Let's discuss Deathmatch (DM)

Twins + Mammoth is good because it can quickly switch between targets, so if someone steals your kill, you can instantly move on to the next target without waiting for 5-7 seconds. I would say Twins, Thunder and Smoky on a heavy hull are all good for DM due to their fast reload and lack of fuel tank (like firebird/rico).

Since the experiment, DMs amount has been gradually decreasing. Now I can't find a DM in RU1 like 4 hours beforr server update. Before they used to be at least 5 poly DMs filled.

Yes which is not good for me because that the only game mode which gives me good cry per XP and mults don't effect me either however players these days dont tend to notice that :(

Too bad it 's getting less popular.

 

TO let 's you start with it, but most Tankers go to play CTF as soon as possible.

 

CTF can be really great and I definitely had some of my best TO moments in them.

If two decent teams are fighting with each other and both teams are more or less

of equal strength: than the experience is hard to beat with another gamemode.

 

Still DM gets too much overlooked IMO. There is no better "school" as a Death Match to teach you

to stand on your own feet in every other gamemode that TO has to offer.

 

I 'll never forget the first time in entered a Polygon DM: I though you must be completely mad

to enter a battle in such a killers arena!

Impossible to stay alive there for more than a few seconds.

Never, never again I would go to that Map of pure Insanity again...

 

Well, either I learnt to deal with it or I 'm also completely mad:

it 's now still one of my favourite Maps to play a DM.

 

The biggest problem the gamemode DM has I suppose, is that it is a "lonely" gamemode.

Most of the time your all by yourself and not everyone likes that so much.

 

Though you can make a team with another player. (or even players)

Which can be very nice and very profitable for both. A good teammate in a DM will help you

when you are under attack and vice versa.

 

A lot of players would benefit immensly if they would join a DM once in a while.

It 's a hard gamemode that doesn 't allow you to hide your own shortcomings in gameplay.

 

You can 't afford to be lazy in a DM and you have to be on full alert all the time.

(if you feel that your attention is slipping: take a break)

Situational awareness which can only be achieved by good cameracontrol is essential.

 

Driving fluently forwards and backwards no matter how your hull is positioned,

aiming, shooting and hitting opponents all of it at the same time should be your

goal if you really want to compete in a DM.

 

Skills learned in DM can be easily translated into other gamemodes.

It doesn 't work quite as good the other way around IMO.

 

DM, together with a gamemode like XP/BP is the fastest, but also the hardest

way to get a skilled Tanker: well, the best things don 't come easy.

DM is my favorite gamemode. I don't have to rely on teammates to get my $$. You can't mult there, or be annoyed by mults. It's like there's no rules xD

I (and others) find it difficult to find appropriate CP battles. Others say there are fewer TDM games around. Now I read that DM games are increasing difficult to find.

 

I really think that dedicated battle-mode servers would help - as I suggested in the 'ideas and suggestions' section.

 

People are being spread thinly over many servers, causing them to waste a lot of time trawling them to find a decent battle - if my experience is anything to go by. I expect that CTF doesn't have such a problem as it is much more popular.

 

If there were dedicated CP, TDM and DM servers, everyone would know to go there - so there would be many more battles created and more people to fill them. More time would be spent playing rather than searching - for me anyway! The ratio of dedicated servers would be in proportion to the general popularity of each battle mode - but could, of course, be adjusted up or down depending on demand.

 

I used to only play DM, but I must admit that I got a bit bored eventually - and the lack of crystal drops has made the experience a bit empty for me. It's not that I needed the crystals, but it just added another dimension to the gameplay - though I entirely agree with not having crystal drops in team games.
