Hello Tankers welcome to a new series of articles about my opinion about anything. Today I have chosen to share my thoughts on the newest turret 'Hammer'. Note that this article is based on just my opinion; you may think differently about this turret feel free to share your own thoughts in a comment below!

  • My opinion about 'Hammer'.

  • The most suitable hull?

  • The most suitable map?

  • How to protect against the turret?

My opinion about 'Hammer'

Hammer on test — the test 'Hammer' had a different look to the in-game 'Hammer', although it was as powerful as it is now. The prices were equal to the in-game 'Hammer' as well. It was mainly the different looks that made the difference between the test and final versions of 'Hammer', but there was one more difference: the shot effects. Compare the two picture below; and you can see that you can kinda guess the direction of the bullets. This makes the gun more controllable than before.

Is Hammer too powerful? During the last few weeks I have noticed that Hammer seems to be very powerful. My experience during gameplay agrees with this, but we can't protect ourselves with a protection paint against Hammer which could be the problem. As part of the New Year celebrations you are able to buy the paint 'Frost' which protects you against any gun including Hammer, as well as mines. The only problem might be the price of the paint, although it will be less expensive soon!

The last point of discussion about Hammer and it's power is the damage on light hulls. The HP of my M3 Wasp is fully micro upgraded, but during a battle I got killed at once by a Hammer. I'm not sure if it was a micro upgraded Hammer or just an M3 Hammer, but I survive many (micro upgraded) Rail shots without being killed. To me, this fact makes Hammer much too powerful — let's await the upcoming paints!

The most suitable hull?

Light hulls – are you serious? Hammer on a light hull? At first it looks kinda dumb, although actually it’s a pretty good combination. You are fast, powerful and a real enemy for anyone. You can shoot and ruin the health of the the enemies and run to wait for the reload time of your turret. Once your turret has reloaded you are ready to rock again. Hammer is very powerful; by hitting enemies at the corner of their tank you can easily make them miss. Also if a Railgun tries to flip you by hitting your turret; you can shoot to the side of your tank to make an extra flip and so avoid being flipped. Again an example of the power of Hammer.
  • Fast, powerful and manoeuvrable.
  • Great combination to attack.
Medium hulls – in my opinion this is a worse combination, though it’s just what kind of player you are. Medium hulls aren’t that fast and also aren’t that strong. This makes me prefer Hammer together with a light or heavy hull. So, are medium hulls and Hammer a bad combination? They are for team battles, though in a deathmatch it can be a good combination. In a deathmatch you are too weak with a light hull and too slow with a heavy hull. If you combine a medium hull, Hammer and a good paint you will receive good results in deathmatches.
  • Not too slow, not too weak and powerful.
  • Great combination for deathmatches.
Heavy hulls – the ultimate combination to defend nowadays? No paints against Hammer except one expensive paint and a beast of a tank to destroy for the enemy. In my opinion this is a great combination to defend. With three shots you can destroy much of the health of your enemies and your heavy hull with some supplies is strong enough to survive enemies’ shots and reload to fire again.
  • Slow, but very strong and powerful.
  • Great combination to defend in team battles.

The most suitable map?

Small maps – Hammer is weak at these maps, because here there is no way to reload at a safe place where no one can hit you etc. Here I should recommend a medium or heavy hull, depending on if you are attacking or defending.
  • Recommended hull: Dictator
  • Tactic: Try to have at least 2 supplies activated.
Medium maps – the best maps for Hammer in my opinion; here there is enough space to reload, a short distance to the enemy base and a short trip back to your own base. In this case I would combine Hammer with Hornet to be stable and fast.
  • Recommended hull: Hornet
  • Tactic: ruin their health, run to a safe place to reload and attack again.
Large maps – the big maps are bad for Hammer? Well, you should use at least a light hull and attack by the sides of the map to avoid damage from enemy shots before you arrive in their base. Once in their base take the flag as fast as possible and try to run to your own base. It’s speed that matters in these maps, if you attack at top speed you have the best chance at succeeding.
  • Recommended hull: Wasp
  • Tactic: Speed; attack fast from the sides and then run away to the sides.
My favourite map with Hammer – personally I have no real favourite map to play with Hammer, although I think I played with Hammer quite a bit in Silence. Using the tunnels combined with the shotgun can result in great stuff. Although you must make sure that you have always 3 shots ready. So if you have one shot left, just shoot against the wall and let the gun reload while you are driving to their base. In the meantime I always press nitro and double armour to make a fast attack to surprise the enemy.

How to protect yourself against the turret?
  • The first and most expensive way to protect yourself against Hammer is by renting the paint 'Frost'. This paint will give you 20% protection against any gun including Hammer.[/size]
  • The second and less expensive way compared to the first way is to buy Hammer itself. If you can't protect yourself against the gun, then the other Hammer users can't either.
Wait a second — isn't buying and upgrading Hammer is more expensive than that paint — that's right! However, you forget about something. You will only rent  the paint for a few days only and Hammer will stay in your garage forever. That's why buying Hammer is more useful than buying Frost.

Final Conclusion

Hammer is a cool addition to anyone's garage, although if you doubt if you are going to play with it I recommend getting other stuff first. Personally I have always loved Railgun, so after a few days of playing with Hammer I’m going to play with my Railgun again

Nice article man, :) waiting for new paints to be live, but what i think is: if 50% against hammer is out, hammer will be nerfed, in other words, it will be like useless, so if max protection is 40% it will be okay. :)

Well personally I hated the gun mainly for how unrealistic it is (I'ma country kid that likes shootin' stuff with bug guns), and ppl say that its so posed 2 be futuristic and I'm like "Um in the future R guns worse than now?" cuz its unrealistic in a bad way.

and I just wasn't very good with it, although I only have m0 but m1 is really expensive so pry won't get m1 for a while.

I think the new Hammer turret should be removed.  My reason for such an opinion is this it removes the advantages of various other turrets such as thunder and rail-gun and more.  Rail-gun had the best impact but not anymore also thunder was the only turret to damage more than one tank not now.  Another draw back is it makes it easier for people to team sabotage like flipping your own team.   I am excited to see the machine gun it has an all hole new idea and is not much like any current turret.

to the powers that be at tanki ...i dont mind hammer being powerful BUT would it not have been fairer to supply the paint to protect against hammer at the same time, and which paints that are already on offer are you going to add protection to. like most who play tanki i have spent a great deal of time effort and (my choice i no ) money on upgrading my choice of hulls and turrets. YET those who choose to use hammer and are of a decent rank can add a powerful gun to there collection and have a major impact on a battle. at my rank the only way i have of destroying hammer is with shaft at a distance (its full m3). my rico which is full m2 even with my improved turret skills (turning turret on the move) usually ends up 2nd best against a hammer of similar rank.the underlying question is HOW IS THIS FAIR. YOU REALLY HAVE,NT THOUGHT THIS THROUGH. (are have you) yet again as my main weapon is shaft you have blighted me and other shaft users with a HUGE disadvantage. here is an idea take a paint from each rank and give it 20% protection against hammer to start with now thats fair.

Not good with medium hulls hey?

Planning to get hammer dictator, good assault combo.Tested on test server, got an awesome D/L (it was M3 tough, better than viking only at that stage, but i love dictator's shape and behaving).

In my opinion wasp is not stable enough for hammer and hornet is a bit too weak if you get to face someone with a close range in a confined space: I receomend to at least use hunter for this powerful babe.

my favourits turrets are hammer and freeze but i am little dissapointed with freeze because the admins in tanki decrease the damage so it is very hard .compare fire bird when its m2 it has 50.3 damage and ever burning damage while freeze m2 has still 42 damage and even no damage this is really unfair . next fire bird m3 60.4 damage freeze m3 53.6 damge. please in crease the damage of freeze if you want make it expensive as fire bird but please in increase i hope you think about this.

The Hammer together with the Titan has been working out really good for me. i'm still First Sergeant, so i just have Titan M1, but it's really good for pushing the enemy team on smaller open maps. I've been using it before that with Hornet on Esplanade (CTF to be precise), and went down the tunnels and the mid section, where i got quite some kills.
