The First Few Posts on the Developer's News Topics...

Recommended Posts

The first few posts in the topics of the Developer's News seem to receive a massive amount of negative votes. The people who first read the topic hang around for the first few posts to down vote if they dislike it. A lot of these posts get as many dislikes, maybe even -50 or more. The ones that come way later don't get that many. Is there a reason? Post your opinion on why these posts get so many negative votes.

You stated the reason yourself. Most people only read the first few posts and leave the topic, so if someone posts a message on the first page, then it will be read a LOT more than an identical post on some 14th or 53rd page, therefore it will get a lot more ratings.

That is because that the posts is futher down, so the person may not bother to read that far, and also, the devs get negative as they may implement a feature we dont like. and that person who posts may be saying that he dosent like it or he wants the old game back. So people will; agree and he will get voted up and have no negative.

When someone downvotes a fresh post with no reputation given, other people just see the small red annoying -1 and downvote the post without reading it which ends up getting too many downvotes.

That is what I like to call 'monkey see, monkey do'.

Another reason why the first few posts often receive so many down-votes is because of the comment itself. For example (chosen at random), as we see here, this post only reads "1ST". Myself, as well as others (I think), would consider this a waste of forum space, seeing that this comment provided nothing of interest to the reader aside from its competitiveness 'HEY LOOK, I was the first (not really) to comment on this topic!'.

There is always a reason behind every action.

I mean, look at this:

I just said that the V-LOG was interesting  <_<

Just saying "Interesting." it doesn't really contribute to the discussion. That's probably why it was downvoted.
