Reduce power of garage supplies

I managed to find a PRO battle yesterday with all supplies turned off. Sandbox CTF but not XP. Most fun I've had in months. I could actually compete and even came in first a few times. All battles where close to the end and nobody was extremely over powered.  

 

 

What ever happened to this?  Weren't we going to use EN3 for this as well?

Yeah, pro battling is really great :)

 

You are right, the original flyer I've made used EN3, but a little afterwards I learned 2 things:

- on EN3 are too less high-ranked battles (I had to rank up a little more to realize this)

- the russian community used RU2 for non-supply battles for quite a while already (RU1 = XP/BP, RU2 = non supplies, RU23 = hard drug battles).

 

I checked RU2 and there have been really more non-supply battles then anywhere else. It is more fun, if more battles are available.. and if you create one yourself, it will fill up easier. So I decided to change the flyer :P

Anyone in the actual game is forced to drug if he want to have a chance to win a battle, and a battle is definitely won by the more drugged team. Is really this the devs idea for the game? Is the all game a matter of pressing the right drug button? I hope not!

 

Is this so? more than half the games I play (mostly CTF) do not involve drugs. Only a few battles really have major drugging going on, and you can just leave the battle if you dont want that... The idea that you have to drug (atleast at lower ranks) to win is not really true

I don't know where you're playing my friend, but when I play I usually only play ctf and the battles are "always" drug rampant, also... should we always just leave?

If your score is well below your average, you should leave, because you would be wasting your time.

 

If your team is beaten badly, you should leave, or you would be donating crystals to druggers. That is bad. Don't support druggers. Let druggers fight druggers or clueless people.

And if you add the heal button the thing gets even worse.
 
Anyway this makes the game a mere matter of drugs, which I hope it is not DEVS idea of the game! Right now if someone comes drugged to me, I know that I am dead if I don't drug too. No matter what rank or weapon! Very sad!
 
Right now I feel hopeless when I enter a battle ... it is not a good feeling and it will probably make me abandon this great game, if something doesn't change! And this idea is spreading on many and many Tanki players!
 
 
From one weapon or hull upgrade to another (M1 to M2 for example) the rise in characteristics is abt. 20-25%.
Using a drug actually hypotetically rise you of 4-5 level. A M2 weapon become M6 or M7 !!!!!
 
This is a terrible unbalancing of the game.
 
This makes it impossible any fair face to face between a drugger and one who is not.
 
This makes the game a matter of "drug = I win" or "no drug = I loose"
 
On the TO Newsletter and on the forum I have been reading thousands of words on strategy, "the best hull-turret combination", "how a specific weapon works", "how to organize a flag capture", and so on .... but the reality of the game now is: I DRUG = I WIN and I DON'T DRUG = I LOOSE. That is it! Sad, isn't it?
 
This makes the strategy "only with drugs I win"; this means anyone that wants to win has to drugs; this makes everyone drug; this makes the game both odd for drug-non drug comparison and even for drug-drug fight.
 
The purpose is (or should be) to rely more on skills and ability, strategy and better weapon use, rather than press a button or a desperate search of a power-up as the only "strategy" of playing.
The point is allowing a non-payer or a low-payer to enjoy the game too. This is apparently an anti-economic concept for Tanki, but it is the exact contrary instead. More players means more paying players in percentage and many players give a necessary base (critical mass) for the game to be interesting for everyone. It is a matter of numbers!
 
 
This is why I want to propose a suggestion for developers: a decrease of extra power and resistance to a max of 25-30% of extra (as it is for speed), rather than double those features, or make the drug effect to temporarily give the next level characteristics (like a drugged M1 to be like a M2 for a limited time).
This would also make people feel and try how is the weapon or hull on the next level on that feature.
 
Did you all ever noticed that increase of speed is of 30%? Why it is not doubled speed? Also the devs realised that double speed would be too much ... same as for other drugs!!! Power and resistance are pumped up too much!
Same thing for steps (M0 to M1, M1 to M2, M2 to M3). Did you all noticed that every step gives about 20-25% of increase in performances? Why? I mean a hunter M1 costs 29.900 crystals, a wasp M2 costs 102.700 crystals, a dictator M3 costs 223.000 crystals. Why we get ONLY a 20-25% increase for all those crystals? Probably to allow a range of ranks to play together. And why did they need to do that? Probably to have a balanced game.
 
The process of bringing drugs to a +25% increase may be done gradually: a decrease of extra power and resistance to a max of 25-30% of extra, rather than double those features. This can be done gradually to let anyone get used to it, by reducing a 15-20% a week till the target. In this way it will probably not even noticed and it will be accepted by drug addicted.
 
A non drug section would be also welcome (not a PAY one). If I have to pay to find non druggers, I will not have the crystal to buy tanks, turrets or upgrades!
 
I suggest a serious brain storming on this topic.

I joined the game 2-3 years ago, and my first account was a failure. This is my second one, and I have memories of the old tanki,234 supplies, crystal boxes, the lot. However, I noticed the decline start from the removal of crystal boxes. Hammer and Vulcan were the fall, SCD, hoeever helped a bit, but thesupply giveaways were the drop. The unlimited supply passes showed what was inside some tankers when addicted to supplies. The game was a HUGE imbalance by supply giveaways.

Druggers got an offensive attitude, and players started reacting and argued back.

The game became a gradual war. I am seeing players saying things like, "yeah? Well I did your*** last night" ( it shall be offensive to type the exact same quote). Users like me come here to have fun, chill out, not to vent our frustrations and anger in a game going for a crash. I shall probably leave tanki if Unity version does not do something about drugs, mults, saboteurs, hackers,buyers and offensive chat posters. Hope the game will pull itself up.

If you're looking to relieve stress, try Tetris.

This game tends to fuel my anger further.

Dude, you got it wrong. We are not angry persons, we are adult players - mostly - that have given alot of thought to this issue and devoted a lot of time trying to see things from all perspectives, including Alternativa's one.

We have recorded all factors of unbalance and some of the real causes, and have proposed solutions that will not lessen too much Tanki's income, proposing at the same time alternative sources of income.

XT gizmo is one of the proposals, at least the spirit of it, but the awaiting launch of Unity Tanki seems to have made Devs, submit to the temptation of a fast catch... thus, no real solution is applied to Flash version of Tanki.

Well, let's hope that Unity will be something different in regard to the said issues.

So, don't think the way you think, or maybe you haven't read the topic... just don't be so sure you 've got it right...

How can you not know how to drug?

That's like saying someone doesn't know how to breathe.

Drugging, my dear friend, is not a gameplay feature, it's a cash cow.

Drugging back does nothing, as it just provokes their primitive minds by making them confused and scared.

And besides, mom always said "Two wrongs don't make a right.".

There's a drugger named erol111 who has been a major annoyance for some months now because he happens to play Rio at about the same time I do. When he is on the opposite team he drugs the bejeezus out of the round until the score is 10-1 in his favor. If he joins your team he ends up sucking the life out of the round which leads to (1) the other team leaving and (2) his drugging inflates his score which causes everyone on the same team to have no crumbs left to fight for.

 

Lately I've been creating Rio rounds that deny him entry due to his rank, but, that won't work any more after tonight (because I only need about 300 XP to reach Commander).

 

I finally found a strategy that works against him: Twins.

 

He is one of these players who can't turn his turret, so, even if he's drugged up I get behind him or beside him, push him into a wall, then use Twins to lift up his hull, and I park myself under him firing until he goes through every drug he has - because I am behind, beside, and under him he can't hurt me, and, eventually I kill him without having to use a single supply myself. :D

 

This is a new strategy I use with all non-turret-turning druggers and it works out very well. :P

I don't completely get up under him so dropping a mine won't be effective.

 

Also rarely does anyone get me with that trick :)

 

The other day he made the mistake of switching to a Titan with Vulcan (both M3 I think) so I switched to using Graffiti and ate his lunch by moving back and forth next to him faster than the Vulcan could lock onto me.

 

He's a major buyer and has every turret/hull and paint available at his rank (which right now is Commander).

 

When a bunch of druggers show up that know how to use their tanks properly it usually causes him to leave quickly.

 

He just enters battles mostly where people don't drug and don't have strong concepts of strategy. Getting Twins M3 was the best thing I ever did to turn the tables on him because the impact force is enough to lift him up even when he uses Viking (which is his most common choice).

 

Next time I encounter him I'll take a screenshot.

Absolutely. He blows through more repair kits in a round than anyone I have seen in my entire history of playing TO.

In a 15 minute round (if it lasts that long now due to score caps) he will blow through drugs as if they are free, and, I have never seen anyone change equipment as often as he does. His three main turrets of choice are Smoky, Thunder, and Hammer since you don't have to necessarily aim them. But because of his inability to turn a turret anyone with some skills and fast hull can take advantage of this weakness. Avoid the barrel and you can take him out.

 

When I rank and the next sale/discount comes around Firebird M3 is mine - it is the turret most effective against him (I already have M2 and for now Twins is more effective), but, I end up having to use a DD in the process.

I think that buyer did not focus in paints that much. If he's a major buyer, then he would have Africa and Rock to counter. Smoky actually takes some skill to use, through.

 

(Vulcan-Titan drugging is one of the most OP combos, first time I have seen it getting beaten easily.)

Oh, he does have Rock - he was using it last night when I owned him (for awhile he was using Smoky/Viking with Rock). He isn't at the rank to get Africa yet.

 

Hammer, Smoky, and Thunder are devastating at close range when the user is drugging - but- if the user can't use their turret the drugs/power are useless when you drive circles around them. As well pushing them against a wall or other object keeps them from turning their tank, so, their lack of skills becomes a major liability.

 

The difference between a drugger and a normal player is that a normal player doesn't really care if they get killed. I often sacrifice myself if I can cause major damage to another tank (in the hopes that another teammate will be nearby to finish the enemy off). A drugger tries to win at all costs - many times they have a weakness and it's simply a case of playing with that person enough to learn those weaknesses and exploit them. Hence, even if erol111 has the best paint and tank available at his rank (coupled with drugs) it can't make up for someone who is smarter and has a strategy.

 

For example if I'm using Firebird I'll attack the people defending the flag and try to inflict major damage on as many as possible. I always attack Isidas first - the beauty of Firebird is that it can pass through multiple tanks. Most of the time I end up getting killed and likely won't get credited with a kill, but, the damage to many tanks until I am out of fuel is worth it.

 

I like to think of Twins as just a Vulcan without the worry of overheating. :D

 

Yes, Vulcan on a heavy hull is very OP - especially when there's a drugging Isida feeding it. In such a case it's a waste of time to attack that Vulcan without taking out the Isida first. In those instances I use Graffiti with a medium hull and Firebird. The goal being to deal damage to the Vulcan while frying the Isida at the same time since it can't heal the Vulcan and heal itself at the same time. Another weakness to exploit in some druggers.

Another trick to get people to spend money. The same for test drives and personnel discounts. Here try this, you will love it, but it you want to keep it.......  LOL  Talk about child exploitation. These guys would try to sell fridges to Eskimos.

I think the point of the personal discounts besides giving superficial people something to rave about is to lure you from saving for bigger sales. You say, should I get this now at 20% off or wait for 2 months and maybe get it at 40% or maybe not? So do not expect to get these personal discounts often unless we are talking about 5%.

 

As I said elsewhere, you'll be hit by a lightening bolt twice before you get a 40%+ discount.

 

It happens to some people though, like this Gizmo right after ranking up.
