no topic locking without the consent of the author

Recommended Posts

its really strange that tanki staff lock topic without the satistaction of the author.........atleast if they want to lock the there must be a way for author of the topic to try to convince the tanki staff regarding his topic in private message.......or  in some other way ........

many times topic gets locked without permission of author.......wth

There could be many reasons as to why a topic is locked: It could be a repeat of another topic like it, it could be a topic discussing matters that aren't allowed to be discussed; there are many reasons as I said. I personally wouldn't believe that it requires the Consent of the Author before it gets closed, especially on those two reasons I mentioned before.

Usually the case is that a topic violates a certain forum rule and has to be closed or hidden. Often, the players create a topic and then never come back to re-visit it and never even appear on the forum, so it becomes impossible to contact them. We have to work fast to be able to quickly and efficiently remove content, which other users don't need to see. Closing a topic would take too long if we had to ask the author's permission first.

However, I must point out that if a player thinks that the closure of their topic was unjustified, they are welcome to sent a PM to the moderator and if the player gives a valid reason for the topic to be re-opened, them we will most definitely re-open it. This system works fine at the moment and the change you are suggesting will only slow down the moderators' work without much benefit for the players.

mods dont need the authorization of the player to close down a topic cuz it maybe regarding a topic that is already been discussed in the same or different section, topic which violates game rules or something irrelevant

but a mod or an admin should notify a player through PM if that topic is going to be moved to another section

if the topic has already been discussed and solved the topic should be closed. and the mods should always post a link when they lock a topic to a similar topic they have made

^We always do. Also topics are closed if they abuse the game rules, no explanation needed and if they do not meet the section rules requirements - in these requirements, it says moderators are allowed to close topics which do not meet the criteria. Sometimes a moderator will ask you to PM him/her after closing it to edit their topic to make it worthy of staying open.

ok just make it sure when topic is closed at the same time ....u must pm author about it........even if it is formality in some cases.........

Mods lock hundreds of topics a day. Trying to get author's consent everyone will be chaotic. Anyways Mods don't delete topic or lock them if they don't break any rules. However if you still want that topic to be opened you can contact a mod.

(Has happened to me:and my topic was reopened)

Technically, "your" topic(s) are located on Tanki's server, and therefore they legally own it. Just pointing out how a judge might see this......

(Even though you are the author, it's kinda like a book author giving over copyrights to a publishing company.)

Also, the Moderators have been placed in a position of authority by Tanki Online, and because of this, they also have jurisdiction over "your" topic, as points out:

I got an idea about this suggestion!

- make a mult

- make a topic with a single 'hi'

- watch how moderators polity asking you to give them permission to lock your flood topic

- ?????????

- PROFIT!

To make it even more cruel I would make the author of this suggestion the only moderator on the forum.

Moderators serve the community, and I know that if you point out a LEGITIMATE reason for them to re-open the topic, they will.

But, they have jurisdiction to close topics, and so, if you don't want them to close your topic, make sure that it doesn't violate the Rules in any way.

Maybe if people put some actual thoughts before making a topic, then this could be possible.

Unfortunately too many mults. So nobody cares about getting banned, etc. etc.

Hide behind a mult, don't need to think before posting a topic. Kind of like what you're doing.

Yeah.....I realized that I could log on with my Alt and get banned and no one would realize it's me.....terrifying thought.

(No, I would never do that. :P)
