Join the experiment with crystal drops

Just go back to the 10 cry boxes and the old Gold Box. It was all balanced back then. Hardly any mults and strong team play, mults only occurred when the 100 boxes came into the game. What happens if you loose a game what is your reward? Nothing. Crystal boxes helped the loosing team a bit in not making the whole battle pointless and making no profit. Then instead got some crystals from picking them up.

 

Also the Gold Box was fine before, the waiting for the Gold to fall was the intense part and also not knowing where it fell (When it fell in crystal drop zones). The Gold falls way to fast right now. If you died just before the notification you will miss it, unlike before you still had a chance at it.

 

Overall just put the crystals and Gold Boxes back the way they were. ;)

I played 2 DM battles with the no crystals before seeing the experiment announcement.  It was kind of weird.

 

I can see how in CP and CTF crystals, especially the 100 boxes, get to be a total distraction from the game.  100 crystals is worth stopping what you are doing and going after it.  This is bad for CP and CTF where you need to work as a team to win consistently.

 

In TDM and especially DM, there is nothing to do but kill other tanks.  Going after crystals adds a little more to the game.  Sometimes I get more crystals from drops, sometimes from kills.  Sometimes others are trying to collect crystals via drops instead of kills too, and then the competition becomes picking up the crystals AND killing each other.  In DM, the drops totally add to the strategy and dynamics of the game.

 

Crystal drops: I would rather see more drop point locations on maps and more drops of 10-50 and fewer 100s.  100s are like mini gold box pile ups (still fun, but at the end of the battle, 100s are all that fall).  Make the height of the drop (time you can see it) proportional to the crystal amount (lowest for 10, highest for 100).  Get rid of 1 and 5 for any battle over Master Sargeant, because then they are a distraction, but I can see how at low ranks having more boxes fall would be more fun.

 

Gold Boxes:  I don't like the predictable drops for the gold box.  1/2 the fun is having to guess where it will fall and sometimes being right.  With the drop location marked, everyone puts landmines down and it turns into whoever can jump hack and get on top of the pile of tanks gets the gold box.  The combination of strategy, skill, and luck has been reduced for getting gold boxes, IMO.  My recommendation is similar for gold boxes- all modes, remove the drop location (no predictable gold box drop).  For CP and CTF, drop the box immediately and let people get back to playing.  In DM and TDM, add the 30-90 second delay and make guessing when and where it will drop and when to activate supplies part of the game.  What about variable amount gold boxes?  1000 crystals at low ranks is a HUGE amout, but when saving up for M3 anything, it's like 0.4% of the price of anything... so less excitement as rank goes up.  Remove the number from the gold box so it's just a big crystal and noone knows how much it will be worth.  When the gold box is caught have a graphic (like when someone ranks up) that shows who got it and the amount the gold box was worth.  That would be pretty fun.

quite right as we rank up the gold boxes become less important. if i am in a cp battle with 999 points to collect and i am in the first 2-3 ranks i am going to get 2-3 gold box worth crystal anyway. the crystal boxes are just bonuses if they are of 10 crystal worth. u collect them when they are in your way but focus on game, u don't go running after them because in an intense battle chances are that you will be killed before collecting  them.

Crystal boxes being added to the fund sounds good. Though I hope Gold Box drops will be put back the way they were. Besides, "Gold box will be dropped soon" is classic now. :P

i agree the new god box system is crap i was in my garage when gold dropped please but the new gold box system back

The bigger amount in crystal box was fine , kindof ruined game play but as it was new so that has chance of getting better 

In the new update , i expected that atleast low rankers wouldnt join higher ranks battle  as there are no alot of drops ( the reason they usually join )  but I saw that they still ruined my games . So its no use 

 

If a guy plays a 100 flag battle and he leaves at 99 flags or power failure or internet problem ( he il go crazy anyway ) but if atleast drops are there then his crazyness might have a recovery

But atleast let the players decide if they choose to lose all that they worked for cuz they couldnt stay till end . 

Most of us have a life , kindof all do to whom somethings are important than the fund , 

so best is we can choose the game play we wish for 

Telling us to play small battles if we can't finish it isnt a solution

We are players you are developers , you dont play at all mostly , so just do what we say 

Give us tons of choices at the same time . 

 

And for the record , i took 0 golds cuz

1: many of them fell for when i was killed

2: i hate the notification too much to even try for it -.- ( really it sucks so bad ) 

You just removed the only good thing in game

once upon a time when there was no gold or crystal boxes, players had some skill...but to the present day players can't even shoot with their turret, unless fighting for a crystal box which is 1 meter away. How do i know this? Been here a while and i have seen it happen.

There is no competition in normal game play upon who is better. People go happy for a 100 box kindof same much as gold . 

whats so wrong ? if you dont want drops then just go pro

 

I think its a good idea with 100 drops , those who want it can die taking it  , those who sacrifice it get to snipe and kill .

Please tankionline !! ruining this super cool game well not with such a stupid update! the gold boxes let just one minute after coming to call, but also with 10 crystal boxes I'm happy! and yes indeed, everyone wants that 100 boxes, and am no more than normally played ... but whose fault is that? who has made that update? just 10 boxes and you make me happy! Please lesson this post! ;)

Collecting crystal boxes has been a part of Tanki Online from its earliest stages. However, it didn’t affect gameplay that much – boxes contained a modest number of crystals and collecting them wasn’t worth the time and effort. Plus, they would disappear over time. When developing the new drop box logics, we modeled crystal drops after supply boxes, without assuming that it would escalate the situation. The open testing didn’t unravel this problem either, as each account there had more than enough crystals so there was no reason to collect crystal drops. On release day, we thought that the complaints of tankers were caused due to doubled battle funds, which result in a larger number of crystals in drops.

 

However, we’ve recently changed our attitude towards feedback. We’ve started assessing and analyzing constructive feedback in the forum, counting positive and negative replies, and monitoring battle chats. This has helped us identify where the real problem lies. And we thank you for that!

 

That is why, as of today we’ve removed crystal boxes from the game as an experiment. Crystals that would have dropped in boxes, will instead be added to the battle fund as many of you suggested. Gold boxes are dropped right after the notification, so as not to distract players from teamplay, and give everybody a shot at catching the gold. The experiment will be on until next week. We will then specify our next steps.

This issue will determine the direction of this game in one of two ways:

 

  1. This is a game about collecting crystal boxes for "fun" and occasionally planning and engaging in combat when you are in the mood. So, you are always "winning" regardless of whether your team wins or loses. There are THOUSANDS of players who'd prefer this.
  2. This is a game about planning and engaging in battles where you can either win or LOSE (yes, you may lose and get nothing after hours of playing!). Winning rewards you with crystals and losing incites you to reconsider your techniques and improve your skills so you can win battles (which is the only way to get rewarded). There are THOUSANDS of players who'd prefer this.

At the end of the day, it's the developers' decision what they want this game to be about. Those who suggested having PRO battles with a no-crystals option don't get this point. It's about the definition or image of this game. When this game is introduced to other people and professionals they won't see those special-setting matches. They will judge the game by its normal playing mode, so they'll either see battles where every player is focused on winning the match, or they'll see battles where half the players are trying to win while the other half is going in circles around the center of the map collecting crystals and not really minding the course of the battle.

I understand that there are many honest players who actually play the game and try to win while enjoying the occasional pick-up of crystal boxes, but unfortunately the existence of crystal boxes promotes the proliferation of mults and lingerers and thus negatively affects the game play. So, something must be sacrificed to preserve the essence of this game.

There are two alternatives that I like, however:

 

  1. Having crystal boxes with nominal values (1 and 2 crystals for example) falling randomly just for the "fun" of collecting them. The big reward will still be in the battle fund.
  2. Rewarding players with crystals in real-time for engaging in the battle, for example you get 50 crystals for capturing a flag, or 10 for destroying an enemy tank. Those crystals would amount to the value of crystal boxes that would have normally dropped.

Pathetic customer service tankionline. Specifically:

1. SLANDERING & banning paying customers for innocent actions.

2. 10+ hour death matches with zero payoff (except vultures lurking near server shutdown).

3. Completely DEFLATE fun from Gold Boxes by eliminating suspense.

 

Any single one of these will lose tankionline customers (including my sons and I).

Unfortunately, all three may spell permanent implosion to tankionline.

The Beginning of the End.

It was fun while it lasted.

 

On the bright side, my wife has been begging me and my boys to get a life outside of Tanki.

This is for the best. Good Bye (and my wife adds, GOOD RIDDANCE!).

 

PS: This message documents the loss of several high-ranked paying players. Permanently.

Well I suggested the 100,20,50,25 cry boxes , though my idea was a little diff. but I THINK that admins like it. 

100cry is still better as u can always play this game for like 10-20 min but with increased fund u cant , bcz it no use unless u complete a fight
