First of all, thanks for the appreciation :)

As for server chats, we are aware of the fact that we cannot cover all of them, all the time. They are active 24/7, and there's simply not that many of us, plus some servers are entirely occupied by players who do not speak English, so we have to find suitable moderators to assist them. That being said, we're working our best to acquire more moderators in the next few months, and to be on as many servers as possible, throughout the day (and night).

We felt that spending hours on the forum instead of being on the chat with the players for the same amount of time is counter-productive.

I have an idea you could open up the chat violators section but after report you send them a PM, that is if they are active or have an account on the forum, and if you get a second report of them doing a violation you ban them

Well, not accepting screenshots of violations does not mean moderators want people to carry on breaking the rules and staying unnoticed.

Yes, it was good when you could report the violator by just taking a screenshot and posting on the forum. He would get a ban. It'll look like this: You broke a rule → you get a ban → you break the rules again → get a ban again and so on. That's not what moderators wanted and we should agree that it's a wrong way of solving the problem. Now maybe less people will get banned, but that ban won't be a punishing act, but it'd rather be an educative act. It will like this: You broke a rule → you get warned →  here's what you're doing wrong → a link to the rules.

The ban message also contains the reason why you're banned and a link to the Rules, as we know.

The problem IS being solved. There are about 50 million tankers, if not more. How many trollers are there? How many people use bad language? Just a tiny fraction of that number, which is expected. And we all need to understand that there's no way of keeping the chat 100% clean, because you can't expect what the other person is going to write...

Just posting a link to the rules, for warnings and bans, is not good enough. Half these players don't understand the rules. They need to be told in simple terms, that what they are doing is wrong, and why it is wrong.

For example:  You are being warned for breaking the rules on profanity. When people use bad words it may upset other players. It is disrespectful to other players as well as yourself, to use such language. Do you understand? If you continue you will be banned, if you still continue you may face even stricter punishment.

I know this will take more time, but this is "educating".  Banning with a link to the rules will not work. They didn't read the rules in the first place, and they probably still won't.  The most common thing I see is "Stupid mods banned for no reason" .

Are the mods being trained?

If you are not re-opening the violator's section, what will the powers of these new "helpers" be? Will the people that get asked to help be able to contact mods for help when and where needed?

Yes, I understand you completely, and that's exactly what we're doing now :) Not in so many words, though, we have to fight the speed of the chat, plus to be careful not to spam it. On top of it all, we have to answer the questions of all the other players in the same time, so it's not as easy as it looks on the paper.

Yes, and we're spending a lot of time doing so, plus we're taking every precaution before choosing candidates - not everyone is fit for the job. We want helpers who will be able to stay collected and calm when dealing with offenders, and to have just the right amount of maturity and poise when approaching the situation.

It's better to tell someone to stay quiet and warn them and make them understand that it is not good to break rules rather than banning them and making them go insane.

This change was a needed one indeed. It increases the level of activity between players and Chat Moderators, along with providing more time for Chat Moderators to work in the chats themselves. You see, the level of work these Mods do has not been reduced, but shifted. Now they may help more players who are in need, ban more players who persist in violating the rules, and lastly, they may do so in an efficient manner. From a banning perspective, this means that violators will receive the ban they deserve on the spot, which could prevent other violations from being incited. Additionally, now Chat Moderators will be able to give a player a bit of a hand in chats if they need help with something. :) If you think you'd be able to give them a hand, please do apply here: RULES of filling out the chat moderator form
