I hope you can all take the time to listen to this pretty and very sweet song.  It really is quite lovely.

From Kane's tears of joy when he saw Hawaii, was born Poli'ahu, the beautiful white mantled kupua of snow and compassion. This song is of her heartbreak and longing when Aiwohi left her alone and in sadness on her home of Mauna Kea.

Kane - the Father of Life
kupua - demi-god/godess
Aiwohi - kupua of the island of Kaua'i
Mauna Kea - dormant snow capped volcano

When I lived in Hawaii, I used to tell stories of Poli'ahu and Pele (godess of the volcanos) along with other dieties of Hawaii Nei.  I would sing this song to folks on my tours to get them in a relaxed and receptive mood.  Teresa Bright's version is by far the very best...full of pathos and honey.

Noho me ka hau’oli  :)

Writing this and listening to this song makes me miss Hawaii...a lot...sniff, sniff.  Here are some pictures of Mauna Kea...see if you can find Poli'ahu in them as you listen to this song...I see her and she is looking at our five new dwarf planets from her snowy home.

I had a dream that I forgot something in this post.  I was going to just let it go but it has been bothering me so I added it as the last picture in the spoiler.  I hope you have the time to look at the pictures as you listen to this song.  It is a very sweet song of love and longing.

I like the movie version that Smoky posted, but this version better.  It doesn't have to deal with the itself as a movie score and goes right for the music.  I'm grateful to you and Celtic Women :) ...and of course smokeyh2 for starting the ball rolling   This one is going into my monthly rotation...almost no reason to do so since I can't keep it from playing inside my head.
