Test the upcoming shotgun turret!

I must say, that this seems just like a thunder that won't damage yourself at close range despite the idea of a shotgun being an interesting new turret. It needs to be more obvious when you shoot and hit like the other guns. Also, despite trying it once on test server 2, none of he test servers are working for me.

I would like to thank all the developers who have been working on the new turrets and also for giving us the opportunity to test and give you feedback. I understand it can feel a little disheartening to put all this work into something only to hear negative comments, but with our help you get to use your skills to create something better.

 

After more testing, I still feel....

  • it is underpowered, it should have the stopping power of the thunder from a year ago. 
  • if the power is raised, 3 shots per clip is good, if it is not raised then maybe we need 4 shots.
  • if it is going to have such a short range, the damage dealt should be massive. It's a shot gun not a rifle,which is an odd thing to say when we are talking about tank turrets.
  • the shot pattern and spread could be slightly larger. Aiming shouldn't be much of a factor, you don't aim a shot gun, you point a shot gun and shoot.
  • this turret feels underwhelming in the heat of battle and I don't think it will be that popular in it current state. It does not instill a lot of fear.
  • It sounds like a cap gun, but you said you are fixing that.

When I first read about the idea I was exited because I thought it would be the new thunder, or the old depending on the perspective. I imagined a very short range, massive damage and massive punch. The trade off would be limited ammo and a longer reload, during which time you are defenseless.

its an good gun takes a little getting used to but  think that it is fine the way it is.I mean come on any more power and it would be to much

Th problem with 1 shoting 3 hornets with double damage can be solved with micro upgrades and paints. Its also useles for long range. The picture is really weird and it doesnt have a description. The recoil is kind of like a railgun. To me it seems like 3 shotguns together can flip any hull.

Even 1 Magnum can flip a Titan if part of the Titan is off the ground. Also, I think that the shotgun turret is too op. Like others have said, it renders freeze and firebird obsolete (except when attacking a group) and the damage it does is almost equivelent to a railgun, but with 3 shots before it needs a reload (which, by the way, is almost the same amount of reload time as a rail).

 

However, the impact of the gun can also be its downfall...if you shoot a light (or even medium of it is shooting sideways) tank with a high impact gun when they are shooting the Magnum, you can flip them...

 

Overall, I would nerf the gun, but not too much...just a little tweaking. Considering that 3 shots from this gun can do as much or more damage than a Shaft, I think the damage needs to be nerfed. Perhaps if the damage from an M3 Shotgun with double damage were to be able to kill a M3 Hornet with 2 shots (one without protective paint) it would be more fair. IDK how much damage that would require, but it should be about 10-20 lower that what it is now.

 

The impact should stay the same, though. After all, it is a shotgun. If you have ever shot a 12 guage with steelshot you know what I mean ;)

It it worst turret ever! You can't see where you are shooting and it's icon in garage looks ugly!

Darude! Chill! This gun is still a WIP! They know the issues and are working on it! The icon in the garage is probably a temporary fix...so relax!

I disagree with what you said with the "point and shoot" thing...

 

IRL, shotguns aren't just "point and shoot". In reality, you aim a shotgun and then fire, since you still want as many pellets to hit the bird/deer/whathaveyou. Also, generally speaking, when you shoot a shotgun, the pellets are made to be a grouped together as possible, but not so tight that it is essentially a rifle.

 

Regarding your comment on the Magnum being underpowered...I disagree. It already makes the short range guns obsolete (well, not quite, but almost) with damage, and the 3 shots per clip and the reload time that is only as long as a railgun's reload makes this gun a little OP.

 

 

DEVELOPERS!!!:

I think that this gun should be tested on the real server before the Developers make ANY CHANGES! The testing on the test server is unrealistic since no one has protective paints and EVERYONE has M3s. Just a tip to the Devs: allow the shotgun we have on the test server RIGHT NOW to be on the regular server for about a week or two...just so we can get some real testing...

Glad to be of assistence (somehow :P)

 

Yeah, I kinda likes the different valued crystal boxes, but I also like the way it is now...so yeah.

If you mean micro upgrades, I don't think they published that  yet.

 

If you mean each M level, it was posted by on the first page.

My friend and I were of the first people on the test server (that didn't have an invite code) to try out the hammer. We soon learned that an insane combo was M3 Hammer + M3 Dictator (probably one of the first public testers to use the Hammer-Dictator combo) and now everyone is using it. I think M3 Hammer is too good on M3 Dictator, your thoughts?

Well I can see I am not the first to reply so I will keep it quick and simple. Hammer was great with viking/hunter but does not have any movement up or down much like rail (both of the hulls also have trouble with up or down pitch). This gives many turrets too great an advantage on hills and ramps. My personal opinion is that you should give it little more flexibility.
