The Demise of RailGun

I am wondering if anyone else finds it somewhat frustrating as I do that under the revised weapon definitions that the Rail Gun has become literally useless.  I just returned from a battle on the RU 10 server where our rag tag team of 4 were losing 19 to 0 to a group of five consisting of Freeze and Isida. I was playing my best as did the others on the team.  Let me give you my stats before dismissing this observation and assigning it to the "sour grapes" category.  I have Rail Gun Level 3 with the following upgrades: Maxed out Damage; maxed out  Reload Time; 18/25 Impact Force Category; 2/25 Rotation Speed Category and 20/25 Penetrtating Power categoroy.  My current rank is Gereralissimo.  My point is this: In any given battle the once proud and awesome Rail Gun has been reduced to the one-shot-and-hide survival technique while waiting for what seems like an eternity to reload.   I find that 99 times out of 100 reload for a second shot is not possible because until reload  the weapon is useless and subject to destruction by the smallest of weapons.  I understand the need for balance to permit fair play BUT it seems to me the Rail Gun (once my "go to" weapon of choice and one which I used extensively while coming up in the ranks) has been shortchanged and  forgotten.  I beg you please review the stats of the weapon and revise accordingly.  Something is simply not right.

İ think railgun has big problems. This gun is OP and UP. :D

 

My railgun idea:

 

Damage: Should be enough for killing wasp with one shot, and should be more certain.

Turning: Good

İmpact: Good

Reload time: Maybe should be less

Penetrate:Good

 

1.1 second charging before shot shouldn't be, but  after 2 second stun should be.

i stopped playing with that gun on my main acc because of old kits everyone has prodigi these days, and also rail is soo hard to play with all the smokys around :/

@Kayitsiz: Unless it's a Shaft, big MU-difference, or an M-difference, no gun should be able to OHKO any other hull.

Railgun already does a inflicts a large amount of damage to Wasp. And with the new point distribution, it's fine how it is. Changing it to this would be Overpowered.

 

You called this gun OP, but you're improving it at the same time. If it's going to be that powerful then it'd be fine by me to introduce Prodigi paint back to kits. :)

This gun is OP because tactics make this gun immortal against some guns.

 

İ said "after stun" İt make railgun hard to escape so it can not go back to behind wall and will die. But, with sudden shot (similar smoky) will make impossible to miss with impact force. And i think, it will be balances with my high stats.

 

By the way, this gun gets low kill for a lot of situation.

 

This gun should get more kill, and should be more easy died.

Railgun is at its demise. It does usually get a low score in CTF games because it simply can't kill people. There are too many paints that protect against it even when you are drugged. Of course, if you up the damage then it wouldn't be fair to those who don't have rail paint. If the reload is decreased, then it would have to be significantly decreased meaning that protection from it would go up. Maybe reducing paint protection is the best solution. After all, 46 protection from rail using Prodigi is insane. That's like 3 fully MU'ed double power Rail M3 hits to take it out. It's the same with Tundra, Digital, and Emerald. Too much protection.

I strongly agree with Roper765.

 

I've Railgun (in my view the most funny turret) M3 - after accumulating a lot of crystals - microupgraded on damage 121-182..

 

Prodigi Paint reduces damage at least 46% (firstly I thought 46 was not % :o ).

 

Killing a hornet M3 (mediely protected without paint = 185)  with paint Prodigi:

 

at a medium range, damage of my rail would be 140-150, decreased of 46%  :blink: : damage would be 70-80 instead.

 

So I've to hit the enemies THREE times to destroy it (time to reload: 6,85 x3 = 20.55  :huh: ), AT A SHORT-MEDIUM RANGE;

if I'm overdrugged 2 times.

 

Not a great deal, noway.

 

 

I moreover noticed that A LOT OF TANKS HAVE PRODIGI.. so I'm aiming to M3 firebird, ranked too far.. 

 

Firebird, Freeze, Isida, are not funny in my view..  :wacko:

Each turret has it's own cons and pros, this gun's pros are;

 

  1. High damage of every shot.
  2. Ability to deal damage through enemy tanks.
  3. Knocks off enemy’s aim.
  4. Unlimited range.

and it's cons are;

  1. Very low rate of fire.
  2. High recoil that can knock over light hulls.
  3. Delay before the shot.

As you see, Rail deals massive amounts of damage, the drawback however is it's slow reload. It's basically Smoky in reverse, Smoky deals small amounts of damage but it's balanced with it's super high rate of fire. So as you can see, Rail with faster reload would be devastating and would ruin the game with it's power. You say Rail is a "one-shot-and-hide survival weapon", well, that is what it's meant to be...

People,railgum is not for capturing flags and not close range combat. people think it is just it can. what its for is backing up you teamates and sniping. whall you teamtes are charging you severly damage your opponents making an easy capture. its not for charging into a base and using one drug to kill the whole team. thunder does this and is way to overpowered

Right, the smoky..

 

On my opinion, you've to consider the specific aspect of the question..

Let me make an example...

 

I bought kit M3 including needle paint: it has damage protection against smoky 48%.  

 

On battle, a smoky turret have to shoot a lot of times to destroy my tank; if i'm double armored it's IMPOSSIBLE - for a smoky turret - destroying a tank with needle paint. 

I think it's the SAME thing for prodigi and railgun.

Right, but you don't consider the power of damage at log range which at MAXIMUM M3 UPGRADE is 134.. 134*46% = 60. You've to shoot 4 TIMES to destroy an enemy* wiith PRODIGI. It can kill you two times in the meanwhile..  :wacko:

it is true that railgun has less damage for afar and i wasnt talking about 2 corners of stadium i mostly talking about... medium range like blue team in selence to the edge of red team
