Greetings, readers. Chronicles of a Newbie has returned with a new name! All credit for the name goes to Fen-Harel, of course. In essence, this involves starting a brand new journey with a new account, and this article aims to share the experience with you; Lhamster and Raphael2 are the two people who began this series, initially. They worked together on it, enabling you readers to see two experiences in one! If you would like to read these articles whilst the series was running, go here, here and here. Lhamster's alt, needless to say, had the coolest name of us all, but I've decided to go with D.E.F.I.A.N.T, partly since it's one of my favorite words, and if you know me, it probably shows. I'll finally add that this part of the series was done all over one day, given that I decided I was going to do this article rather late. However, I've played enough for an article to be formulated. Now that I've gotten the introduction out of the way, let's begin!

I made the account and ended up with a Sandbox Deathmatch on EN 1 that only had four people, starting with Smoky-Hunter, which is currently my favorite combination to use in the average battle on my main account. Though, to be honest with you, I found M0 Smoky-Hunter quite underwhelming; that is, at least compared to other M0s available at the time. I feel like that's just me, however, bearing in mind the modification that I'm used to. Of course, I eventually ranked up via nabbing the seven or so kills required to do so.

Other than gaining access to more maps, it didn't mean much to me, given I still did not have access to much as a Private. I wasn't really looking to purchase Railgun or Dictator. Not long after ranking, I got bored of using Smoky M0, so I went to the garage during battle, and bought Twins - although I wasn't initially planning on buying Twins M0 at that point, in order to keep me playing, I needed to.

Upon purchasing Twins M0, I felt like I was actually capable of dealing damage, and that was needed, given that more and more people had joined the Deathmatch. I had forgotten that you receive 200 crystals for making your first purchase, and, at this rank, it was more than plenty. There wasn't much time left, and I wanted to get ahead of first place, who just so happened to join before me. Twins did the job nicely, and so I was able to get a solid lead at the end of the battle. I don't think the battle would've had the same outcome if I had used Smoky for that whole match. Some of my opponents decided to leave just as the battle was about to end, which is less of a bonus in such ranks due to the minuscule difference it makes in regard to your share of the battle fund, but I guess it's still nice.

Of course, for 32 kills, a 69 crystal reward is somewhat appalling. On the day I played this battle, it was double funds as well, which meant it could've been a lot worse. I also realized Gefreiter wasn't too far away, although you could argue it's not too far away from Private at the start. That was the primary aim, at the minute, since there's nothing for me at Private. In light of this, I entered a Cross Death Match to obtain the few kills I reached to reach Gefreiter, and that I did.

At Gefreiter, in my eyes, a lot better items become available to you, and this was something I had to think about. Thunder, Hornet and Mammoth (although this was never really considered) were all at my disposal. Bearing in mind I ranked in a rather active battle, I decided not to think about what I was going to do until I finished the battle. The aim was to place second, given first place was way out in front, and there really was not enough time to catch up to him. In fact I was able to do it, and I received a whopping 40 crystals. Every time I received a reward, I just remember it could have been much worse.

Now here I was, in the garage, peering at each item contemplating whether I should buy it or not. I eventually concluded that I wanted to try something new, and the only way to do that was to purchase the new turrets bearing in mind I've used everything else, and the modification I have on my primary account is MN/A. Hammer's currently out of the question due to rank, but Vulcan was only a rank away. I figured that if I could rank, I could take advantage of the sale (which I only realized was on after seeing Hornet's price) and have some spare crystals in my pocket. I decided to buy Hornet, since I've been told Hammer and Vulcan both function pretty well with this hull. I wasn't planning on using it until I obtained Vulcan, so I didn't equip it upon purchasing it. Twins/Hunter were still my primary combo.

I made the purchase, equipped the Holiday paint in a rather limited attempt to make my tank more vibrant, and I jumped into another battle for the purpose of ranking. Let me just say that a lot of the battles I tried to enter were close to ending. As a result, I could not obtain as many Experience points in one battle as I would have liked to. However, with each battle, I was inching closer and closer to Corporal.

It was unfortunate that there wasn't enough time to nab the last two kills I needed in order to rank, especially given the enemies were in sight, but with around two other people, I got there.

Talk about ranking in style. The gift was noticeable, as it assisted me in making back what I spent. I only stayed in that battle for the purpose of obtaining the next rank, so I left after that.

I immediately purchased Vulcan, sticking to my plan. This turret would introduce me to a somewhat new spectrum of gameplay, and it would answer a question I had regarding this turret, that being: Is Vulcan truly overpowered in the normal server like a few people say it is? Prior to this day, I only took into account valid points without actually experiencing it for myself. I doubt that I'm going to perform to a high standard, but hopefully, there's potential.

I also decided to buy Swamp, probably not one of my best purchases, but the damage on Twins M0 was more noticeable for me, when firing it at others. This also includes when it's fired at me too. For 375 crystals, I guess it was a more lucrative purchase than it could've been.

This was the combo I was to use in battle, and hopefully the changes made were for the better. I jumped into a Factory CTF and it didn't go well not in that I personally played badly, although that's not to say I played great on my first time. It was more that the quality of our team left a lot to be desired. Obviously, these are low ranks I'm dealing with, so I can't expect them to know every tactic in the book. However, in comparison to the other team, we were just horrible

I went on the offensive and I would've been mostly successful if the battle didn't turn into a stalemate situation every single time I got the flag to our base. On a couple of occasions, I was able to make it just in time, hence why the scoreline wasn't an absolute shipwreck, but when I got back to our base, my team's flag was on its way, in most cases. Meh. You can't win 'em all!

It was a relative struggle to get the bullets on target. I went into other battles in order to try and improve my accuracy. Not only this, in case I don't do well with Vulcan, I'd like a fail-safe; something I could rely on if I weren't to play up to scratch with Vulcan in the future. I decided to acquire Thunder since it's a weapon I can perform at least decently with. Bearing in mind that Thunders are rampant at this sort of rank, in the future I'm considering Metallic unless it's not such a hindrance.

To be honest, there was nothing too interesting about these battles, other than I won them all, I was able to earn the crystals necessary for Thunder in time, and my accuracy with Vulcan went up ever so slightly.

This is the combo I finished with, although I intend for this to be a secondary combination. I'd say that D.E.F.I.A.N.T is getting off to a decent start; by the next article, I hope to be able to say a few positive changes have been made.

Where would you take D.E.F.I.A.N.T next? Feel free to comment below.

I actually did this myself a while back. I noticed that there were so many things that I could have bought but decided to get something else and not waste money on trying to buy everything. But I wanted to try them out. So I made an alt, genak138_2, I know, not that creative. Anyways, I realized what a great hull hornet was considering this one is mainly viking. Not to mention getting fire M1, freeze, vulcan, and rico.

Man, ranking is so easy when making an alt :P

D.E.F.I.A.N.T was one of the names I was considering when I changed my nickname.

I think that he should get the beautiful combination of mammoth/isida/safari, and then solely play lost temples and stadiums. It would be highly effective.

Surprisingly entertaining. Try out Vulcan Wasp!

Yeah! I got a gold box in cross dm with this combo. It was surprising considering the fact that I only needed one shot with smoky m0 to get killed. My rank was only a major corporal too! Hehe. I was also on the opposite side of the map from where the gold was, and it was already in mid-air! Hehe. It's fun making people mad in the chat!

Go for the Hornet/Railgun combo, buy a PRO battle pass and play XP battles

XP battles cannot accommodate m0s and m1s. Besides, it would be a potential disaster to buy pro passes due to the fact concerning the popularity of pro battles at the rank. Also, 500 is a lucrative sum to loose for people at the time.
