Regarding Chat Violators Section being removed

 Share

Recommended Posts

So why was this removed in the first place? I believe that by doing this tanki is showing their laziness to their full potential.

So you removed a section of the game which will(and has already) opened a can of worms so to speak.

I've reported someone for clearly hacking accounts. He joined a battle of mine and said who wants diamonds(must have been a foreigner) and I said I do. So then he said add me, invited me to a battle, and asked me for my password. Claiming to give me crystals and gissimo rank. I posted all pictures in reports section and I get this message.

From now on, the Chat Violations sections is closed.

So can I go around stealing players accounts and get away scott free and have no punishment? That is what I'm gathering from what the forums says. The rules say one thing but the mods say another. How comical.

Yep. I've also noticed a LOT of cussing, and when I ask why, they reply by saying that it's because the Chat Violator's section is closed.

It's great ain't it?

Apparently asking players for their passwords and claiming to give them crystals is considered a "chat violation"

Soooo it's fair game eh?

I think there's some issues coming up with moderations (bugs) that are being worked out. Also, over-flow of reports that need to be sorted out. HOWEVER, keep taking screen shots of those violators, and get them busted when it opens up again,

Hello :)

Chat violators' section will not be opened again. The reason for its closure was the fact that chat moderators were spending too much time on the forum, working on reports instead of being active on the chat, preventing violations by helping and educating tankers in the real time. Also, the administration felt that confrontation is not the way to do things, and that It is better to educate than to punish.

Our goal is to have a lot of active moderators helping players, really soon. Please be patient until we reach that goal. Until then, feel free to block offensive players.

^In theory, that's a brilliant idea. But even if you manage to cover the chat lobby of all servers, you'll never be able to cover all the battles where all the real swearing happens. The internet is an anonymous place. This is why a lot of people tend to swear, troll, flame, etc. Earlier, the fear of bans used to prevent such stuff. But since you do not accept chat violation reports anymore, they do such activities without any fear. A lot of players here are very young. Such activities may harm them psychologically. I believe that you should choose a middle ground. You should start accepting reports again but when a new player violates the rules for a first time, you should reach out to him/her and acquaint them with the rules of the game.

The same can be said for the life itself - no matter how many teachers, police officers, lawyers and judges you have in the world, there will always be those who will break the law and go unpunished.

The same situation is in here - we're trying our best to make the game enjoyable, and a fun place for everyone, but with tens of thousands of players online each day, it's impossible for us to cover, talk to and help all of them, as it is impossible to prevent every violation. So for now, it's up to us all - we are trying to prevent future problems and offences by informing low ranked players who are new to the game about the rules, but seasoned players can help by talking to them too :) That way, instead of reporting them, they can help them realise their mistake - from one player to another.

if you do find one and you have proof you can always send it to tanki and they will take care of it

and i agree for it to be closed and then not... only cause if we do have a problem in a chat room there should be staff to deal with this in violators area and on line to report it too ..but we don`t know who is working and this is a problem to report when you don`t see a mod on line ..some of the servers mods are on more then one and when its a big problem on another server they don`t check on the other sites until the problem is fixed so we should have some way to access to a mod or indicate who is on what servers so we can report a issue..

It's a good idea, but then mods will probably be overwhelmed with notifications... We do have ideas how to improve the system of moderation, but it is up to developers to see and decide if they can be implemented.

ok but they should have a customer service person screening these and only sending in the true ones to get banned

..like what pc jack and other mod consultants do they give minor banns to players but the bigger ones are sent to a mod for further banns ..

I understand your goal of preventing violations by educating players. The main problem is that very few violators break the rules because of unawareness. Most of them do it because they can break the rules and yet, avoid the scalding reprimands by society due to the anonymity of the internet. The fear of bans is the only way to check such players.

I disagree. We do have constant rule-breakers as well. We simply try to do our best - this is a game, after all, and we cannot expect to change players the way parents or society can. We also do not want to make anyone be in fear, but to enjoy this game. So we are moving toward a resolution that can be fruitful to everyone. But for now, as I said, you always have an option to block offensive players.

No one said you guys should be doing our job. I simply suggested that you all (aka. experienced players) help new ones, since we were all rookies once too. Spread the joy, you know. It is the time of the season when we should be jolly, and enjoy giving :)

"Our goal is to have a lot of active moderators helping players, really soon. Please be patient until we reach that goal. Until then, feel free to block offensive players."

I don't get it. Couldn't you have kept the Chat Violator's section OPEN until you've gotten more active moderators?

You have enabled anarchy by closing it so soon.

Are you even sure you can get enough "active" moderators "soon?"

Besides, has the "educating" rule breakers been proven to work yet?

And if the rule-breaker does not comply? Will he at least get a ban?

The ./Vote function does not even work. I am very doubtful about this.

Trying to be positive about it, but I can't.

"We also do not want to make anyone be in fear, but to enjoy this game."

They would only be in fear if they are breaking the chat rules, and harassing other players. They are the obstacle to others being able to enjoy the battle.

"but with tens of thousands of players online each day, it's impossible for us to cover, talk to and help all of them, as it is impossible to prevent every violation."

Yeah, that's why it's up to all of us to keep the environment safer. I tried this "educating", "communicating," and being "nice," as well, but all I get is even more swearing, and cussing. And the anger even gets directed at me. Obviously we have players who are arrogant, and very verbally violent. Without this Chat Violator's section, players have no leverage at all - at least in my experiences.

Yes, yes and yes :)

Please try to be positive and give us a chance. Every change and every invention needs some time to start working. And as I said, our goal is not to "reform" and/or "change" players, this is not a correctional facility but an online game. And if we manage to make majority of players enjoy it, it's enough for us. As for the rest - the simple solution is to use Ignore function; that's why it was implemented in the first place.

Tanki is pretty much an anonymous game, you don't know who you are playing against and they don't know who you are.

SO what does it matter what they say?

If you choose to tell your life story on an open chat then be prepared for troll's.

What is the most reports, probably being called gay. BIG DEAL!

I do think for a game with a wide range of ages playing,  perverts should still be moderated ie: anything sexual.

other then that, just ignore, troll's hate being ignored.

While this goal is still being held true to heart, given the apparent yearning to have the section returned, in combination with decisions on the developers, the section has been opened again. We hope to see this be productive, while Chat Moderators are becoming increasingly active in the chats in regards to their social interaction with players. Thanks for your patience.
