I don't think the altered smoky is any worse opponent for a hammer than a normal one. The smoky alteration really makes no difference in terms of overall damage.

 

If we divide smokys full shot cycle (in m4s case 4 normals+ 1 crit) with the time it takes (4*535+770}/1.8*5 we get a number 323, representive of the damage/time ratio for normal smoky.

For altered smoky it looks like this *alteration changes (4*705+1.2*770}*(1.4*1.8*5)=297

(The normal shot damage points are taken as the average between the min and max damage)

edit: Was charting out other dpms and realized I did an amateur mistake the 1st time, put the wrong damage average for normal smoky :)

The altered smoky is actually a tad weaker than the normal one, but it's still pretty insignifcant of a change.

I get that the higher damage/shot might make the turret better for some users, since quick kills might be a bit more common and hit-and-runs would be more affecitve There is however also the argument for higher firing rate being more disruptive to enemies.

With the Alt Hammer lose the rotaion 

But that can be coverd by turning hull { not every time though }

Still with PTS Smoky has faster reload than Hammer 

But on small maps Hammer , and on mid-long maps Smoky would be the choice i take

No and the funny thing was another hammer won the previous battle. They all have protection against fire, freeze and magnum.

Fair enough. I did mention the gun being more effective in hit-and-runs for this reason, But I personally think smoky isn't the gun to go with if you wanna play that way since you'll pretty be a thunder without splash, range and with worse damage.

And when it comes to long faceoffs or just talking about the guns overall potential, the detail really makes no difference.

Do you guys typically like the 5 round magazine alteration or does the reload cause trouble? I have been upgrading my hammer for months now and am so xcited to use it once it get closer to m4 as then I can kill medium hulls

Ah right, was about to get suspicious on an enemy; I believe this alteration is pretty powerful.

lol sorry..."magazine" is what it is called in real shotguns...clip is what ppl call them in video games. 5 round "Clip" is the alteration

Yep, I think Hammer is the only turret, for which I usually have both alts. equipped.

Looking forward to Buy Bublebee kit

Looks like need to invest another 75k also  :wub:

Ok so after playing with hammer on a lower ranked account and knowing that it could use a buff.

 

I come up with a couple ideas for a buff. The devs could give it some damage buff, or a slight improvement in the reload time in between shots and between clips.

 I would love that  :D  Please lobby for making one of the strongest turrets even stronger. I wouldn't stop using it then  :P

As I said above, those 2 alterations for hammer are life-changing and I barely played hammer before I installed both of them and saw what it can do. With slugger you barely miss any damage.  I am doing 1080 damage practically all the time even at ranges like 20-30m. Plus, it amplifies the shot's impact force since the pellets are so concentrated and you can even knock off heavy hulls' aim if you hit the very corner. While the medium hulls are gonna be playing merry-go-round instead of hitting you. 

HOWEVER, at lower ranks I can imagine that the slower turret rotation speed due to slugger (cutting it by 70%) makes it unplayable. At m3-m4 the turret rotation speed is still satisfactory with the alteration. 

 

I did a comparison chart for the damage of hammer and twins for the RU forum recently. Hammer has the alteration for 5 shots installed and thus a reload time of 2 seconds. Before the reload of its drum at 8 seconds, which takes 7 seconds,  twins and hammer have comparable damage output. However, hammer can stay out of line of sight in-between its shots and it also has that initial burst damage of 1080 at 0 seconds, while twins needs to fire for 1.5 seconds and hit all the balls to catch up. And that initial burst damage makes it a lot easier to collect kills since it can do quick work of light hulls and finish off weak enemies before others do.
