I do not understand the reason for limiting upvotes.

If you are an active forum member and you read posts that inspire you.You should  be able to show that you have read and appreciated their effort and back there point of view, or effort placed into being a valued forum participant.

I can understand limiting Down votes, as it can be used inappropriately, so making players think twice about using them is a good idea.

Also the ability to change your vote would be nice, although if it is being used for statistics, it could make that more difficult, the option to remove a vote would be the next best thing.

I cannot see upvoting as a form of spam, unless it would be possible for a bot to continuously go through topics and upvote indiscriminately causing a slowdown of the website.

I think the limit actually creates more spam, as if you have used all of your upvotes and you wish to show your support of a post or topic, you then have to then create a quote to the post just to show that support even if you have nothing further to add to the conversation other than to say good job.

I see it all the time in topics,

"Ran out of upvotes but just letting you know I would if I could"

or the infamous: +1

OK, well that is a  that valid point if there is no way of guarding against that type of attack in this forum.

Though I do feel that a forum with 1500+ or so active users that being labelled a spammer if you wish to use the upvote feature more than 5 or six times a day is unfortunate.

Promoting forum members though the form of recognition is good for the happiness of the community, everyone feels better when they get feedback from fellow members, and makes them more interested in contributing to the forum.

I don't see unlimited as a need, but increasing the quota of upvotes would please everyone in the community.

Right now it affects every active forum user and creates unneeded flooding of topics.

It also hinders the members from receiving recognition from fellow members who are guarding their votes for that one viral post everyone now waits to be a part of.

Any alternate account would be used to "Like" every single one of your posts, and players can have 5-6 alts doing that.

I really like the idea, but it's not really possible. :(

 

However, I totally agree that you should be able to undo your vote if you accidentally down-voted or up-voted.

I don't think that has any ramifications of having more up votes. 

 

Some players already up vote  their own main account posts, what does it accomplish, it's basically like talking to yourself  :P , if it makes them feel better, who does it hurt, it would be even funnier if they went around and down voted all their own posts :blink: poor souls.

 

Almost as funny as the post above, quoted another players post, and changed its content. Guess he never heard about copyright law, as it hasn't been discussed in his kindergarten class yet.
