How to improve your parkour skills

 Share

Recommended Posts

I'm sure we all want to improve our parkour skills, but I'm not sure how many of us know HOW to do it. In this article I share with you all the tips I can think about, and I might add more later if I will have more ideas or if you will give me some.

The most basic thing I can think about is to learn the physics of the game, how parkour works. I will write a detailed article about it and maybe even make a video tutorial. I am not going to explain it in detail right now as I am sure most of you already know it.

The second basic thing is learning all the most popular and useful parkour tricks. You can read about all of them and see videos of these tricks in the Parkour dictionary.

If you have mastered all the most useful parkour tricks, it doesn't mean you know all parkour tricks. There are lots of not popular parkour tricks that are useful only in very rare cases so almost nobody knows them. Keep experimenting and be creative, you might even invent new useful parkour tricks.

Learn from other skilled parkourists, many of them have something to teach you.

Parkour is not just climbing stuff. There are many things you can do with parkour, and many ways you can do parkour. Learn different parkour styles:

OMP - learn to climb more places by yourself, be able to reach places that most player can reach only with the help of one or more tanks.

Tandem parkour - learn to use the limited power you have in the best way, to be able to reach every place without needing a whole team of parkourists.

Parkour fighting - train your ability to climb stuff fast while dealing with enemies (or trolls) that try to fail you.

Limited equipment parkour - master different kinds of equipment and learn to do parkour when you have some limitations. Also useful for parkour fighting to learn to climb stuff with worse parkour equipment that is very powerful in battles. (most popular limited equipment styles are Isida parkour and Viking parkour)

Play different parkour minigames, they are fun and they are also a good way to practice. Examples for parkour minigames:

flip fight - practice controlling the tank better, don't get flipped no matter how many players shoot you and from what direction you are being shot. Also trains your ability to control the motion of other tanks by shooting them.

Parkour race (solo and team) - become faster at climbing stuff, improve the co-operation of your team.

To see the full list of parkour minigames, see this topic.

That's it for now, please let me know if my tips helped you, and reply with your own tips!

I will make more articles to extend this topic, add useful links and help you as much as I can.

False: If people think they are not good at parkour, their immediate thought would be to practice or develop their own tricks. Anyways, what you wrote is also a correct.

Many people think about "practice", but many of them don't have someone to guide them and tell them what exactly to improve, no one to teach them new tricks and to show them how much they still need to learn. I made this topic to guide players and give them an effective way for learning parkour.

Yes, but there are "others" who can develop their skills through imagination. Just as you said, you need creativity, several think that they can make their practice sets for themselves on their own. But if they are to spend less time on that and utilise more on learning and mastering those resourceful tricks, learning from the pro's is the ultimatum option.

You have to love parkour if you want to be good in it. If you love it, you just need to parkour a lot and you will improve your skills, you don't have to do specific things. But if you don't like parkour, you will never be good at it.

It did help me to look at others sometimes, even though I love parkour it still didn't hurt to get some inspiration. But yes, it's definitely possible to learn it all alone.

True to that, dear friend.

OMP isnt that useful

Are you sure? Do you know how many things are possible in OMP? In this video you can see just a little bit of what can be done alone:

Still think that OMP isn't that uesful? :)

Suggestion: Why not make a topic for all hot spots in the most popular maps for parkour fighting?

I plan to make parkour fighting video guides, I'll post them in this topic and in the parkour videos topic. Each video will be about other map, I'll show there both the positions you can climb alone and those who require another player, and some other parkour tricks that help in stuff like capturing the flag.

EJ requires a fast tank, if you have Wasp M2 it should work great. Other than that the only thing you need is practice. It's better to look at the video to see how I do it, it's harder to learn when you look from the side.

@Guitardragon2, I tested it and it is possible to EJ with Wasp M1 too, didn't test with M0 but I assume it is possible but a bit shorter. There is a house in the map Forest that you can get on it easily with EJ with Wasp M1 and maybe M0 too.
