Night Mode for maps and Shaft’s laser scope

Tankers! Our game keeps evolving. Today marks the release of two, new, exciting updates. Let’s look into them in more detail!

 

Laser scope for Shaft

 

Before this update, Shafts used to be very challenging opponents, to the extent that some tankers found them frustrating to deal with. This was mainly because an instant kill from a Shaft was impossible to predict.

 

However, Shaft is a turret that is totally unique in terms of gameplay. Because of that, we want to keep it in Tanki. Of course, we also want tankers to have a fair shot at defending themselves from Shaft's sniping attacks and dealing with it effectively.

 

Our solution is the laser scope. From now on, while in sniping mode, Shaft will project a laser beam visible to everyone in the arena. This will make Shaft attacks more predictable, and will add a new tactical dimension to the game, both for Shaft users and their opponents. You'll be able to spot enemy snipers more easily and use alternative routes to get close enough to deal with them. On the other hand, one or several Shafts controlling a narrow pass, will discourage anyone from trying to break through.

 

We have also removed the shake from Shaft’s scope view, making long-range precision kills easier and deadlier. Whether you are a Shaft user yourself, or a tanker trying sneak past enemy snipers, this update is definitely worth checking out.

 

Night mode for maps

 

If you're looking for a new way to experience Tanki Online, you're going to love the new Night Mode. The darker sky and textures, as well as the illuminated drop boxes and flags, will not only make the experience more immersive, but also add a whole new tactical element. While an illuminated flag will be easier to locate, it will also make your position a lot more evident while carrying it, making you an easier target to spot.

 

For now, Night Mode is exclusively available on Rio, Sandbox, Barda, Kungur, Polygon, Silence, Stadium and Future. Eventually, if the feature proves to be popular, we might choose to make it available on all maps.

 

We hope you'll enjoy these new updates. Make sure you give us your feedback; it will help continue to improve the game, making it more fun and engaging for you.

Message to TANKI management from Kelvinator Refrigeration manufacturing Ltd.

 

 

We realize that you recently upgraded your existing office fridge to one of our Fridge/Freezer models.  Unfortunately, because of complaints from those that just own freezers we have decided to downgrade your unit by restricting the temperatures at which the freezer operates.  

 

We realize that you thought you bought a unit with certain features but we, as the developers, have decided that it doesn't matter what you think.  Many others have agreed that they enjoy the new feature even if the unit doesn't work as originally designed or sold.  This is unfortunate but we have made our decision and it is now final.  

 

Even if we have fundamentally changed the features of the  unit purchased by yourselves we will refuse any attempt at refund or even a small concession that would allow you to re-direct the funds originally used in order to purchase another fridge/freezer unit in our extensive line of cooling appliances.

 

Should you disagree with our position you are welcome to use appliances designed by other manufacturing plants...such as World Of Fridges or World of Freezers.

 

This post reminds me of something similar, which i have written (364 days ago) in vain ...

I moved on, they need to alter their products to keep the game going (in all meanings), Though i don't agree with them but i do understand them.

In my opinion I don't think the changes to shaft are good. For me the whole point of shaft is that you need to be stationary to snipe to get full power from the turret. The laser beam now penalises the shaft user because as soon as he starts to build power for the shot the beam is like a huge flag identifying wherre he is. Now thunder users sit semi concealed pumping shots into the general area until the shaft user is destroyed.

 

Aditionally the skill of using the shaft was manouvering the floating site onto the target, no matter how little of it could be seen, and then hitting the target. Now any person using shaft, no matter how bad they were with it can point at a gap and wait fir somethng to drive past and hit it.

 

For me these changes were not needed and what was once a turret requiring skill and guile to use has been dumbed down beyond belief.

 

Sorry Tanki but for me shaft should revert back 2 weeks and these updates abandoned.

Tanki developers didn't touch shaft's core parameters this time, and they even took the shaking off from weapon's view scope (a huge advantage) but they came up with this new feature "Laser beam". Maybe this new laser feature is hindering some new shaft users, but not the old shaft users.

 

I for one understand why they had to make the laser scope, in the past here in Tanki we only had night maps to celebrate a Halloween or New Year, but when they went to make "nighttime" permanent maps they encountered a valid threat of overpowered shafts again, and they had to level the playing field by saving other turret users in dark maps from hiding shafts (as they said in introduction video).

Now imagine the chaos a player with "hornet+shaft+picasso" combination may have caused even in a daylight map hiding in those bushes?

or in that matter hiding in a nighttime Rio map with adequate protection and camouflage paint? it would have been another disastrous update similar to "growing crystal boxes update"

They just had to level the playing field guys, this update has nothing to do with Tanki earnings this time.

If they "fixed" it because of the night maps then they should have different effects based on day or night.

I enter a map now with laser beams and I change to something else - it is way OP now.

 

Essentially they just took railgun and put a scope on it.

Now that the shaft has well and truly being shafted,can you also update (ruin) and  take away the freeze from the freeze ,the fire from the firebird  and the thunder from the thunder.. turrets .Then perhaps the gameplay may become enjoyable once again.

Since this update even when I have double armor on my M2 Hornet I cannot survive a shaft hit without it being fatal 100% of the time.

 

With double armor I should have 290 hit points.

 

M3 shaft has a max. damage of 260 hit points. No shaft should kill me unless it is using double power.

 

But even shafters who aren't even M2/M3 yet are taking me out with one hit even when they don't use double power.

 

Even with no double armor I can survive a mine because I slightly upgraded the protection via MU.

 

But even on Lost Temple if I am just spawning and there is an enemy shaft on the other side of the map at the opposing team's base a single shot takes me out every time. Very frustrating because before they made this update it never happened. Never.

 

Prior to this "update" a shaft would at best give me about 50-60% damage, more if I was about 2-4 tank lengths away, and, if I was in the air when hit by a shaft it would have a tendency to flip me.

 

Every. Single. Time {hit.by.shaft]=100% damage now. As soon as the laser hits me POW! Dead.

Um, no, that's wrong.  None shaft users are the ones happy about this.  I have already said my peace, but yeah, you guys are nothing but apologists for the dev team and self interested cry babies who couldn't stand having to stop and hunt for who's shooting you.

 

I have played shaft again a few times since the update, and CTF is nothing but snatch and grab now.  Rush, capture, repeat, this has become the most boring game in the world now for shafts.  Serpove is the only place you can still camp so far, and that is only if you have a good team, otherwise it's a waste of time.

 

Dusseldorf you can camp too, but the laser still alerts them sooner to the fact you're on the other end of the town.  Brest is no longer any good except up top, where things we usually shaft on shaft anyways, but even then, beam across the field and their pretty much gone in a sec.

 

Rio is a joke, shafting there now is a death sentence.  Massacre was always a hard sell for shafts with a weak team before, now, even with a strong team, you're pretty much SOL.  Death matches area joke too, no flag, just find people, hence I announce my place every time I shoot?

 

You're nothing but a little sad player that hated getting shot right out the gate before you probably hit all three drugging buttons.

 

That's another thing, druggers were really miffed when all their sheild was not enough to shake of serious damage.  Three full power shaft shots could kill a shielded player in some instances.   Two shafts running cover against (wimp) druggers was a excellent force modifier and equalizer.  This update still sucks, the devs suck for putting it in, and the entire operation is nothing but cow towwing to you little dork druggers.  I never drug and if I do, it's because a box was in my way, I never collect them on purpose, ever.  So, go on, all you no skill. no sense of acheivement button mashers, enjoy for stupid fun.

Have shaft damage and shooting mechanics changed?

Something is terribly wrong - I am being dead serious when it seems like one of the following is true:

 

1. Shaft = God Mode On

2. Shaft = Max. sniping damage M3 applied to all shafts regardless of level.

 

I seriously cannot figure it out and it's only been since the laser update was introduced.

 

Thing is that I see various ranks, some with DP, some without - seems to make no difference.

 

I could understand some shots being fatal if the shafter were using DP and the rank of the player was high enough but I play on maps with users from WO5 - > Major General and it seems to be a fatal shot every time.

 

It's very frustrating.

I use Shaft and I'm happy. I still get a good score. Players come to me and I snipe them.

Not with double armor. The same problem exists even with double armor being used.

 

It's also supposed to be a range of damage between a high and a low but it seems like every shot is maximum damage now.

Nope! :)

 

Note that m1 shaft with just one MU can one shot m2 hornet.

 

I'm using M3 shaft, with a fair few MUs, don't notice any damage difference compared to before :P

I love the new laser scope thing,

i finally will know where those skill-less Shafts are (well unless you are skilled, good job :D) 

As for night maps.... Beautiful, made me cry when i saw flashing lights everywhere :D

I have M0 Hornet and I survive nearly 75 percent of the time. if the enemy is M1 i need armor. but if not I usually survive.

What happened to the large battle funds!?

Recently I have been noticing that the battle funds are decreasing in size. I haven't been in a 1000+ battle fund game in a week.

What Happened!!??

Also, it it taking me forever to rank up. Any suggestions?

Chances are you aren't playing enough against higher ranks to notice.

 

In fact I think it is impossible for me now to play against anyone lower than WO.

that could be true. I like playing against "easy pickings" so to speak.

Devs! Please remove the shaft update! It is too easily spotted, and the anti-shake makes it OP. Please!
