Collecting crystal boxes has been a part of Tanki Online from its earliest stages. However, it didn’t affect gameplay that much – boxes contained a modest number of crystals and collecting them wasn’t worth the time and effort. Plus, they would disappear over time. When developing the new drop box logics, we modeled crystal drops after supply boxes, without assuming that it would escalate the situation. The open testing didn’t unravel this problem either, as each account there had more than enough crystals so there was no reason to collect crystal drops. On release day, we thought that the complaints of tankers were caused due to doubled battle funds, which result in a larger number of crystals in drops.

 

However, we’ve recently changed our attitude towards feedback. We’ve started assessing and analyzing constructive feedback in the forum, counting positive and negative replies, and monitoring battle chats. This has helped us identify where the real problem lies. And we thank you for that!

 

That is why, as of today we’ve removed crystal boxes from the game as an experiment. Crystals that would have dropped in boxes, will instead be added to the battle fund as many of you suggested. Gold boxes are dropped right after the notification, so as not to distract players from teamplay, and give everybody a shot at catching the gold. The experiment will be on until next week. We will then specify our next steps.

bad for gold hunters, which put pause on, and when they here siren, they come here, find spot, get gold...

now are golds falling very soon, so players guarding flag have no chance to get it, and in DM its just pure luck, because i was in those situations: 1) far away 2) respawning = far away 3) and noone was there, so i could run here

this mode is good, better than no crystal drops option in PRO, as bigger fund grows, and gold drops too

i dont like this, as i want to earn crystals too, and among M4 drugging generallisimos, with my 15 1st aids left, i have no chance to win, or be at top places => get fund

it was the best before predictable drops update

definitelly hate new gold thing, but no cry drops are making team battles better (agree upper post)

I actually love this. It forces people to actually play for crystals, and not just join a team with the intention of sitting around and collecting drops, reaping easy money for others' efforts.

 

I have seen my own income dramatically increase, typically a few thousand every game I play - the funds are increasing much faster.

 

As for the new gold system, I have seen people camping just for the gold. For example, in Arena, players just sit on the top cross, and don't play, waiting for the gold. Furthermore, if you are unlucky and are killed as the gold drops, you won't be able to get it. I say the old drop time of 30-90 seconds was too long and too wide a time range, but I think a short time of maybe 10-20 seconds would be just perfect.

 

I honestly don't see why people would complain against this. If you play the game, and fight for the fund, you can only benefit from this.

ABSOLUTELY NOT! i am very low level and get very little battle fund so this sucked  like hec!
