Annoying habit of moderators to close topics “just because"

I can understand if a moderator chooses to close a topic that contains offensive language or a prohibited subject matter. That just good business sense.

 

However, moderators close topics simply because they wish to end member discussion. Oftentimes they’ll provide a quick response and immediately close the thread which is exactly what happened in a thread I created recently about kits.

 

I cannot help but wonder about the moderator selection process, their qualifications to moderate a forum for a service provider, and the chain of command overseeing their actions.

 

No doubt this topic too will be closed shortly.  Not because it contains offensive language, or because it has no value, but because some Tanki moderator simply decides to close it - end of discussion.

 

I am now in the process of writing to both the company CEO Alexandr Vladimirovich Karpovich and CTO Anton Alekseevich Volkov regarding how this forum is managed. Shameful really. If a company is going to offer a forum to its members, then it must be prepared to accept discussion of all types, positive, negative and neutral.

 

Moderators should never be allowed to close topics unless the topics explicitly violate the terms and conditions of the forum. It’ll be interesting to see if Mr. Karpovich and Mr. Volkov respond to my email.

Now, your "Kit" idea was more of a complaint, and the Moderator gave you a very good reason--the kits were removed because they made gameplay unbalanced for non-buyers.

Also, ideas regarding the removal of updates are not accepted, so any topic that breaks the rules are closed to clear up the section.

 

Now, as for your "complaint", Moderators do just what the title suggests, they "Moderate". If you have a problem with the forum management, then you should try talking to an Administrator, like @Yele.

Also, Moderators don't close topics just because they want to end the discussion, they always have a reason, and the topic, in one way or another, either breaks the forum rules, or the idea has been rejected by the Developers.

 

And did you threaten them by saying you'll write to the CEO? Or is that just a statement? :huh:

The reason behind the closing your topic regarding kits was answered perfectly by Mafioza. The developers decided to remove the overpowered kits on the opinion of the MAJORITY of the players. They disturbed gameplay and were very overpowered. The discussion regarding this topic had already happened in the official topic by the developers. Topics are never closed without a proper reason. If you feel that it was closed unfairly, you should contact yele, the forum administrator.

Topics aren't closed because they contain insults. If someone has insulted in a topic, he simply gets banned and his post gets edited/removed.

Then why we have tons of topics that have hundreds of pages but are not closed? It seems like you're angry about the fact your topic was closed and you're blaming the whole moderation team because of that, which is kind of unserious. Your topic was about that kits are getting worse. At the end of your post, you asked "Anyone else feeling like the kit quality has gone downhill since the middle of last year?" - if you get 10 people say "Yes, I feel the same", what will this change? There's just no point in this. Now about why kits are getting worse - this has been perfectly answered by the moderator who locked the topic. But if you feel this was wrong, you can always report this properly. But I'm afraid that creating a topic about blaming moderators doing their jobs improperly is not only pointless (as it won't change anything, complaints posted improperly are invalid), but is also forbidden by the game rules (which you read and agreed to follow when registering in the game).

The moderation selection process is nothing you should worry about, we have standards set by the developers which each admin follows when accepting or denying applications. A really small percentage of those who apply actually become moderators and those who do, spend much time in being taught how to do their jobs well.
