Smoky VS. Thunder

So which one of these are would you use more often? They are excellent turrets,but,they all have disadvantages in you opinion what would be a better weapon?

It's matter of choice; smoky for drug battles, thunder for normal gameplay

Smoky is better.

• no self-damage
• range isn't a problem since most popular maps are average in size
• faster reload therefore faster switching between targets
• faster reload also means a miss doesn't give you such a big disadvantage
• bigger knockback (and potential knockback per minute is bigger) compared to thunder
• added bonus of the critical hit

Thunder kills multiple enemies at once with drugs, smoky I love it because when a Smoky VS. railgun happens i love knocking his/her shot off.

Smokey only after M2 upgrade. I'm using Shaft on a Hunter Hull to race thru the ranks and get the XP And crystals to buy the Upgrade for Smokey. Smokey is a hidden gem of the Game. Some of the top players in the game use a M2 Smokey or better.  Shaft with the laser is really good if you have the skills to use it effectively like some of us. It's a great sucker gun like Smokey. A lot of people mistake it as a recruit gun and run up to it thinking they will get a easy kill and get boned instead. Smokey is good after M2 upgrade and Thunder is good with a Double red Box only at M1 and dangerous at M2 with or without a Double impact Box.

Well said, shaft's laser gives away its position,so its kinda easy to plan out and flank the shaft, I use M2 smoky and M3 thunder, I personally think Smoky is better because of its knock back, Like so with the Railgun, Players with Railgun hate smoky probably.

Smoky m2 is more flexible, it can go up against anything and still have a fighting chance due to its high ROF and critical hit. If thunder goes close range, it is screwed.

If Smoky goes long range it is screwed don't forget that. Choosing between the two is hard, i'd have to flip a coin.

Im both smoky and thunder user, but thunder ftw. Thunder requires way more skill if you want to perform well. I mean, thunder has a dam self damage, it's a big disadvantage against smokies. But, a skilled thunder can beat a smoky.

Thunder for me - actually very similar damage rate (2400 compared to 2550) but significantly better range and splash which can do a lot of things - hit multiple targets (perfect for some modes such as CP) And hit enemies that aren't in direct line of sight.

 

Smoky specialises at short- medium range, but as above, the damage advantage isn't too significant.

 

So I would give thunder the advantage in terms of damage dealing.

 

Smoky has great impact force, but I would take Thunder's splash anyday. The advantages there way outweigh the self harm downsides overall imo. Furthermore, wear a self protecting paint like clay and this is even less significant.

But in your view you neglect the ability of making critical hits by smoky. So I think splash of thunder and critical hits of smoky make both the turrets quite balanced.

The thing I hate about using thunder is a lot of players like to get up in my face hoping I'll kill myself or they'll kill me before I'm able to kill them, which is really really annoying. In my experience, using thunder is pretty handy only if you have a paint that protects you from thunder because these incidences like I pointed out are quite common, especially in battles in Silence, Noise, and Sandbox. But because of smoky's infamous critical hit and its over-powered impact force, I'd have to go with smoky.

I recently purchased M1 Thunder (as you can see by my rank) and I have to say, I am enjoying it greatly. However, I don't think I will stick with Thunder once im in the higher ranks. If you look at the stats, smokey M2 would defeat an M2 Thunder one on one. For now though, M1 Thunder is OP at this rank, so for now im siding with Thunder.
