this might float your boat bye bye bye

loved this band THE STRANGLERS

just a brilliant piece of music from them

I haven't heard this in years...so good :) Thanks  for the reminder.

I like the Big Country tune you posted, but Big Country just can't be mentioned without one of my all time favorite songs; their biggie hit "In a Big Country".  Dancing in Santa Cruz at The Catalyst and in Honolulu at The Wave...I wax nostalgic.

or

Difficult choice since both are quite good, but tonight it has to be Nova Twins...so well produced.  This is the first time I've heard of them (thanks) and Hit Girl is going into my monthly rotation...I hope it improves my slaughter quotient in Tanki :)

More music from The Handmaid's Tale (S2E13).  The producers of this TV series are very good at picking slightly obscure pop music that fits, or is jarring with their story line.

An early 90's piece I haven't heard since the early 90's...very catchy tune, but I must say I'm not wild about the super well produced video portion...I never saw it before today.  I like the music just by itself much better.  The vid kind of detracts in my opinion...too much and too busy.  The images don't even remotely interface with my mind's idea of this song.

Pop hippie music...it was played constantly on the radio back in the day.  Tunes like this helped mold the hippie generation and the later 70's...impressionable youth :)

I missed a Styx concert after a show Humble Pie did at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago.  The audience was so rowdy and riotous that they kind of shredded the venue and the powers that be shut the Aragon down for rock and roll for several years...they canceled all the upcoming concerts.  The Styx concert I had tickets for was the next night, so a new venue could not be found in time and the concert was just gone.  I've always held a slight grudge against Humble Pie...I forgave Peter Frampton though.  :)

...and a re-imagining of the same tune....I actually like this one the best (I'm old)

About bagpipe music... ;)

This is really good.  The bagpipe fits so well...whoda thunkit?  The bagpipes always have a inspirational/rallying quality to their sound.  I always equated this to movies I've watched and the scenes where bagpipes played...usually battle-ish, glory of war stuff.  They carry this idea on inot this punchy headbanging music, but do with without apology.  Th guy playing does as good a job as a lead guitar shredder, but the tambor of the pipes gives the piece a whole new identity.  The guy playing the bodhran does a great job too...I like the whole drum segment...this is really a great piece.  I must listen to this more and listen to more from these guys.  Thanks for the post

Disturbing...very disturbing.  I enjoy not liking this.  It makes me very uncomfortable.  I guess that is one function of art.  It's a good catchy tune, well delivered lyrics, and a great production on the video.  I certainly want to explore this song more and find out more about the artist.   ...rough piece of music...yikes!

Keeping with the Scottish theme.

I like the music that these guys produce, but I don't know how keen I'd be to have them busking in front or my upscale department store :)

One of my favorite make-out albums, "On The Threshold Of A Dream" from the Moody Blues.  This song did particularly well while swapping spit.

Back in the day it was groundbreaking and totally mesmerizing...there was nothing else like it.  It has many changes throughout the 13 minutes and it will take you somewhere if you "Sit Comfortably" and really listen...really listen.  If you can calm your ADHD and make it through this, I will personally bestow upon you honorary Hippie status...the song really does transport you into one major facet of the Hippie/Freak, Summer of Love, Flower Power frame of mind. It helped set the stage for the coming of New Age music (mostly crap) and adds more dimension to Prog-Rock which is already happening at this time but hasn't been labeled Prog-Rock yet.  ...and, again, the best way to listen to this is with your face smooshed up and smooching with your honey...just sayin'

For the ADHD among us that just can't manage 13 minutes of quiet and focused listening, but still want a vague understanding of the piece:

After the instructional intro song "Are You Sitting Comfortably" there is and interesting poem/proto-rap at 3:36 used as a transition to the 2nd theme at 4:36 (really just a 3rd song and main theme). 5.55 sees another interesting transition to a fully orchestrated composition in a more classical vein.  8.55 is a personal favorite section...it's the first piece of music I ever played on piano.  This piano segment builds and transitions into a re-statement of the main theme found at 4:36 which rises an transitions back into a very quiet acoustic guitar restatement of the beginning of the piece at about 11:52.   Whoever put the video together did an excellent job and "groked" the music.
