New auto-aim mechanism

Recommended Posts

Yeah yeah, give us a couple of weeks. New Year is a big holliday in Russia.

This issue may lead either to next balance patch or to adjustments in auto-aiming. Leaving it like that would be rather... annoying for some players.

There is no reason to edit/delete this awesome new update.

Well the new update more shows your skills now, its not that if your opponent shoots at your rail and you just flip, you can control your self and stay up, but it depends on you, the way you control the tank, you just need to know how to, I might make a guide soon.

Agreed. There is some skill involved in making sure your light tank will take impact. And I've been playing light hulls recently myself to dig into it. But there is a little bit of an overkill with current impact force on m3 weapons. Sometimes you just can't do anything about enemy shot. This is frustrating indeed.

We are not going to remove this update nor we are going to change the way auto-aiming is working. But we are looking into making turnovers not that frequent.

Thanks for your post/reply Hazel-Rah.

Great that you took the time (and pleasure... ;) ) to play with light hulls recently yourself.

True story: actually saw you prancing myself after an impact in a Dusseldorf DM XP on your XP XT combo. -_-

So it 's good you noticed from your own experience, that there is really too much effect now of the impact force:

especially on light hulls.

That would be good! :)

Agree. I'm happy to read that you are working to find a solution.

Let me just add a comment: I experienced on my skin that not only M3, but also M1 railgun can easily flip a M2 wasp.

Maybe you could add a priority to auto-aim: if both hull and turret are inside the angle of auto-aim when the shot is fired, then the projectile always hits the hull.

In this way If I'm partially hidden behind a wall, the shot will hit my turret. If I'm in plain sight, the shot will hit the hull.

Plus, another idea: paints and double armor could also affect impact force reduction.
Double armor could halve the impact force; paint could apply its % both to damage and the impact force.

Thank-you for taking the time to respond. This puts a lot of minds at ease and hopefully stops us from saying something stupid out of frustration. I hope your holidays were enjoyable. At least one good thing came from the glitch, I learned some new really cool dance steps trying to stay upright. :D

Haha. :p

Thanks for coming, Hazel. ;)

I am glad this is in your plans! :D

Because this is, as discussed in this thread, extremely frustrating and need plenty of revision.

As you said in your next post, you will not remove the auto-mechanism, and thats pretty fair. After all, thats not what I was asking for. It was quite needed to add geometry on the turret as well.

The only thing is the ridiculous impact..

I suggest we get an option to turn that new mechanism off. Or at least, make the impact lower.

In modes like XP/BP there are many more flips, perhaps x2 or more than before. It is not very fun seeing one person flipped one after the other and self destructing.

Thanks.

I agree. The turret is so easily flipped. It must be debuffed or removed

You probably should put less emphasis on the turret and more on the hull. A shot at the turret should not flip a tank.

In reality it seems that a tank should not  be flipped easily unless the shot is below the tank.

Because of this update I spend far more time pressing Delete to self-destruct than ever  before.

Also since the auto-aim update the way Isida works now is broken - if I point at a tank and start using Isida the healing/damage ray should stay on that tank until I release the space bar and switch targets. Now the ray changes targets all the time and it causes me to heal/damage other tanks which were not the target. It's really quite annoying. This has caused me much frustration when attacking an opponent with the flag or trying to heal my own teammate with the flag.

I don't think the auto-aim affected Isida, but from my own experience the most annoying thing with Isida is where you keep pressing space to try and get the right target, but the ray keeps attaching to someone you don't want to heal/attack.

It got much worse after the past update.

Prior to this it wasn't really a major issue.

I've been using it almost exclusively since I started about 5 months ago and with the auto-aim changes recently it has become much harder to keep it focused on the tank that I want it to be focused on.

It seems to be the one most affected by this.

Well... after long discussion it was decided to nerf two guns. Should've seen this coming.

I would suggest that you don't constantly nerf items that many players have put money in (real money) so that they HAVE to buy other items (new poducts).

Once the majority of players customers realises this, you are going to face a major issue that may destroy your game bussiness.

Seriously and well meaningly

I've been hearing this for two years.

Nothing changed though.

He is right, someday buyers will fight back. Maybe in the social media. He is also right about it being bad business to take away what people pay for.  This update was about something else other then the flipping of wasps and hornets. If that was all it was about then why not just remove the affect of the impact to the turrets instead of  nerfing the impact of rail and smokey. If it was only to stop flipping why not nerf hammer as well, it flips more people then smokey. It always seems like the updates are about more then what we get told.

One other comment. If I read between the lines, your comment suggests that you don't care about buyers and how much they have spent. Do you really think it makes no difference that buyers are upset and that you are safe from backlash from unhappy customers? I wonder what you will think if angry buyers start to tell people on facebook, twitter and other forms of social media, not to waste real money on this game because Tanki has no respect for paying customers.

I could not find the forum in the recent update to reduce flipping.

So I pasted here.

Great update.

As a Wasp / Rico driver it was fair enough being flipped once in a while from a side shot.  But the recent raised turret target area update meant a front shot could flip you on your back even on level ground  - mostly from rail guns.

I.e. most troublesome when having spent time 'gathering' nitro, double armour and double damage - you find yourself on your back and nothing you can do about it.  And this was now happening too often making it very difficult to attack an opposition with 2 rail guns.

Since this fix the problem is back in balance - and to all the rail gun moaners - you gained an advantage for a short while and now it has been put back much as it was = all Tanki have done is put the balance back.

and to all the other moaners - if you can't beat them join them! - I now have 3 accounts - it's great having Captain skills v a Newby (progress is very fast) - I.e. I have now 'inevitably' joined the BP brigade with my newest tank account in an attempt to be more of a Pro!  However, I do like the variety in Tanki and love finding tactics to deal with each kind of tank.  Hence, I do appreciate all the tankers making some of the battles so varied and entertaining - I usually just 'charge' round corners with Nitro on and see what turns up! unless an enemy Freeze is on the map - I have to hit Freeze from a safe place.

By the way I have never minded Shafts that much - it's an important tactic to work out where they are - and once you do - then go out and destroy them.  Only the 'Pro' shafts know how to stop me but that does not stop me bothering them!

There are very few Smokies on the battle field (probably because the gun feels weak at M0) - but I treat them like Thunders because they have similar fire power.  I.e. I can take a standard shot but best to dodge the second and third and shoot them in the side or back! Not so easy in Massacre! (Everyone should try Massacre at least once a week for a bit of mayhem.)

I was nearly flipped end over end in a Viking by a rail gun just yesterday.  In fact it happened twice in the same game.  It was curtains for me because I was toombstoned and the rail gun tank just physically pushed me the rest of the way over on to my turret.  That has never happened to me before.

Talking of impact and Physics, each action has an equal and opposite reaction.  If a turret has the power to flip another tank then it should also flip the firing tank unless it was of a high enough mass.  It is ridiculous for small tanks firing powerful weapons that flip an opponent, yet they the shooter, just carry on as normal with minimal or no disturbance.  We see wasps carrying Rail, Rico, Thunder etc practical smashing  opponents over or about yet they do not move about at all.  We are constantly told about Physics but do the tellers really understand Physics at all or is it a mystical physics that they are talking about? :D
