My second highest MU turret at about M3.4. I put exactly one MU into it during the sale. Mostly collects dust next to the vastly superior Ricochet and Twins.

I wouldn't say rico necessarily performs better at m4

By the way, how is Hammer M4 with the dictator combo? I see it commonly used. Is it good?

I can't speak for M4, but Hammer-Dictator is one of the best combos I've ever tried for maps like Silence and Gravity.

You can easily dive down and land on your tracks, then fight off the enemy with moderate speed and armor.

Hammer-Dictator is a great combo, although i prefer Hammer-Viking

Sorry I shouldn't have generalized. I mean MY Rico is Vastly superior to MY Hammer, which is a direct result of my experience with Rico combined with nearly twice the MU investment.

As a first time mid-ranked player I got the Fireworks kit. While I really like to play with hornet I feel like hammer may perform better with viking once I start getting into higher levels where larger hulls are more prevalent, thus my internal debate on whether to get the Bumblebee or Jackhammer kit once I reach the rank of Brigadier.

While Hornet is what I have used most of my tanki career I feel like viking may be the better option for higher ranks, plus I really like the tiger paint protections.

Now convince me!  :)

Should I get hammer or rico?I mostly play at heavy drugg wars.

Yeah for heavy drug wars Hammer will get you that kill where Rico will usually damage an enemy just enough for someone to swoop in and steal your kill.

Actually I disagree completely. A high damage turret on a high speed tank is deadly. A recent VLog featured Wasp-Hammer. I think the same applies to hornet. Run up behind someone blast them and retreat. You'll be good. Jackhammer's stock M3 Viking is good to great but if you are a Hornet user, stick with it. Light hulls do become less prevalent in higher ranks as the damage yield of most turrets make them die sooner (one or two shots from most turrets). You will actually have a speed advantage over other hulls. Just don't attack them head-on. You can have a lot of fun as the chat window fills with dying tankers swearing at you.

That's funny :) However, I tend to play maps like poly and noise a lot though, as opposed to larger maps like Serpuhov and Brest. Even then you may be right...

definitely better than smokey... again...

For close range, absolutely. But Smoky is better for firing across Poly CP cliff-to-cliff style. Smoky is also a bit better for thinning out a cluster of enemies in the pit from a safe distance, although Thunder is the weapon of choice for splashing the pit.

I've actually screwed up my alts. I have M2 Twins Isida and Fire on three other accounts. On the June sale, I bought Twins and Isida on my main, so no reason to use two of those alts anymore. Maybe retool two of those to train up on Vulcan and Thunder. I doubt I'll buy Thunder M3 on my main since M4 is required and I have other plans for crystals on my main.

It's also better than Smoky at taking on drugged-up players.

If your entire team swarms one, Hammer puts dents in them even if they use DA or Repair Kit, and if you use DD you can more or less disable them entirely.

I actually just recently started using Hammer on an alt, and I have to say... it's a pretty mean turret. Despite the fact that damage drops off at range, it's still much longer ranged than Firebird, Freeze, or Isida, but has greater per-shot damage and impact force than Twins. Having three shots means that you'll be able to take on Vikings without having to reload, and if you have multiple opponents, you can easily knock off their aim.

And when you pick up (or... God forbid, drug with) Double Damage, you turn into an absolute monster, able to mow down three small tanks with ease.

I prefer playing as an Assault or Support role with Hammer/Hornet. I say Support because you can and should assist teammates with tough (or drugged) enemies. Though you're too weak and too short-ranged to go alone, if you stick with your team you can easily rack up kills.

I think Hammer may replace Firebird as my second-favorite turret... Isida is still #1, because Isida is love.

Viking m4 is the most common hull. To kill one with Hammer m4, you need to land 99% of your pellets for a 3 shot kill (111.3 max damage vs 315 health). Hammer is more suited for support/midfield than offense.

Or for defense in CTF, since most of the time Hornets and Wasps will be the ones attacking while you put huge dents in their health.
