Let's Discuss Equipment Combos!

I play around with random combos and not sure what the best is. any ideas and or suggestion?

There are different combos good in different maps, gamemodes and situations.

I think firebird, ricochet and thunder are three really powerful turrets, if used correctly. Combine them with a light or medium hull and you're good to go. 

Each turret has it's own advantages and disadvantages, the trick is to avoid the disadvantages and to make full use of the advantages.

For example with Thunder, keep your distance and make sure not to place yourself in a corner. Use the splash damage to hit opponents behind a wall or to hit several opponents in one shot. With firebird, make use of everything that can serve as cover (walls, other tanks, buildings, trees) to get closer to opponents without getting hit (much). Burn them and take cover again.

With ricochet, you can also use the bouncing to hit players around a corner, pick your targets right (you will run out of ammo if you try to destroy a heavy hull with a module against ricochet) and take cover again to recharge. 

The most important thing though is that you just need to practice with the turrets to get better at using them.

Shaft + Mammoth over XP/BP any day.

Because who the hell wants to be flipped over by your own gun, thats not a smart thing to do, its better to have a heavy and tough hull alongside your sniper weapon so that you can survive a ton of damage(because light hulls get easily destroyed and medium hulls now get oneshot too.) and all of the recoil is absorbed due to the heavy weight,

I get a ton of kills with Shaft & Mammoth and barely die at all, and its funny to watch your foes to try and kill you only to end up dead in the blink of an eye,

What SHOULD be used:

Heavy Hulls = sniper weapons like shaft,railgun, This includes Striker and other highly destructive long ranged but slow turrets.

Pros: Counters Light hull snipers and short ranged weapons(which the reverse is also true, short ranged weapons also counter long range, so they pretty much cancel each other out)

Cons: slow reload, and ur weakness is short-ranged weapon light hulls, which you also counter.

Medium Hulls = long-mid range weapons like smokey and thunder(lets be honest those weapons are trash with heavy hulls).

Pros = balanced

Cons = balanced

Light Hulls = mid-short ranged weapons,Like isida, freezer, firebird, and hammer.

pros = anti-sniper(by ambushing them), Capturing stuff is easier.

cons = get rekt by pro snipers ez, and hammer rekts ur face.

All = fast firing turrets with any hull.

pros = good for newbies

cons = it sucks sometimes.

Best combo is shaft-titan in any situation.

I barely use this combo but do you use any of Shaft's alterations when you are playing with this combo? If not, it is worth giving it a try especially that alteration which makes Shaft deal extra damage. If you prefer using Shaft in close or small maps than the other alteration is your best option, this is what I do when I use this combo you mentioned, I don't know about you tho.

Common combo that I see a lot, especially in high ranks. Not bad, I personally would say Twins + Titan.

M2 thunder+ m2 viking+ winter paint= midnight assassin kit

 

M2 twins (with STP alt)+ m2 viking+ digital paint= gladiator kit

 

M2 shaft+ m2 viking+ sandstone paint= sandstone sniper kit

 

 

And who says that the camouflage paints don't make the tank look good? :D

I love my thunder, don't get me wrong. But in the high ranks, there are so many players with thunder protection modules.

 

If you asked me how many, I would just say "too many".

Thunder; weird enough because of it's boring- almost transparent explosion.
It's like an enlarged version of Smoky's explosion which just looks weird.
 
Remember that high contrasty explosions from back in the day?

I felt Thunder did more damage than before, now it's like I shoot with orange flowers or something. I think it also has to with the fact that Thunder has less knockback than Smoky even though its explosion is bigger, which makes it out of proportion.

Feels weird, it somehow makes me use it less than before ever since the graphics update back in 2012..

 

Now if Thunder had the same explosion as Magnum that would be great. Magnum's explosion has plenty of contrast. It's actually just like Striker's explosion. Those are quite new turrets. Why not update Thunder's explosion while you're at it; the texture is in the game I guess. :D

For me I hate smoky because it takes ages to kill titans and mammoths, but I like it because I can knock off railgun's shot and 1 shot wasps with DD

It's either marine or swash that you're referring to.
