Join the experiment with crystal drops

Since this experiment (and the feedback) is about to end, let's conclude the most common opinions, shall we?


 


MANY (but many) players - mostly low ranks - want crystal drops back.


 


MANY players - mostly high ranks - like a no-crystal-drop game.


 


MANY players think that this lack of drops will eliminate mults. WRONG!


 


MOST of the players who wrote here admit that no drops equals somehow with less fun.


 


SINCE THE ABOVE ARE MORE OR LESS WHAT'S BEEN SAID, THE ONLY WAY TO HAVE ALL SIDES (ALMOST) HAPPY IS "BRING BACK DROPS WITH LESS / OR LOW CRYSTAL VALUE AND GOLD WITH MORE TIME TO PREPARE".


 


 


Furthermore, I would like to remind to the high ranks that they were not born generalissimos, they started as noobs with M0 weapons running blindly and clumsy to get 10 or 20 crystals to upgrade their gizmo. It's polite and noble not to refuge this opportunity for today's low ranks.

I don't like it.  If your team is not doing well, then you will not get very many crystals.  But if you can collect the boxes you still have a chance, especially with the different amounts in the boxes.

 Your post does not add up. 50-13 takes time + another hour - you are still winning at 51-33.

 

Start thinking about battle tactics and earn lots of battle crystals  instead of hunting boxes and letting your team down..

 

Your team was well ahead - if attacked by a take over group etc - become flag capping  inactive and all protect your flag. A good defense will give you the win because  the take over group will get bored and leave. Then flag cap again..  

 

How come you left the battle with nothing - did you give up?

 

No more crystal boxes.

 

Judgement.Day your post below - I suggest you stop complaining and go and start winning some crystals in shorter battles

lel they were ahead because of me all the time and inactivity means that they were sitting pushing each other not even playing and waiting on that ramp there was no defense only by miracles some flags were returned cause i was involved i didn't gave up i'm not a player who plays alot of houres and at the end i don't get nothing i knew they were going to win cause they cap so quick and i suggest you to mind you're owen business and it's my decision if i want to go to short battles or not and you can't have any strategy if almost the entire team is multing if so i will tell you that i'm wrong -_- and thanks for the feedback :ph34r:

think about how you gonna get upgrades 

from looking at his rank i think he doesnt think about upgrades maybe he got what he needs and he doesnt care about the community -_- he just want to win battles easily cause upgrades now are hard to get :angry:

this update was a "i dunno for me". I wanted crystal boxes, but they were too distracting. When there was no crystal boxes, it was boring. I don't like how it says a gold box just dropped, and it drops right away. I like it like before because it gives us time to get to our places and get ready, as if it came right away we wouldn't be ready. In the end, I think crystal boxes should be taken out, because distraction from battle is a huge part of tanki. Maybe you can raise the battle fund more quickly, because whats also important is that people get crystals in battle to get better, so....

I dunno.

Noo, Please return the older style, I don't like it, this one is less motivating, you can see the place of boxes, there is no fight for crystal, the gold is dropping faster, no these changes made the game usual.

Thedevs do the oppisit of when we tell them so if 99% of tanki wants them back and 1% dosent the'll listen to the 1%.... like always

I agree now i see alot of people telling that they want crystale boxes and tanki doesnt even care they must bring 10 boxes  and let them dissapear after some time . 10 crys boxes were some of the sources of the income of alot of players in tanki !

Buy'em with all the extra battle fund crystals I now get.

 

Having said that - every one  upgrades - so we are not going to become  stronger then the other guy.

 

Tactics and skill + teamwork will make you stronger and a winner.

 

Before the update, maps where full of useless crystal box collectors.

 

No More Crystal Boxes.

You maybe understand the word "mults" in the wrong way so please allow me to explain mults are people who camp near the drop zone of crystals so by deleting the actual crystals there are no mults any more!!!!!, so however there are no crystals to camp for.... or they are camping for the supplies drops xD .

Ok, I believe one of us do understand the word "mult" in a wrong way.. But who?

 

What you describe is called crystal harvester.

They get the crystals without participating in battle.

 

A "mult" is a player (an account more accurately) that enders a battle in order to sabotage it for the sake of the opposite team (in which the other, main account is activated). Thus, by sabotage or just inactivity, favors the opposite team.

A small part of a mult's role is to harvest crystals, but mainly it just stands inert, occupying a place in the team's composition.

Now, when battle funds raise (in case drops are added to fund division) then, the stakes raise too, and so the "need" (or motive) for mult action too.

That's my understanding and I think it's right.

Pro:

Team play in even games are more focused than before.

This benefits team games that are pretty even, meaning, both teams (still) have a realistic chance to win the game.

 

Contra:

In team games where one team does not have a realistic chance to win the game anymore, players of the trailing team may leave the game early.  Members of the leading team are left with the time wasting task to wait until the time limit is reached (CP and team DM with time limit), or wasting time to move around to find the few remaining team members of the trailing team (team DM with kill limit only). In the past, the trailing  team can still get some Crystals boxes, thus are tempted to stay longer in the game.

There is a shift of effectiveness from short range weapons to long range ones. The severalty of this shift depends much on the map type. Crystal boxes, especially when they fall in great numbers in close proximity simultaneously, cause many players to fight in the vicinity of the Crystal boxes. This favors short range weapons. To keep a good balance between short range and long range weapons in each game increases the intensity of fighting. And this is what distinguishes Tanki from other games. If more and more people switch to long range weapons, Tanki moves to the direction of a sniping game, and thus become much less attractive.

Different roles especially in DM games:

Falling Crystals add to the variety of roles that peoples can adopt in DM games.

The more skillful and/ or better equipped players tend to focus on the battle fund.

The less skillful players and/ or players with inferior equipment tend to focus on Crystal boxes.

This combination adds to the intensity of fighting. If everyone moves into hiding after each shot, the waiting time between two shots will increase significantly. Certainly, the opportunity to shoot a lot at different opponents within a short time distinguishes Tanki from other games that have better graphics/ strategic setup/ tactical variety. Tanki was, up to this update, a Fight! (now) game.

(Slightly off topic comment:  aggregating  ten 10-Crystal boxes to one 100-Crytal box has a negative effect on players’ satisfaction.  If I get 4 out of ten 10-Crystal-boxes, I am happy. If I get zero, I am unhappy. To get more players happy, Crystal boxes should stay in smaller denominations, e.g. 10 for lower ranks, 20 mid ranks, 30 higher ranks, but fall simultaneously in greater numbers).

Great to see such a huge response.

and good to see a poll on this.  Would be good to see the results.

 

Having read many of the posts its clear we have 2 sides - those who like collecting crystals and those who favour keeping everyone fighting for the team as much as they can.

Obviously DM should keep the crystal drops because it's up to each tanker what they choose to do.

So we seek a compromise to keep both sides happy:

Option1 go back to the box of 10 crystal drops and original goldbox notification - we did not have much complaint then and I prefer the drops to be more random in time and location.

 

Option2 bring back the box of various crystal drops 1 to 100 but only have this in a 'batch' once every 10 minutes - so we see a  feeding frenzy for about 60 seconds.  Also make the locations random - so we have to find them.  This way all users inc. noobs can get some crystals and keep growing but there is no value in 'camping'.

 

Option3 have the goldboxes drop in 2 alternating fashions - one predictable and with a 40 second warning - one at random and with only a 20 second warning.  Also make the warnings bigger on screen - then we all notice them - even those who play without sound.

 

Option4 make sure the losing side is given some crystals to make it worth staying - i.e. ALL players get 5 crystals given immediately for every 10 points won.  This way good scorers also get crystals. Also you get to keep at least something if called away or get a fatal error or the game is too long (100 flags) etc.
