I love this turret, it's shotgun functionality, and it's power. The ability to 2 shot a Mammoth of the same M Grade with DP is amazing. The only downside of Hammer is it's reload after the clip has been used, and joining a Noise CTF just to find out that half of the enemy team has 20-40% Protection against you.   :o :(

Since Hammer is OP against light hulls and weak against heavies, and since it should be more like a shotgun, and since the alteration decreases the pellet spread, why not make the stock hammer have a wider spread? Against heavy hulls all the pellets would hit anyway since they are so big.

Yes, Hammer protection is a pain in the *ankle*. Just 10 protection means you might end up needing one more shot to finish off that tank, which can be a lot. Especially if it's a Hunter and above.

Slugger alt was probably the best one I've purchased so far. Dealing full damage at Twins range just feels so satisfying, and the turning speed isn't even much of an issue if you're used to slow-turning turrets (i.e Shaft, Rail, etc.)

Are you trying the high capacity drum?

Yea, I bought it as soon as it came out (forgot about the sale), it's really good! I advise all who have enough crystals to buy it, and mount it on a Medium or a Heavy hull. Really good for Poly CPs where you need the extra punch.

Together with Slugger, my Hammer is now a medium-ranged beast of a weapon, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Is hammer usable at m3 without micro uprageds?

I'm planning to buy hammer m3 and both alterations. Or would you rather recommend me to stick with normal hammer and spend crystals on MUs?

I'm asking that myself too  :) MUs or Slugger?

Slugger is a bit of a wild card. It gives you more range to work with, but up close, you're gonna suffer. I recommend you MU first, and Alts later. Don't MU beyond 35-40 steps because it's just a waste of crys.

Thats probably true.

So, do you think that m2alteration + ~10MUs would be a good choice?

That's probably a good start, but after, you better start MUing a bit more cuz base M3 Hammer's performance against M4s is just appaling.

Do you think shaft or hammer are the most OP turrets?

Poly CPs with supplies enabled or disabled? Slugger seems bad with low turning speed so I'm on the fence with this one.

The rotation speed penalty usually isn't a huge deal if you're using a hull with decent turning speed. Regardless, Slugger gives you a lot more flexibility in engaging targets from afar, so you won't need to worry much about the rotation speed if your targets can't even get close. You might be outmaneuvered by a Wasp on N2O every once in a while, but that doesn't feel so bad when you can send them sprawling with a well placed shot.

Your mileage may vary when using Slugger, but I'd consider it to be an improvement over the base Hammer on a lot of maps.

If any of you are on the fence about the alterations (either of them) I highly recommend it, so long as you have a high-upgraded (30+) M3 Hammer. M2 and below, just won't do, the speed is much too slow.

Here's proof of their effectiveness. I have both alterations equipped. Usually I'd be scared to go into a DM with all these souped-up M4 Russian players. Not this time!

Even those guys with the high protections against me didn't stand a chance if I unloaded the full clip on them. So long as you know how to aim well enough, you're gonna rock the battle. I haven't had this much of a good time with hammer since it first came out! It's really OP! Get it before the sale runs out!

Small tips: If you're using Slugger, keep it on a light-medium hull to turn a little better if you get caught in a sticky situation. If you're using Extended Drum, use a heavy hull so you live long enough to reload! (Unless you're camping behind a wall) And if you're using both, keep a mix of heavy for small maps and medium for larger maps. Good luck out there, hammerers. :P
