See how bad hammer is!!!!!!

18 shots!!!!!!

It is because of the range , please man Hammer is a Shotgun kind of gun . The more far you from the target , the lesser damage you did . The more near you from the target , the more damage you did.

1st. Hammer is too much like railgun. I think the developers wanted to make a gun appealing to railgun users. Hammer has the same reload time as railgun, and takes away as much as railgun, just in two shots.

2nd. Hammer just isn't good enough. You fire your three shots, then you get killed, and you can't stop it.

3rd. Hammer is expensive- it is about the 2nd most expensive gun overall, so not many people want to spend loads of crystals on a new gun that has lots of downfalls.

4th. Hammer has no special function. Every other gun has a special function- fire has burning effect, freeze has freezing effect, isida has its self healing function, twins has double barrels and constant firing, smoky has the lightning function, rico has richocet ability, railgun has a  piercing ability, sniper gun has sniper mode and thunder has splash damage. The up coming machine gun has the effect where you can turn your turret and keep firing. Hammer has none- possibly a bit of splash damage, but this is the same as thunder, and comes with a gun that really isn't good enough, for the other 3 reasons listed above.

1. The gameplay with Hammer is completely different from the gameplay with railgun. A first big difference is the fact that railgun is a long distance weapon. Hammer is a medium distance weapon on the contrary. You'll have to come much closer to your opponents. You can fire 3 shots which deal a massive amount of damage. After you've fired these 3 shots, you must hide and reload. When using railgun, you'll have to reload after every single powerful shot. The differences in distance and the ones regarding the number of shots and the duration of the reload time (and some other factors) will give you the chance to experience a totally different gameplay. Also Hammer fits best with Medium hulls instead of railgun which suits perfectly with light hulls.

2. I'm actually glad that Hammer needs to reload after 3 shots. Imagine that it doesn't have to reload! :o It would be indisputably overpowered. After you fired three shots that deal a massive damage, you can just hide and reload your weapon. It's not a bad weapon. You just need to get used to the different playing style.

3. I do agree with your point that it's an expensive weapon. The micro-upgrades compared to those of other weapons are not expensive though.

4. In my opinion the ability of hitting several turrets with 1 single shot is a special function. Also when a Hammer is hitting you, you don't immediately know where he's shotting from since the bullets aren't visible that good which you can see both as a positive and negative point.

This is just my point of view. :)

Note that several topics have been merged.

I take some of your points, but I believe that my main reason of hammer having no new special feature (Thunder has splash damage) is a real let-down. I would like to mention that you can see the orange bits of hammer's shots, and the poor range (proved  by the question of the week) means that unless it is next to you (where you can see it) it will make no difference whatsoever to your health. I was excited by the new gun, but it is a bit disappointing, and should really be classed as a short-range weapon! Hope machine gun is better.

It's been a few weeks now since this topic was started and back then I would have agreed with most of the early comments, i.e. good short range weapon but the reload time should make it an easy target. But my view has changed, at least as far as CTF/CP battles are concerned. Mounted on a medium hull that can take some damage is proving a very effective combination for attackers. I'm seeing CTF match after match where the outcome is determined almost exclusively by which side has the most Hammers. You can see them becoming more and more popular. I should point out I don't have a hammer - I've been on the receiving end of these attacks :). The one shot, one kill ability of the Hammer at close range means that the defenders don't often get the opportunity to exploit the reload time - they're usually too busy re-spawning while the Hammer strolls off with the flag.

I think the idea of introducing a new turrent without defensive paint availability is a good one. It gives people more  incentive to try the new turrent. But it has been nearly a month now and the scales are tipped too far in the Hammer's favour. Bring on the defensive paints! Maybe that will balance things back up again.

I'm a bit confused about Hammer. I bought Hammer M 0 and did 3 micro-upgrades for damage.

1)...My Hammer goes Bam.....Bam.....Bam. While others go BamBamBam. By the time I get the second shot off, I'm dead. Does the Hammers shoot faster as it is upgraded from M1 and above?

2)...I have been able to get 3 shots off at point blank range, but have yet to kill anyone with it (unless they are already heavily damaged). On the Noise map, I was on blue team coming up the wide ramp, where the blue container is. As I turned to go up towards red territory (where the flag is), I saw a Mammoth with Hammer sitting on the lower platform. Before I could make the full 90 degree turn, he had nailed me with 2 deadly shots. (Bam-Bam you're dead). That seemed quite a distance for deadly shots. Similar thing happened on Serpuhov. I was on blue heading for the cliff on the left near the wall. I just cleared the buildings when a Hammer at the top of the cliff hit me twice taking about 90% of my health. Before I could back up to safety, he let off another shot and killed me. That seemed like a long distance for a Hammer, too. So, what exactly is meant by "medium range?"

3)...I use Hornet M2 with several micro-upgrades to protection and have been one-shotted by a Hammer, even though I had 100% health.

4)...Hammers have tipped me over with one shot. I can't do that. Does that come with several micro-upgrades or are we talking about M1 and above, again? (My own team mates have done that to me while I was carrying the flag and then waited until either I committed suicide or got killed so they could claim the flag for themselves).

Because of my inability to perform as so many other players do with Hammer, I have abandoned it.

I think Hammer is a curse in team matches because of its ability to easily flip other tanks. The ease with which it flips other tanks brings out the worst in players who spend most of their match time flipping team members.

It has gotten to the point that in nearly all team matches with Hammers, there will be at least one attempt to flip you. In many of the matches Hammers spend more time flipping friendly tanks - demanding flags or for 'revenge' of some perceived slight - than actually playing for the team.

The Hammer turns players into the equivalent of YouTube commenters and it keeps getting worse.

I think Hammer is good, but only when assaulting flag, when enemy team has heavy hull with fast reload gun, like Mammoth + Smoky/Twins. He can do peek-a-boo tactic like railgun then. Or just fire 3 shots and hide. It's bad against Hornet or any fast hull because when you will fire 3 shots and Hornet won't die it's going to kill you. Mammoth will be too slow.
