Other [Issue 30] Poem: What Happened?

Total, all-encompassing power,

Here for a minute, and gone for an hour.

This is the course a daydream takes you,

But come the end, you realize it was once true.

You fondly recall the things you could do,

And realize now, your options are quite few.

That friend is gone, and that one was banned,

And now you're still here, but with none to command.

As your life's path up to here comes to focus,

You find all you did was in subservience to one purpose.

That reason, having fun, is common among most,

But it's also the reason your present desires lack a host.

It was a shallow thing to want, let us be honest,

But you were never one whose hopes were modest.

Now, after your enjoyment is through

You find yourself with nothing to do.

"What happened?" you wonder, sitting down from the jolt,

And it comes to you at last;

This was your life, and it had to unfold.
