Howdy Tankers!

We have went through many complaints from our dear players which we received from e-mails and PMs. We have brought many updates recently, and many complaints were against the updates. Let's have a fast look on what we have done!

 

Impact force of Railgun and Smoky

>Most of the tankers said that the impact force of Railgun and smoky are too high due to flipping the tanks. Most of the format battle players faces difficulties in playing the game, especially tankers who faces opponents with Railguns. We have now lowered the impact force of Railgun and smoky to it's minimum, but as flipping is our part of the game, Skilled players still can use their skills to flip a player in- game.

 

In-game Lags

Our Tech support team have received immense number of e-mails about complaint on Lags. This was mainly due to the recent updates which we have bought in the game. Here are some solutions:-

>Update your flash player to the latest version

>Play the game fullscreen mode( Press f11 to activate or fn+f11 to activate, this is for most new laptops)

At the moment we are taking all necessary steps to decrease the in-game lag

 

Hackers

Game violators section has been filled up with many videos and descriptions on fly hackers. Most of the videos are recorded in Polygon battles where hackers catches gold by flying.

We will be rebuilding the In-game Hack Proof System which will have advanced senses to detect any Tanker from using any hack tool to hack the Game.We will keep you updated on this.

Note:- Any Tanker who will get caught to the new Hack Proof System will get his/her account banned forever and will never be returned as said in Rules.

 

We are planning some new daily contests except just giving Supplies or Crystals when you log on each day.

This will make the game more diverse, the new daily contests will be packed with very simple tasks, but remember higher your rank the more difficult contest with more rewards.

 

We will be intending in increasing Tanki' s popularity among Gamers around the world, We will be visiting new Game Expos and showing off our game and will be having cool events to entertain the visitors and gamers who participate there.

Good morning , tankers!

Welcome on the National tankist square! Yeah, only National square. I'm really glad that we have gathered here in such large numbers. I hope you are having a good time for now, but here is a major meeting point. Everybody please welcome our developer Mich, he will talk you about Tanki´s future!

 

Hello everybody!

First I want tell you about problems , what you have found in the game. On twitter you often write – What about earlier battle end? If you remember, there were all the time notifications. Now we need some time for make it absolutely perfect. Another problem – flying hackers. They are taking gold boxes and that you don´t like, it´s natural. Stopping them is in progress. We are trying to make special software. If they will log in the game with enabled hack tool, they will be automatically kicked, next time permanently banned.

 

Now that what you like most. Updates! Yes, there will be news and we hope you will like them. Don´t want get surprised? Okay! Here are some planned news. New hull is testing , but there are still some problems that we need fix so it can´t be yet added in the game. New game modes like survivor or season events, first you will see in near future, at Easter. And new update , which you will really like – make your own paint! In garage will be empty slot for the paint. You will have more than thirty templates , which you can choose. You can add to the paint protection for crystal cost from one to fifty percent. That will cost some crystals, higher protections , higher amount. You naturally can´t have fifty percent on recruit after buying crystals, you need to unlock it on higher ranks. Higher rank , higher protection is possible to have.

 

Some questions?

Hm yes, how to increase Tanki's popularity amongst gamers? Nobody likes internet advertisements, so this isn´t planned. We want make our own magazine with news in the game, information about updates, and of course contests, something like v-logs, published one time per month. We will have ads in other magazines or tv channels too. If you don´t want buy magazine, there will be simplified version of it as online magazine on our website and social sites.

DEVELOPER FOR A DAY

 

There's only a day between me and death and the only thing I have with is  a wish. W+I+S+H means 58 and D+E+A+T+H means 38 so wish is stronger than death.My wish is "If I were a developer,...

 

Knowing your death is coming near,your whole journey of life becomes vivid-all problems,mistakes,sorrows,joy.Already faced bright and dark sides of life,some problems squander my life which I couldn't solve as normal person.So to pay back and strangle those problems,I wish I could become a developer.

 

Tears are falling: not because of fear of death,but,of incompleteness of task of life that I was sent for.If I cannot address those problems,what have I lived for?If I cannot discover solutions,what was I living for?

Questions circulate in my mind and I wish I could blow off problems and find solutions.

 

I beat my head into wall.Little scraps occur and blood flows.Hey God,I offer you my life before a day but take these problems away before my death.A vague image appears at distance and becomes clearer and clearer when approaches near.It was death angel.I said I have few hours left.The angel replied,"yes my son .I'm here to grant you a wish."I cried with a smile in my face.Suddenly I was in a battle.

 

One was flying like a bird as if the atmosphere was without gravity.Oh my God He was committing a sordid act.When the yellow fruit from heaven was falling ,he was about to get it by flying but I anchored him with a chain.Neither he could move nor he could leave.Another was speaking in a vulgar way that nearly tore off my ears.I shut his mouth by sewing with a pin and thread.Almost all clear.But as my little son's stumble walk, few were stumbling.Poor kids.I increased their number to turn green.They were delighted so was I.One was using red boxes a lot as if he's addicted.I advised him not to use it more because you are irritating son.5 minutes left for the end The blue and red numbers were 989 each.I made fall of 25 yellow fruits from heaven and all got at least once.The last countdown 10,9,8 and i began to suffocate and when it became 0 I closed my eyes.When I opened my eyes I was beside death angel in a new world.I thanked for giving the most precious moment of y entire life.

 

After that I was in heaven,a soul of no sin and been granted as a writer of future.When I was with my duty,I wrote-clean environment with no bad words,yellow fruit of heaven for everyone everyday and one flying like bird in the cage.I made my last wish,the most true to happen in future.

Firstly, we have the dreaded mults—the players who come to your team with no purpose of working for your team. Originally, they did this by standing around waiting for crystals and doing nothing else, a problem that was sadly solved by removing crystal boxes from the game.  However, we still have hundreds, probably thousands, of mults who want to stop fun in the game today—and that’s too many. So I propose that we let our players strike back, and reimplement the kick system to remove mults! The vote system is currently ineffective in most cases, due to the time taken for a moderator to attend to the problem. Obviously, it mustn’t have the same problem as last time where certain players abuse the system to kick out members of the team so that they can earn more crystals for themselves—this can be done by restricting the option to kick to those who have a low score to minute ratio, for example. Surely Tanki Online will finally become enjoyable at the optimal level in team matches again?

 

Secondly, we have the task of withdrawing one of the most hated updates in Tanki Online history—changes to the battle list. This update garnered hundreds of downvotes from our loyal tankers, and I have been thinking that we could fix it easily. The main cause for conflict in that update was, you guessed it, the fact that we were forced to play private battles at a cost rather than for free. This was made worse by the fact that you could no longer pay 500 crystals for a one-off PRO battle, but instead you had to shell out 5000 crystals for a month PRO pass. However, this can easily be solved if we reinstate things back to how they were—free private battles, and the ability to pay for a one-off PRO battle. We have also noticed that the rank limit update was very unpopular with most tankers, so if I am put into the role of developer I will change it so that the default for the rank limit range is as it is now, but it can be customised to be larger if required. Do you want our mistakes fixed? Or do you want a more costly, less fun game? Your choice.

 

Tanki Online is going to be more popular soon, with my simple yet effective advertising campaign. I will take a proportion out of the money from your faithful crystal buying, and invest it into TV advertisements for Tanki Online. As this gets more people interested, it means: more friends; more intense battles; and of course a better game! Now your in game crystals will be spent on bigger and better things.

So I'm on spring break.

 

Hence this.

 

While I’m hardly the ideal character to improvise on a developer’s job, here are my two cents on what could be done.

 

Firstly, we must take note of a pressing issue: how the game has become centralised about one single feature, the PRO battle pass. Many of the game’s features require this to be purchased in order to be accessed, such as private battles, format battles, and no-supplies battles. The fact that the pass lasts for only one month means that, in essence, a monthly stipend of five thousand crystals is required to enjoy usage of the aforementioned components of the game. This proves threatening to Tanki’s status as a free-to-play game; after all, with many dual free-to-play/play-to-play games, the distinguishing trait is that those who pay command access to expanded features.

 

One might counter, ‘the PRO battle pass is cheap; it costs only 5.000 crystals per month. One can easily earn that amount in a month. Besides, one doesn’t actually have to pay to buy the pass’. While a valid point, it is the philosophy behind it that matters. In the end, those who buy the pass are granted various privileges, like access to the highly popular XP/BP format battles, while those who don’t, have access to only the most basic features. And currently, this is what sets Tanki apart from most other games; P2P players are, for the most part, on an equal footing with F2P players. The pivotal role of the PRO battle pass threatens to upset this status quo, by providing a basis for the separation between F2P and P2P.

 

A few solutions come to mind:

  1. Abolish the system completely. Remove the pass, and allow access to all features for everyone.

  2. Decrease the cost of the pass. Further analysis would determine the exact amount of decrease in price.

  3. Reduce the amount of features that the pass opens access to, such as limiting it to only being required for ‘no-supplies battles’.

  4. Allow entry to PRO pass battles for a smaller sum without the need to purchase the pass. The previous cost of 500 crystals was quite steep; perhaps reducing it to 50-150 would be more satisfactory.

Most moderate and agreeable of the listed are (3) and (4).

 

The other issue we address is balance, specifically of equipment. There is many a case where a weak team was crushed by a murderous onslaught of superior equipment, strategy, or teamwork. While this in itself is not a problem, the fact remains that players with relatively inferior equipment cannot compete at a reasonable level with others. This can be easily remedied; simply by introducing equipment limits, analogous to rank limits, we can ensure that teams are balanced in terms of equipment, at the very least.

For example, reasonable limits might be groups of [M2/M3], [M1/M2], and [M0/M1] equipment. This would be a flexible function, able to be toggled [on/off] as well as modified.

 

And yet...

Tanki, 

'tis a game, and nothing more.

Life, 

'tis more important, so live it well, I do implore.

So I heard you want to be a developer?  I have been a senior developer for Tanki for several years now, as one of the original founders from the very beginning.   I have been through it all. I have been through the highs and the lows, the suffering and the glory.  I know you think my life is all fun and games, but I tell you the truth, a developer sacrifices so much.  I sacrificed so much.

You would never understand. 

 

Understand what sacrifices my own father went through, that day when I sat him down, the strained look upon his leathery face as I whispered I was abandoning my degree in law to make a computer game, a computer game where I had no idea if it would sell.

 

Understand what sacrifices my own wife went through, her grim face of determination, as she brushes a stray hair out of her squinting face, head nodding off, trying her best to ignore the peeling wallpaper in our humble home as she stays loyally waiting for me to arrive home, every night, just so I could be greeted with a kiss when I step through the door.

 

Understand what sacrifices my own son went through, his entire life, raised by a father who spends his day making a game to bring joy to children around the world, but doesn't even have time to bring joy to his own son, who’s innocent childhood is now gone, forever.

 

Understand what sacrifices my own daughter went through, her teenage adolescence, yearning for a strong, father figure in her life as she battles the harsh bullying at school.  But all she has for comfort is the long nights, and the dim, flickering lightbulb casting dark, wavering shadows across her unfinished homework. 

 

Understand what sacrifices my own mother went through, her sunken cheeks masking her sunken heart, as she gives up meals just so she could write a tearstained check, afraid of the failure her son is heading towards.

 

Understand what sacrifices I had to go through, staring back into the laughing faces of my assumed “friends”, wiping away the spittle off my face, telling how terrible the idea would be, and me, staring at their retreating backsides, determined to prove them wrong.

 

You spend happy hours playing the game I developed, but you never really know what I surrendered to get you to this point. 

 

You sit there on your computer screen, so caught up in the game, complaining about gameplay, crying about hackers, and screaming for 50% off discounts, while I wait, wistfully wasting away, reflecting on all the opportunities I have lost, sacrifices I have witnessed.

 

You would never understand; understand what it felt when I became a developer, to see my game thrive and grow into a beautiful community.

 

And I would never trade that for anything in the world.

I am a bit worried, as I have not followed any of the writing structures, and I hope I still stayed in the boundaries.  :/

Master Mentors Needed!

           Good day Tankers!

We all know that it is very difficult for new players to learn skills and tactics.  Most of the time players don’t start to really excel at their chosen combination until they are past the Warrant Officer ranks.  Right now, we are working on a system for mentoring these lower ranks.  How will the system work?  Read on to find out.

            We will soon be implementing a system that will allow lower-ranked players to be taught skills by higher-ranked veterans.  From the rank of Recruit to Master Sergeant, there will be an option to pay crystals in exchange for mentoring from a high-ranked player.  In signing up for mentoring, the applicant will be asked for their language, how long their mentoring round will last, and a turret-hull combination to learn on, for instance Railgun-Hornet.  The system will then search for a mentor who is online.  Once found, the mentor and student will be taken to a training map where the student will be able to ask questions about the game, learn skills and tactics from the mentor, and generally become a better player.  These rounds will be almost like the parkour format, as no experience will be given for kills and no battle fund will develop.  These battles cannot be created by players; only the server will create these unique one-on-one battlegrounds, and only for mentoring.  Once the given time expires, the fee will be extracted from the applicant and given to the mentor.  The applicant may leave a +1 or -1 rating, helping to determine which mentors are the most helpful.

            Now all you high-ranking tankers are probably asking, “So, what does this do for me?”   Well, we will soon be enlisting many of you to help mentor these up and coming tankers.  We will open applications inside the game for mentors soon.  The system will accept mentors with the following criteria:

 

1.  They are at or above the rank of Major

 

2.  Clean language.

 

3.  They must have competent skills, tested by a staff member to assure their abilities.

 

            Also, the system will ask for your first language, combinations you are good with, and availability (how often you get on).  All these things will help pair you with applicants requesting mentoring.  You will be considered active if you are logged into your account.  In the case that an applicant has requested a mentor matching your criteria, you will be sent a notification asking if you are available and telling how long the mentoring round will last.  If not answered within thirty seconds, the notification will be deleted.  Keep in mind that in addition to the small fee from the applicant, mentors will be given extra crystals if they are given a good rating.  Also, if the mentor attains a certain amount of +1s, they will be given a multiplier to increase their wages.

            Hopefully, this system will help lower ranks learn skills to help keep them playing!
