I belive hammer to be very effective at every stage, expect for m3 at Generalissimo...The 3 shot clip cant compete with heavily MUed equipment making Hammer vulnerable due to its relatively long reload after the 3 shot clips are gone...I still like using it, but requires some upgrades to get a reasonable enjoyment from it

Agreed. I've stalked a few Gissmo battles and there is no time for reload.

Gismo battles belong to no reload or super fast reload weapons like twins and smoky.

Or anything on drugs.

Isida seems to be an exception. long reload but its super high damage yield keeps it in the game

I played a Polygon DM battle last night with Marshal and Fieldmarshal Titans with fire rail and twins.

Hammer didn't stand a chance.

But I've played other battles and done well. I think it is just the luck of which battle you end up in.

Update- Hammer is GREAT for kill stealing in Arena DeathMatches. Just wait for the ubiquitous Twins and Firebirds to pummel and roast each other, then finish them both off with your Hammer. If they're close enough you can even double kill.

This is a bit unfair. At M3, Hammer is a real threat on the battlefield. On drugs, it kills Viking, Hunter, and Dictator in 2 shots. Three shots without drugs... And maybe assuming Your enemies have taken a little damage already.

Like I said before Titan and Mammoth are a problem, just find other enemies. Conversely, Wasps and Hornets are your breakfast.

This is a pretty darn good turret for Polygon DM and other medium to small maps with lots of cover to hide you during the long reload.

I do think M3 should unlock at Brigadier. That's when I got it in Jackhammer. After playing for awhile, I'm pretty sure this turret runs out of steam between General and Marshal. As it is, I'm at General and drugging like crazy to get through battles.

but about what peyton said with the range, all you need to do is create a battle and shoot buildings from farther and farther until you cant see the pellet marks anymore. if you've got loads of mines, drop one at the longest range you still see marks

IDK now that I have Rico M3 I don't play Hammer M3 anymore. Knowing exactly what the range and spread of your pellets are will help you decide when to engage and when to seek other enemies, but at the end of the day, this is just not an endgame turret. I checked the rankings leaderboard and it confirmed what I've come to suspect. Gismo belongs to Twins, Firebird, Rail, Isida, and a few very lucky Ricochets.

For instance my M4 hammer can kill m3 titan in 3 shots, it is actually more deadly than people think it is including nissmos

Would M4 Hammer be worth it? Mine is currently 21/50 upgraded, but it's still a bit lackluster in terms of performance. Should I press on upgrading or save for M3 Smoky?

Depends, smoky is more stealthier than hammer, when used at the right range its a monster, i used to be a full time smoky user, at close range and ambushing, i would recommend getting hammer m4, although you would have to upgrade to 40 + to see a difference, a rebalance may make hammer more powerful in the future, but if you want to earn more points, keeping the pressure of the game going then get smoky, both are good at certain situations. Smoky m3 without any mu's is powerful enough at your rank

M3 is weak for a short ranged turret. Thunder and hammer have almost same damage and fire rate while thunder is long ranged and doesn't have to reload after 3 shots. Again it gets outclasses at M4 by twins. But that impact is really op.

  • Do micro upgrades change the look of your turret?
  • Is it possible to micro upgrade your turret into an M1?

1. - No, just makes your turret more powerful.

2. - Yes. You could fully MU a M0 Ricochet for example, and then that would be classed as "M1 Ricochet"

I hope this helped you :)

I had a PD on Hammer M3 yesterday, And I bought it. But I don't think I can use it very well yet. Anyone knows a good guide to Hammer?

Yeah, read this entire thread.

A couple of tips that come to mind....

-shoot wasps and hornets, then shoot hunters and then Vikings. Don't bother with Titans or Mammoths. You can't win.

-do NOT wander maps with one or two shots left in your clip. Empty after every engagement so that you have a full three shots for your next encounter

-after you fire that third shot, back away from hot battle zones or take cover while you wait that long reload

-avoid Isidas

-aim for the corners of tanks, use hammer's insane impact to knock off their aim

-shoot your enemies as they crest hills and top ramps. You'll be able to flip most light hulls, and spin medium ones to the side.

There's much more here if you care to dig through old posts.

I was in a similar boat. I bought M3 Jackhammer kit and was a total M3 Hammer noob.
