improved, and your feedback will help us do that!
