Gold Box drop locations

Never to be added:

The following maps are the smallest in Tanki Online and it's impossible to not find the gold box spot on them after the siren sounds, therefore making a gold map for them is pointless.

  • Island
  • Duality
  • Duel
  • Boombox
  • Hill
  • Combe
  • Farm
  • Ping-Pong

So I was in a silence parkour battle today and someone dropped a few golds during my time there. At about the third or fourth gold, I saw like 8 to 12 ppl go rushing into the tunnel as if they knew it was going drop in the tunnel. And sure enough, the gold was in the tunnel. It happened a few other times in different drop locations.

And I'm pretty darn sure that they weren't using a hack, because let's face it, 8 to 12 ppl hacking in the same battle is highly unlikely.

I think that they knew exactly where the gold was going to drop as if they memorized it in a way.

So my question is do the gold drop locations have a sequence in which the next gold drop will be at?

Not really. The gold box drop rate, location, and anything else are all randomized; there should not be any specific sequence.

From reading what you explained, what I feel like occured in your case is that the good old Bandwagon Effect came into play:

Some tanker went rushing in the tunnel with the good assumption a gold might spawn in there. Others, having no idea where the gold box is going to drop, see that tanker and they follow because they think "oh, this player seems confident! This player knows what's up!" As the group gets larger, more players are inclined to follow... and there goes the snowball down the hill.

Anyway, isn't that what happens in most god box cases when you cannot see the drop location? Clueless tankers, like sheep, tend to follow the herd to join that common false belief that "they know where they are going" -- which can turn out for the best but also for the worst.

Also, if gold boxes are dropped in a relatively short time frame, you would suppose they are going to drop in different locations. And if you cannot see the drop location, you would suppose it is "somewhere you cannot see."

I don't see the gold box drop zones for Edinburgh. Do you think you can add it in? :D THX.

There is only one drop zone for Edinburgh: the middle

This is true. I got a gold in kolhoz once because everyone on the map started following eachother into the middle, and then they all started shooting at eachother when the drop zone was actually in the corner of the map, at our base.

I`m not complaining but some gold drop zones on some maps are just so awful...

I think tanki developers should think of drop zones where the teams don`t have a noticeable advantage over the other team, what i mean by that is don`t do drop zones by like flags and stuff where they are so far from the other team because if the gold drops in blue base and some red player just waits there and he gets killed, the chance of him catching the gold is significantly lower then if the blue player gets killed because his spawn wont be so far away.

Hope tanki fixes this, thank you!

What do you guys think?

Never seen that one before.

It was during the Matchmaking testing of the new version of Polygon.

Woah , thank you so much :P

The Wiki pages for each maps are more reliable than this one. They have official files. To find the drops for your desired map, follow this link structure:

http://en.tankiwiki.com/Map_Name

eg. http://en.tankiwiki.com/Brest and http://en.tankiwiki.com/Lost_Temple (use underscores to interchange with spaces).
