Having bought it at Brigadier and used it until I ranked to Marshal, I would say it is okay. 'Good' might be a stretch. Viking M3 is a great must-have - enough said. Hammer M3 is good for a few ranks but requires a unique play style which may be hard to get used to - eventually you will need to heavily MU or abandon this turret. People steal your kills a lot - you fire twice, and then someone else kills your enemy while you reload for shot three. Finally there is the Tiger paint. While visually stunning, this paint only protects decently against Smoky and other Hammers. That's right no Rail, Thunder, Twins, Firebird, or Isida protection to speak of. Tiger mostly collects dust in my garage.

If I had to do it all over, I would opt for Medic kit at Brigadier. M3 Isida is much better than Hammer.

Dude, Tiger has 15% Rail protection. But yes, it's not quite as useful.

Dude, you are right. My mistake. That 15% Rail protection doesn't feel like much when you are getting knifed by M2 and M3 Railguns on drugs, and everyone else is wearing Prodigy and Clay.

How does hammer M3 do vs a Viking M3? (Assuming no protections and no MUs for both) Can hammer destroy a Viking with the 3 shots or will it need some MUs to do that effectively?

Yes, you can destroy a stock M3 Viking with three Hammer shots. You practically have to hit the Viking with EVERY pellet though.

But in practice it's usually safer to let someone else land the first hit on a Viking since you have no idea what MUs you are dealing with... And unless you have memorized every paint, there is always the mystery of what they are wearing.

Storm is a great example. That 5% Hammer protection doesn't look like much, but when it's 5% of each shot, trying to knock out a Viking, well... Good luck.

Then there is Tiger. Hammer's nemesis. Don't even think about attacking a M3 Viking who is wearing Tiger. You might as well shoot the wall.

I think Nano is also a problem, maybe Atom too, but I'm not as familiar with those paints and can't be bothered to look them up now.

Tanki Online isn't a realistic simulator. It's an arcade. In real life you don't mount a shotgun on a tank, yet in the same way you don't mount sniper rifles, "freeze" guns, weird ricocheting guns and healing turrets onto tanks. This game is an arcade and the items are developed to be interesting and fun to use, as well as making the gameplay more dynamic. If all guns were realistic, then the game would only have Smoky and Thunder - the only two remotely realistic guns.

If you want a realistic tanks simulator - try playing World of Tanks  ;)

i think you are right and so the reason i play tanki online is that it is a arcade game that is not meant to be realistic. i also don't like playing world of tanks mostly because it is way too realistic and is very expensive personnally think that tanki is one of the best arcade games

Hi again,

After I read this, I thought that I wouldn't get hammer m3. But then i played with hammer/wasp m0 on my alt and loved it. You mentioned Hammer only in DMs, Is hammer m3 good in CTFs?

I'm thinking of getting it at Tanki B-Day and then putting several MUs on it.

My situation is that I'm seriously thinking about getting m3 hammer-hornet at tanki's birthday when I am a lieutenant general. (P.S. Don't bother challenging this plan)

The begging question I have:

How many micro-upgrades does Hammer M3 need to be reasonably effective?

-At Lieutenant General - General

-At Marshal - Field Marshal

-At Commander - Generalissimo?

Hammer M3 with some MUs is a good support weapon in CTF. You probably won't capture many flags with it yourself because Hammer can't repel the many-on-one onslaught that flag bearers invariably attract. But you can absolutely ruin the day of one or two tanks who fly out of their base focusing on your team mate.

When you say "some MUs" how many do you mean? 9-10?

In a game where there are no MUs or supplies, will Hammer preform well?

Viking m3 (254hp) + some paint with hammer protection like tiger has higher protection, than 3*89=267 dmg from hammer m3 (without MUs).Also at higher ranks there are a lot paints with hammer protections + paints like 50 (maximum hammer protection),so it is for time weapon :)

Also hulls like Dicator, titan, mamuth m3s don`t need any hammer paints to survive your 3 hits :)

And this 3*89=267 is the best example,if you miss some pellets you make lower dmg :)

Hammer M3 is good when playing with ranks of Brigadier to Field marshal, but when playing with M4 Gens. it is quite hard, unless the hammer is M4 or you drug. (my personal experience)

Can you answer that for me or is "Hammer doesn't need MUs until Commander/Generalissimo when it needs to be M3.4+ (20/50 MUs) your answer?

M3 Hammer needs at least 20 MUs to last to Marshal.

I can't speak to Wasp vs Hornet with this turret. I have only ever mounted it on Viking.

I know you have not used hammer m3 with wasp or hornet, but with your experience with Hammer, do you think wasp or hornet suits Hammer better?
