Night Mode for maps and Shaft’s laser scope

Shaft Laser:

I am not a sniper but I can understand the anger of Shaft users that is obvious in MANY comments on this forum.

One of the biggest challenges for me in Tanki is to locate snipers.

I like to sneak up and kill them at close range with my Freeze.

This upgrade is really unfair to Shaft users as now they are MUCH easier to find.

Imagine spending all those crystals to get an M3 Shaft, and all the MUs, and then have this happen.

If you don't get rid of the laser you should give all Shaft users a "REFUND" of all the crystals they spent on their Shaft.

Then they can buy a Railgun, Thunder, or Smoky as powerful as their Shaft was.

Well I guess SHAFT is ruined. Imagine.....a sniper weapon with a big bright laser beam projecting from it giving away its position. A  sniper is meant to be hidden and not seen like in real warfare. To bad I guess.

I am a full time shaft user. In fact, I do not own any other turret. And if I could choose between the old and the new shaft... I think I would choose the new one. It is true that the laser reveals your position, and nerf the turret a bit... but without shake, you can do incredible shots that were very hard to do before. Now is harder to stealthy damage enemy tanks, but the fact that your intentions are more noticeable cause also distractions that your teammates can take advantage of. The only tactic that is discouraged now is sitting still into bushes, always in scope mode, shooting random targets... and nobody will miss that. So... maybe the turret was nerfed a bit, but I think that this is a change in the right direction, making the game more enjoyable for everyone.

Dear All;

I still try the night mood

BUT
about the laser in shaft, I think its very bad
because its enable in sniping mood which I can snap without laser, here laser is warning the enemy about me

and when I use shaft that mean I need to hide and be a sniper, how I can do that if all people in battle can see me ??

Yes, That's what I was saying in the post above you, They can see your laser coming, so they hide where you can't see and judge when to shoot.

The shaft shouldn't have the laser i bought shaft so i could stay in a secret place the laser gives it away and the opposition easily find the shafts hiding place. This has made hard to be secretive i don't think shafts should have a laser because it is very hard to be in scope mode and kill people without them moving away or noticing they are going to be killed. If a shaft is in scope and is pointing towards the flag the enemy can dodge the laser and escape to quickly. The laser also gives away the position you are hiding so the enemy can avoid you and go a different way without the shaft seeing. This makes it harder for a shaft. Tanki should get rid of the laser and replace it with a warning that doesn't give away the position of the shaft. The laser also gives away the view of the shaft which shows which direction the shaft is looking at so the enemy knows the shafts blind spot. Please can you get rid of the laser and replace it with a warning thanks :) Blunt_knife and BiggusDikus :)

Night mode, is great, a really good addition to the game which adds a new dimension to play. Although it can be awkward when it comes to screen brightness, it is really cool and I think players would agree. Shaft, isn't too bad. I don't feel it needed updating, but the laser scope does make you more aware of when you are going to be shot. I have found problems with the fact that you can't tell if the shaft is on your team or not, however, I think that people are only using shaft at the moment to trial it, and in future there will only be one or two in the map so you will know which team they're on. Although it hasn't really had an effect in the game, it is aesthetically pleasing so can't do any harm.

i just hope and pray the developers are listening to all this

they are the ones who have the power to change things

i have used shaft since i was able to purchase my first one

now using m1 with mu and m1 mammoth

all of my ranking has been done using this weapon

my goal lately was to reach major and really looked forward to treating my self to the m2 version and m2 mammoth and the gorgeous

hohloma paint

can you just imagine how depressed i have become realising that my dream tank has just gone up in smoke

please please do something about this

as people have said

IF ITS NOT BROKEN THEN DONT FIX IT

maybe anyone using shaft now should have a waving white flag appear whenever you fire a shot

and anyone using shaft now should really consider using wasp

as it the only hull that will get you outta their after you fired

If the purpose of this modification is to penalize excessive campers, well, the goal has been reached. I also don’t like players who stay 90% of the time in scope mode, just waiting. It is an annoying way of playing.

The problem is that “dynamic” shafters are also penalized. I shoot most of my shots as soon as I reach full power or even at ½ or ¾ of the charge, because I choose my targets before entering in scope mode. If I lose the target, I cancel the shot. I almost never stay in full power more than 2 or 3 seconds.

So, here is my suggestion: laser sight and steady aim could start 2 seconds after full charge, and reach full visibility (laser) and stability (aim) in about 2 or 3 more seconds:

1) shot at partial charge: NO laser sight

2) shot at full charge, within 2 seconds after full charge has been reached: NO laser sight, aim still shaking

3) after 2 seconds since full power has been reached: laser appears, aim begins to get more stability

4) after 3 more seconds: laser reaches full brightness, aim reaches full stability

In this way fast aim snipers will have the chance to stay invisible (as long as they shoot within 2 seconds since full charge has been reached), while “scope campers” will be exposed because they can’t aim that fast.

I’d like a feedback, thanks in advance!

The shaft already has loads of disadvantages its slow turning turret, takes long to reload its impact force is low and it is bad in close fire the shaft should be a hidden weapon.    i speak from experience i have been using the shaft for most of the tanki experience and my other account Blunt_Knife has used for along time, i have only started using the other weapons since the shaft can be easily discovered.   This is a rip of to the shaft, i would like a refund if this cant be fixed because time has been spent into earning those crystals.

Nope.  First of all, there is no such thing as excessive camping.  THAT'S THE POINT. Snipe.  Find a good spot, kill as much as you can from there for as long as you can, period.  What kind of foolishness is this?  "Dynamic" shafter?  You been shamed by game play buddies into not being "manly" and hiding in the back or something?  Really?  PArtial charge is dumb, it usually doesn't kill off opponents at distance, they are on their side, not in the fray yet, not damaged yet, maybe even just spawned.  I think you might be trolling and trying to throw a bone to the other camp.  Dynamic shaft?  You'd have to stop everytime to get a bead on your target, shoot, and then scoot.  I'm calling BS here, flat out.  You can do this in frenzied battles, I have, but only when there are clumps of opponents, otherwise you just hurt them a little, they get pissed, and you're hunted down in short order, so, whatever, but no, None of this camper penalty garbage.  As far is I'm concerned, you should be able to buy a deer stand for shafts in the garage.   Again, dynamic shafting, really?

I want to ask how many people play shaft this way?

To all shafts, how many of you run around the map, partial charging shots at targets when they just happen to cross your path?

(assinine, pure and simple, stop making things up for the other camp, they already got their wish so far, and seems like even non-shafts with any ounce of dignity are also calling this for what it is, a failure and very bad idea)

I honestly don't see what the problem is, people already know all of the camping spots so it doesn't make a big difference. I love the laser, it makes me feel more active as a team member, like i'm patrolling the choke points of maps like silence and surpuhov. People don't dare pass, and when they do they get obliterated. More importantly It's fun, for everyone. Now people can't moan that shaft is overpowered.

Maybe you could implement something that can help secure shafts camouflage, for example name tags above players only appear at point blank range, this means snipers can use foliage as camouflage, and that would also help decide what paints they use.

Yes, the laser reveals your rough position, but (like mentioned) you can find ways to hide your laser. I understand a lot of shaft users like to just stare at one area, but this update only means you have to be concentrating, you need to be skillful and alert.

All in all, the developers are doing their best to please everyone, along with providing fun new features like night mode along the way.

Just got an idea. How would it be, if the shaft laser would be just a red dot appearing on the target, but not the whole line coming from the shaft? You could see that you are being aimed at, but you could only estimate a ~120 degrees wide area where it could be coming from.

I don't like the shaft update. A shaft is very vunerable in sniping mode for close attacks. Also is the range of visible area very small in sniping mode. An enemy can easily come closer whithout being seen by the shaft. With the laser on an enemy get a to large advantage on the shaft.

staff alt account ? or suck up?  thats the same bs hazel was spouting

Man my scores with the shaft were improved since the update - and I like the moving idea as I said.

Maybe ppl who can aim easly with the dancing scope, and like to camp all day preferred the old version - but its not tanki style.

I used to play mainly with shaft... I have a M1. Now it's ruined. I bought a M1 railgun. I'm waiting. It's not ok.

The laser is ok, but, in my opinion, you shoud give shaft shoots move power. Maybe double it. It is not shaft anymore... it has been transformed in a sort of railgun, but more slower and much easily discovered.

Doubling the power would be a little op, maybe reducing the reload or increasing the turret turning, or increasing the turret traverse.

I already said my peace to the devs on the Ideas section, but I'll restate here.

Shafts have been gutted.  No point, no need, they were perfect they way they were.  I don't know who the people were that complained about shafts, but they obviously never played them, and certainly not in higher ranks.  For the devs to have capitulated to this simply unfathomable and ridiculous, and yes, I believe most shaft players will either switch tanbks, or quit the game entirely.  Shame, it was really a great game and they removed the arguably most important team unit from play basically now.  No more long distance support for units going after flags, chasing down enemies with flags, no saving team mates caught up in huge battles (that one might still happen, but even then, no one wants to shaft all day waiting for a brawl to break out in order to finally take a shot), it's pretty much over.

Staff, really, rethink this, like crystal boxes, focus on game play, not complaints.  You took out crystal boxes, take out the laser.  Real fighting and if little tankers can't hack being shot once in a while, that should be their problem, you don't hear shafts complaining about getting ganged up on in every game (and they always do).

upvote to this one even ima freezer.

kinda .. tanki's devs now behave like a babysitter!!

There's something weird; my M1 Shaft is shooting completely yellow shots, the same color as M0 Shaft, when it should be yellowish-orange.

Has anyone else encountered this problem?

yes, I have, They need to fix this!
