if you are going to us Laser that everyone can see then give the Sniper a Spotting scope to see the target befor going to laser.  Sniper is not to be seen to hit a target.  Unfair for the sniper

"Of course, we also want tankers to have a fair shot at defending themselves from Shaft's sniping attacks and dealing with it effectively".

If an enemy gets you from behind with the Freeze gun, in less than a second you can't move, or turn around. How are you going to defend yourself and deal with it effectively? How is this any different to when the enemy is using shaft from afar? .... At least with the old shaft, you can still run if they happen to miss.

I find the shaft laser doesn't really make any difference, when you see the laser pointing at your tank, you still don't have time to escape. I don't care for the night mode at all, you can't even see what kind of tank or paints that your opponents are using. Rio and Silence are some of my favorite maps but now it's hard to find battles in day mode, I hope people get tired of it soon.

Things I don't like:

1) Being Frozen, let's take away the ability of Freeze to actually slow down players.

2) Being Burned, let's take away the after-burn of FireBird.

3) Being Plasma'd, let's take away the bounce effect of Ricochet.

4) Being Twinned, let's take away the unlimited artillery of Twins.

5) Being Nano-botted, let's take away the self healing of Isada

6) Being Critically Damaged, let's take away the random critical damage of Smokey

I guess we can all play with Thunder, that would make it even.

ur saying to the developers to ruin almost all of the turrets

Tankers! Our game keeps evolving. Today marks the release of two, new, exciting updates. Let’s look into them in more detail!

Laser scope for Shaft

Before this update, Shafts used to be very challenging opponents, to the extent that some tankers found them frustrating to deal with. This was mainly because an instant kill from a Shaft was impossible to predict.

However, Shaft is a turret that is totally unique in terms of gameplay. Because of that, we want to keep it in Tanki. Of course, we also want tankers to have a fair shot at defending themselves from Shaft's sniping attacks and dealing with it effectively.

Our solution is the laser scope. From now on, while in sniping mode, Shaft will project a laser beam visible to everyone in the arena. This will make Shaft attacks more predictable, and will add a new tactical dimension to the game, both for Shaft users and their opponents. You'll be able to spot enemy snipers more easily and use alternative routes to get close enough to deal with them. On the other hand, one or several Shafts controlling a narrow pass, will discourage anyone from trying to break through.

We have also removed the shake from Shaft’s scope view, making long-range precision kills easier and deadlier. Whether you are a Shaft user yourself, or a tanker trying sneak past enemy snipers, this update is definitely worth checking out.

Night mode for maps

If you're looking for a new way to experience Tanki Online, you're going to love the new Night Mode. The darker sky and textures, as well as the illuminated drop boxes and flags, will not only make the experience more immersive, but also add a whole new tactical element. While an illuminated flag will be easier to locate, it will also make your position a lot more evident while carrying it, making you an easier target to spot.

For now, Night Mode is exclusively available on Rio, Sandbox, Barda, Kungur, Polygon, Silence, Stadium and Future. Eventually, if the feature proves to be popular, we might choose to make it available on all maps.

We hope you'll enjoy these new updates. Make sure you give us your feedback; it will help continue to improve the game, making it more fun and engaging for you.

NOT Fair. I can't snick Attack or farm Kills. anymore. my gun is Shaft, and that is my only gun. and the crystal box. I want them back. is sooo hard to get money for my micro upgrades. I use to be the best player in my rank. Now they know every move that I make. and I can 360 my shots anymore :'( why can't tanki just to stay where it is. I have know tanki for 5 years. my high account do find the attack of shaft is easier to avowed. but how about the players who use's shaft. If you do keep the changes, can you at lest make the scope charge faster for an full attack damage! PLEASE.

Can it be an Opinion, to have little crystal boxes instead of gold boxes. I know you are trying to make the players to develop there tanki skills. and I know how's it feels. Is my friends, find little crystal boxes are more Fun-er  to have. For example I play "Serpuhov" in Free for all" I use's the  little crystal boxes are bate. so that the other player want to get them and I kill them for points. sometime I go for the boxes too. always player for 30 or 60 minutes and in the end of the game I got me 90-137 kill and 10-30 deaths. Game crystal 900-2000. now is too hard for me to leveler up and get the best guns that my rank an handle. Anyways I'm going to stop playing tanki for a few weeks. I don't know if I want to keep playing this account anymore. This was my most skillful account that I ever have. Now is not worth anything. Lighting_Zero Out. tanki for happyness for the pass 5 years. :D Bye

In my mind this is not harming shaft, that is only if you know how to hide your beam from your target! ;)

Unshaking view scope is perfect now, since shaft user can (ab)use it to get a clear lock on slightly/partly visible moving target ;)

Tried it and it made me satisfied! :)

Your mind is wrong.

Some of the shaft players were so annoying in the past. Those who were camping somewhere looking at the middle field or some areas of the map, and aiming in scope mode. WITHOUT PAYING ATTENTION TO THE BATTLE IN CTF. E.g. not searching for the enemy taking our flag.

I mean MY TEAM MATES annoyed me.

Those complaining that the wobbling shaft required skills are right. Now the stable aiming is much easier and I was shot in move yesterday several times in a way that never happened before. The shafts could follow me much easier than before. Now shaft users need different skills. That might frustrate some. Looking at from a HR/XP player's point of view I can tell, that now the shafts are more frightening.

The deadly accurate aiming seems nicely compensating the earlier recognition due to the laser beam. But not for those camping and aiming into a direction waiting for the prey coming.

Be more active, find your target not in scope, that way you can provide even better contribution to your team's achievement.

I used to play with shaft (M1) for several months (during Spring). I liked the sniping but did not really like staying and camping in one spot. So, I changed to the Rail. It is more dynamic and agile. I think a little more agility would help those afraid of being exposed by the laser beam. As in case of every kind of change there will be several haters, but some will find the way how to live with, some will even prefer the new. I am sure there will be a lot who cannot get used to it.

Do you not undestand the concept of a sniper?  I guess not.  Were you one of the cry babies the whined to the devs?

In fact what I was referrnig to last night is that even with M2 Hornet, some armor MU, and, double armor the shafts are taking me out with one shot. It doesn't seem possible that this should happen.

Railguns often take me out with one shot, what's your point?

Night mode is great.  Laser on shaft....not so great.  The whole idea of being a sniper is...don't be seen.  Hanging a shiny shaft of light on yourself kind of defeats the whole purpose.  I've got other turrets but don't enjoy them nearly as much as the old Shaft.  Sorry, it's no longer fun.  I do thank the developers for a great game and many, many hours of entertainment.  I was just at the point where I was going to spend some 'real' money to build up Shaft in order to compete with some of the higher ranks and heavy armor.......  but there's not much point if the BASIC features of what I buy can be changed at will.

Not much point in staying if the fun's gone so...........bye bye.

I would like to tell you that the new upgrade of snipe does not make sense as it isnt doing justice the gun

because if you understand a snipers role is to hide far away from its enemies and instantly kill them but due to the laser that wouldnt be possible anymore if you google different kind of sniper you will not find even that has a laser thats always active. If youre providing a laser it should be players choice if they wish to enable or disable it.

Enjoying the night mode.

Cheers

NOT FAIR !!!!!!!

laser scope will UNBALANCE the whole game !

Shaft in it's BEST setup (with Hull and Paint and upgraded with Crystals)   S T I L L    cannot fight against close-range FIREBIRD, FREEZE, ISHIDA, TWINS, RICOCHET.

So, Shaft-Tankers now have 1 (vital gameplay)-advantage LESS !

When SHAFT is powering-up to fire, it TAKES TIME. So THAT TIME is the disadvantage for SHAFT-Tankers as there is NO VIEW to what's happening around the Tanker. This feature is already the disadvantage. If you then GIVE-AWAY the big ONE advantage of Shaft,  then .....................    bweeeeeeeeh.

So, laser scope is a BIG disadvantage gameplay-balance.

Tanki Online Europe Ltd.  >  Why change something if it is good ??????

[About me: I am a Tankionline Lover and play every day  >  I invested Cash Money into SHAFT !   I know how Shaft game-play works into each detail and I balanced my Shaft-Tank for fun games (for myself and I help other fellow-tankers to have an enjoyable game.]  ^_^

I adamantly disagree with this change on Shaft. It takes away from the real affect of battle. Instead, when a tank is destroyed, and the city is shown, the destroyed tanker should be able to see who shot them from where.  This would help both tankers to learn and adjust combat tactics. With the stupid red line, you just take the fun out of the game. Also, what about railgun? There is no red line for it and it is just as much a sniper as shaft.

Also, I understand why crystal boxes were removed but why were all of them removed?  There still should be some to lure tankers out of hiding and induce tankers to take a risk in being shot.  Without the boxes, some tankers huddle in groups on the side of the map.

Railguns often take me out with one shot, what's your point?

Because something is clearly wrong with this update.

Even railgun rarely takes me out with one shot unless I am up close to one or someone has an upgraded M2 or M3.

Now even on Lost Temple a shaft after this update takes me out in one shot even if the shaft is on the opposing team's flag and I am at my own base just spawning. That is clearly just wrong.

NOPSsssssssssssssssssssss,   laser scope is definitely   N O T   a good thing, really NOT funny.

I HATE LASER SCOPE FUNCTION ALREADY NOW   AFTER 1 GAME IN RIO !

(Rio was my favorite Map including SERPUHOV > because these maps were good enough for me to move around with my specific (slow, heavy) Shaft-Tanki.

Why ?    now, enemy tankers STAY AWAY from areas 'that are my best tactical map positions'

>  My Shaft sniper advantage is   COMPLETELY  GONE  >  People "SEE ME  from a Mile away ............   BOOoooooooo

It's WAAY TOO EASY   to see when a Shafter is targeting.

Tanki Online Europe Ltd.  made one improvement > they stabilized targeting. (Usually the turret moves around as-if unstable). Now Targeting is 100% Stable to the selected targeting area.

BUT~~~~~~   I prefer UNSTABLE TARGETING BACK,  AND  REMOVE THIS  Laser Scope 'function'.

THEN,  if you as developers really wanna    PUSH   this   to Shaft tankers,  then make apply this function a SETTING  / SELECTABLE OPTION,  but  not mandatory.

JUST GIVE ME MY 'old' SHAFT BACK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!      (thank you)

I ASK ALL TANKI TANKERS TO COMPLAIN TOGETHER MUCH WITH ME HERE   ! ! !

For those people that say they 'hate shaft':  There's no reason to complain shaft, as each kind of Tanki Tank has it's own advantages and disadvantages in gameplay. That's just how the tankionline game is, that's it's strength and fun.

FAIL

The whole point of SNIPING is to not be seen.  You've just completely stripped that away with this update.  Probably the most ******ed turret update since I began playing in March 2014.

If you want to give a "hint" to make things "fair", then show an illuminated dot on the target's hull or on objects nearby. At most perhaps show a tiny red dot on the sniper. But to show a laser from point A to point B is idiotic. Tanki developers needs to rethink this one.  Absolutely stupid!

For the naysayers I add...shaft is already purposely disadvantaged in close quarter combat. The turret turns relatively slowly, arcade damage is significantly lower, and reload time is fairly long for sniping.  There was absolutely no need whatsoever to further handicap the turret with this update.  Experienced players know how to deal with snipers.

This is what happens when you let young developers who have ZERO actual military experience make unrealistic tactical changes to a game that is based on....wait for it....military weaponry and tactics. My guess is they thought the laser was "cool". Thankfully they do not design actual military equipment.

What's the next update?  Perhaps we can have an avatar that pops up with helpful hints such as: "shhhhh the enemy is hiding right around the next corner on the left...it's a thunder/mammy/prodigi combo...you might want to switch to your rico with needle paint. Proceed with caution".

Just give me back the shake (which was never an issue for me), and get rid of the stupid laser.

WIN

On the other hand, I have been waiting for a night mode to finally be released. I haven't tried it yet but I am sure it's fantastic.  The next thing on my wish list is weather conditions such as rain/snow/thunder. Night mode is a huge win.

Tanki developers...you got this one half right. Obviously noobs who hate snipers are going to love the dead giveaway (might as well hold their hands and help them drive their tanks while you're at it) ....but any player with experience knows where to look for snipers and doesn't need a laser beam "hint".

Amen to the comment above.

Tanki screwed up this game for Shafters by making shaft visible. For non-shafters, your job is to seek out the sniper and destroy it, not have this "aid".  With this update, this gun is no different than railgun.  Some players use Shaft exclusively.  What programers have done has discourage Shafters from playing the game altogther.  Trust me, I've lost interest in playing this game and will discouage others from playing Shaft.  And if you are an exclusive Shaft player, good luck.  I'm out.

The problem is that Tanki team should do what they believe is right rather than listen to all the "noise" that players make, including me.  There will be complainers for everything regardless of the change.  If you keep changing the game due to every knee jerk reaction from players, many of which are quite young, then you ultimately dumb down the game and loose the interest of teenagers and adults, who you already know has access to credits cards to buy crystals.

My last request - Stop screwing around with how the weapons and the fundamentals of the game are played.  Just give us another very well done map like Rio.

I had enjoyed this game very much.  I hope you'll re-consider this change.  Then again, I'm just making noise, like everyone else.  Ultimately, Tanki will have to decide what changes are wise to implement and players will decide if they want to continue playing.

I use shaft, and I am a little bit anoyed by this "update".

In fact, it's not as bad as some people says. The laser ray tell everyone from where we attack. So you kill the main purpose of the shaft. But the main idea is not bad at all. It prevent shaft to stay at one position waiting for their perfect target (this is not the good use of shaft ability.)

The good use of the shaft is not waiting at one position, but chasing the good prey (so, target it at the last moment, not during few minutes).

When I use shaft, I allways move, change where I attack, and when ... This is the good strategy for a shaft. Not waiting. I often see shaft waiting, and in 15 minutes, they kill maybe 15 or 20 ennemies, when I kill 50 or 60 (or even more, it depend how strong are the opposit side)

So, my suggestion for the developpers : don't keep the laser ray, but keep the laser spot only. So every body know where a shaft is targeting (preventing the famous instant kill), but they don't know where the shaft is, so we keep the main purpose of the shaft : sniping.

I am really really disappointed by the choice of making the shaft an easy spot.

All the tactics that I developed are now utterly useless. Playing with the shaft put yourself in the position of a tank hunter rather than playing like an MBT, a totally different mindset.

While many players, I imagine the youngest, play the battle like a brawl, closing the range way above it would be feasible in a reasonable fight, I prefer the more sophisticated approach. I actually enjoying being smarter than being bolder. Now I am penalized for this.

I see a lot of complaints for this and I totally second those.

I think I will wait a few days just to see if the update is removed. If not I will just stop playing.

Thanks

That 'shakiness' was actually pretty consistent with the drift you get in aiming and firing an actual tank, or at least the old M60-series (M60A1 and M60A3 was my experience; maybe Russian tanks didn’t have it, lol).  I thought it was a realistic feature that required the user to get to know how the drift worked and to develop some skill in using shaft.  I suppose it was too difficult for too many people and they whined about it?

The laser bit, though, is really too bad.  I can only guess that a lot of people in the game dislike the fact that I and other shaft users actually use strategy to find a good sniper spot, use appropriate camouflage (paint), and then blow them off the map over and over again.  Boo hoo.

I actually thought it was quite fair for the shaft/mammoth (the most logical combination for shaft, although viking and titan are pretty good too) to be such a wicked sniper vehicle since those of use that use the configuration rarely capture a flag much less are fast enough to get to a crystal drop; we make all our points the old fashioned way: we kill the other guys.  (Not saying getting a flag or a crystal drop doesn't happen, but mammoth is obviously at a speed disadvantage and shaft is at a firing rate disadvantage, both of which were offset by the ability to kick butt, fend off attacks, and be stealthy.)  I was happy to just make my points by simply killing other tanks and protecting the flag.  But now this change has effectively neutered the ability of the sniper.  It'll be nothing but rails since the advantage of the shaft has been castrated, more or less.

So, sorry tanki, but while I'm sad to see the drift go (one of your developers much be an old tanker), I could live with that disappearing; this laser idea though is beyond being pretty silly; it is contrary to the idea of a sniper.

You guys must be catering to those who whine and say the game is too hard.  Perhaps some folks should go back to color books and playing with toy soldiers.  Or perhaps I should take my money elsewhere.  And speaking of money, there really isn't any point in spending it on good paints since this "update" has effectively negated the entire point of my being able to blend in with the surroundings since what amounts to a bulls-eye will appear on me every time I pull the trigger.  Sure it can still protect me from fire, but if I was a good sniper, you would never see me.  Now you’d have to be blind.

Bad idea, tanki.  No logical argument for the change other than to satisfy the whiners.
