If you ask me, TO needs artillery wep. Besides rocket launcher, we need weapon with blind-shot into air, I think. Like, you hold the space for distance that bullet will travel thru the air. Also you may only move the turret up and down, not in side.

What do you think?

I like the main concept, and I agree - not a rocket launcher. But a blind-shot into the air...that would be really hard for some players who have never played that map, they don't know the map and they don't know the distance they need to shoot. Also yeah, the turret would move up and down, not side to side.

Not that hard...it would have minimal but existing splash damage.

Maybe instead of a completely blind-shot the player would have to point their weapon the direction they want to shoot then they have 3-5 seconds to set the 'aim' of the shot (this is when they are in sky view and can see the entire map from a 3d angle, depending on their position) then they the shot would deliver in 3-6 seconds - depending how far they shot. After that they would have to wait 6-8 seconds to reload their weapon. And yes - to answer your question, most damage would come from a splash damage, HIGH damage is ONLY when it is a DIRECT hit on a tank.

Reload would have to take forever... its too OP.

Yeah my original thought was to make the shot deliver in 5-9 seconds - so you would have to guess where that person would be in 5-9 seconds then reload would take 10-12 seconds. I thought that was unbalanced...I guess I never really asked for opinions on that part.

It isnt really fun to "guess where tanks are, imagine it like you pull up a targeting map and only tanks visible to you or other players can be seen, the rounds would have tracers so artillery could be located and the shots would be widely inaccurate but one could home in on a sniper and knock it out if given time for a few shots. Just my 2 cents, tell me what you guys think :)      Im not part of the design or anything I just thought that might be a good layout for consideration.

I'm so happy someone took the time and effort into making a detailed topic about this. I think that a proper artillery turret should be added to the game. I think that when you press space, you should get an above view of the map. If anyone has played, or seen videos of artillery from WoT, thats what I mean, exactly like that.

Maybe another thing, it can't shoot directly behind buildings, realistically. There has to be some nerf that stops it raining hell everywhere. I hope that the devs REALLY consider this and make a concept.

Thank you.

yeah that would be great,.

Yeah that is what I think, it would be too hard to guess where they are, I mean Shaft doesn't have to guess, they have all the time in the world. Yet they do massive damage - again DIRECT HIT though. So a direct hit from an Artillery weapon wouldn't be much different - it'd just do less damage than Shaft since it has splash damage - even though that is low.

Howitzer. That should be the new weapon.

This game needs another 1st person, scope-based turret, and a Howitzer cannon would be the perfect weapon to fit the bill.

It would fire an orb that would travel in a huge arch over the map, and land on the spot you pinpoint with a crosshair: there would be a birds eye view of the map, and a radar scope would uncover *only moving tanks*, with the pinpointing only every 2-4 seconds, depending on the M level. It would operate entirely on splash damage, and offer massive damage/impact. The orbs would be easily seen, especially on night maps, to allow enemies to see the incoming projectile (this prevents the gun from being OP).

Also an occasional 'EMP' (ElectroMagneticPulse) would activate in the orb upon impact, and any tank in within the blast radius would have its armour effectiveness decreased, for a certain amount of time (depending on M level). That is, say a tank has 100 armour, and the EMP blast removes 30% armour effectiveness: this means that the hull will now effectively have 70 armor. So if a gun deals 70 damage, it's a one shot kill. BUT, if when the effect wears off, if the hull did not receive any addition damage in that time, it will once again have 100 armor, because the 30% reduction has worn off.

Also, the only way to avoid the impact/damage is to move out of the blast radius, or hide behind a wall (even half height, as long as it fully conceals the hull and turret. The only way to escape an EMP blast is to leave the blast radius.

This is Tanki, not World of Tanks. Go there if you want artillery.

Kevred, I understand your reasoning. But - no one saw a Minigun and a Shotgun coming did they? Tanki is an evolving game, it will keep growing aswell. In fact the first game I've ever played was this game. When I first joined I thought there could be nothing new added to this game. Depending whether it was a new weapon or hull. But the Tanki team proved me wrong. Sir, I love that you took time to leave feedback, but I have many more ideas than just Artillery. So if this weapon fails - there is more variety in scoping coming.

Play safe,

Kevred,

You speak for the Press, not the developing team. Keep your power within the Tanki Staff where it belongs.

How about a Shotgun? Or a Full-Auto Machine Gun? Those are hardly further towards being artillery than any other gun here. How about the Smoky? Or the Thunder? If those were concepts would you tell me to not implement them too? And by the way, as a representative of Tanki, in a way, isn't it your duty to ensure satisfaction of Tankers, and to increase their interest in the game? And here you just told us to leave for this kind of weapon.

I don't play WOT for a reason. I love the mechanics and semi-unrealistic nature of TO, and that is why I play it. I would like to play with this weapon concept, but I want to play with it HERE. In Tanki!

Consider the above.

You could always call it Splash or Burst. Another idea is Flakgun

Okay cool, I'll add Splash and Burst... I don't know about Flakgun - it says gun in it, and most turrets are considered guns so..

Artillery will generate the same problems that are currently plaguing WoT. Also, maps will have to be remodeled, since unlike WoT maps, they are not generally flat. In addition, ANOTHER gun will create a imbalance between hulls and guns. Your general concept is good, but this particular idea isn't.

Kevred, I don't play WoT so I don't know what is happening there. The most I know about it is from ads. Since you know about the ideas, would another scoping weapon add variety to the current sniping weapons, or would most players want more 'ingaging' weapons?

I'll quote a post made on the WoT forum:

"We can send all the WoT players that complain artillery is to OP to Tanki and take all their players that complain about the bad graphics..."

Generally artillery would disturb the gameplay style of Tanki, which IMO is charge and shoot. i.e. the number of players that complain about Shaft is already immense. So yes, more "engaging" weapons would be welcome. Why do you think the devs released a shotgun instead of a sniper?

That is unfortunate the WoT is trying to steal Tanki players because of graphics. Anyways I supposed the devs released the shotgun instead of a sniper because very few people snipe as it is, and many more people would rather engage in real battling other that waiting for players to get in their scoping range. Good point - I need to post some engaging weapons - not sniping weapons - thanks for pointing that out. I think I'll keep this topic up, I will just create a new one for the engaging weapon.

Glad to help. Although I'd be surprised if you're able to come up with a unique new weapon, since all the different varieties have pretty much already been covered.

Off to bed now, g'night.

Don't worry my brain has got some sort of imagination fuel. Good night.

Yeah...we can make it perfectly balanced with other weapons; but we didn't got news about this new weapon to be developed, it's just new idea in section. Wait for some consultant/ Hazel Rah to respond, and hope it will be accepted. If it will, then developer team will do the statistics and numbers part.
