Ooh. Not his fan though. But I think he acted in one of the Star trek series: Into Darkness or something like that. He acted as "Khan", an ex-general (Something like that of Starfleet, the police force in that series) who along with his team had been exiled into a Cryogenic chamber for many years.

I am surprised many of you don't know him.

He is quite a famous celebrity. He recently ( OK, not so recently) played the part of Sherlock Holmes, the famous detective sleuth, in BBC's TV series Sherlock.

For one the new movies are a scourge upon old Star Trek fans; more importantly Khan was one of many people who were genetically altered as a soldier in WW 3, a war to stop genetic experimenting. He was the leader of the forces who were pro-genetics but was definitely not Starfleet. (unless of course, the new movies messed it up even more) The anti-genetic people were winning and Khan was able to become cryogenically frozen along with a few other of his soldiers and escaped on one of their nuclear ships. The ship was later found by the Enterprise in T.O.S. and were rescued. They tried to take the ship and eventually lost, at which point Khan was marooned on Ceti Alpha 5 to later escape in Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Khan and put some gross wormy thing in Chekov's ear.
