Reduce power of garage supplies

Yes - I should have said this idea has been promoted before - just I liked it's simplicity as a message as a way to 'even up' the playing field.

 

I would like it to be a collective idea to focus our effort on.

 

Maximum of 10 garage drugs per 15 minutes per tank.

 

 

 

I think Tanki know it would be popular with 'most' tankers - just they always fear upsetting the buyers..

 

There are not enough buyers (estimated to be 10% of users) to be given their own space separated from the free to play users (easy to do via a switch or create battle option) if Tanki had a will to do it).

This is why I suggest Tanki make this kind of change an option on battle create  - then if the majority choose it, the buyers (who need the 'cannon fodder' have no right to object.

 

 

 

(I also know it would be easier to simply extend (doubling) the smart cooldown (SCD) timing to achieve the same effect - it's also a simple parameter change (needs no programming) -  but Tanki Management probably see this as annoying the buyers - again it could be made optional to overcome this objection.)

If Tanki can see the imbalance on the battlefield is upsetting say 80% of the tankers (and even some of the buyers) and this is causing large numbers not to invest money in Tanki - then they might realize pleasing the majority is the best way to go.

Tanki should know that it's the injustice we see on the battlefield that drives us to complain.

 

Tanki could so easily do something about it - and that's the frustration of dealing with a dictatorship who feels they cannot always help the majority view point. 

 

and I accept it's their business - they can do what they like - and it's a good sign that we have not been silenced - only it feels like we have been ignored when large numbers of sensible people have strong views about something.

The separate server are nice, but it has one problem: it would require actual effort from the developers to program.

Maybe after Unity is finished they'll so much as drunkenly laugh at the thought, but for now, we're stuck with all of this crap.

 

If I were to criticize the idea the only thing I could come up with is:

The buyers would quickly become bored with playing against each other and stop buying, reducing income.

 

But I'm not, I support this idea.

Since this is related to the whole messed-up imbalanced situation, I guess my observation can fit here.

 

If someone has the cost of one month of premium account and wants to buy crystals with it, they are better off buying the premium account because they would get more bonus crystals that way than they would get for their money.

 

Crystal buying becomes for hardcore rich people that should already have a premium account.

I've already posted this on the Ideas and Suggestions page but i think it should be here too:

We all hate it when that guy takes the repair kit right in front of your eyes when he has full health. My idea, is to change when you can pick up supply boxes. 

 

As following:

1) Tanks with full health and tanks with double armour activated cannot use repair kit. In the case of the latter, it can only be activated AFTER the tank has lower than 50% armour left.

 

2) Only 2 drugs (excluding mines) can be activated at the same time, The same goes for pick-ups. You cannot pick up a third box if you already have 2. 

 

3) If you already have a supply or drug activated or pick-up, you can't pick up another one of the same type.

How would you stop an enemy picking up a health box while you had full health?  Maybe you would have to keep a damaged tank near by?

Also a Rico and Thunder can self damage and then collect the health box.

Silly to have a Mission to collect health boxes!  Makes more full health tanks pick them up.

 

You would also stop the game of 'capture the health pack' as mostly played by Gismos - have you seen the video?

 

and how come Dusseldorf has no health pack drop zones!

I know it's off topic - but I fixed my 'Lag' problems I was having in Tanki

 

My old Internet connection ADSL2+ had 2.5Mbps down and 0.33 Mbps up - I had lots of complaints from other tankers that I was 'jump hacking' caused by my long ping times > 300ms at times! (However, this 'jumping' occasionally helped me avoid being shot!  The 'jumping' is not seen on my own screen - only by the other players.)

 

So after 12 years of giving BT in the UK a hard time (including recruiting the aid of a government minister) our whole street finally got BT Infinity (90% fibre = FTTC (Fibre To The Cabinet)).  We did not want Virgin Media because I hear they have rubbish ping rates - and they wanted GBP18,000 to do our street!

 

Now nearly all my 'Lag' problems in Tanki have gone away with 30Mbps down and 7 Mbps up!

I now see 7 to 12ms ping rates most of the time, this gives me an edge on positioning my Wasp M3 and not tripping over other tanks so much.  I have also gained an opportunity to predict and avoid enemy railgun shots etc.

The only lag I see now is when the server gets overloaded which causes all tanks to lag.

 

I hope all TO users can get a chance to use very fast internet access with low ping rates (maybe try your local cybercafé etc?)  This way hopefully you can see the difference, and hence, avoid blaming TO for your slow internet connection.  We shall have to wait and see what performance Unity requires.

 

Big news - I have now fixed my keyboard cursor key 'lockup' problems by slowing my keyboard repeat rate.

I used to get stuck going in one direction or another - the only fix was to press each cursor in turn to unlock it.  I'll have to see if my shaft account now works without the scope locking upwards ever since mouse controls came in.

Now tested - shaft still not fixed!

A fat pipe won't solve lag - when I was overseas I had theoretical speeds almost 5x what I can get in the USA - yet, my ping was substantially higher.

 

It's not necessarily how fat your pipe is but how good your ISP delivers consistent bandwidth in the first place.

Personally, I think the game would be alot harder, and skill orientated if it was based without drugs, MU's would be alot more valuable/worthwhile and team efforts and tactics would be focused on alot more than simply every man for himself that is the case now.

Certainly the Star Series competitions and all it's rules prove that only allowing air drops is helpful to the game.  Only I do like to use say 3 mines per 15 minutes and a health pack at gold box time (someone will shoot at you while your looking for the drop zone!) - so 3 health packs per 15 minutes makes sense.

 

If you ever played Pro Mode battles with no drugs and no air drops it gets a bit tedious going the same route to the flag all the time.

The air drops cause a change of tactic, like a random selection from a box of chocolates you never know what you're going to get!

 

I would like to be able take part in random Star Series games (and maybe have random clans put together in equipment level groups (maybe non-MU) M1, M2, M3) this would provide a more level playing field.

 

However, TO Management seem to believe that the infantile desire (in most of us) to have the most powerful tank and the desire to reak revenge on all our foes is the motivation that gets them paid - so drug culture is keenly encouraged.  TO say that Unity will not have the same financial model - we wait to see what it will be.

Who knows maybe TO have it right and we should consider ourselves lucky to be operating in a sea of sharks (dog eat dog sort of world) beware the tyrannosaurus! AKA Hammerkings, Thunderkings and Izzykings on full drugs.  (and quit that game if it all gets too much.)

 

 

To answer the question about what happens when both sides have unlimited drugs - the HardStyle competitions exhibited very poor viewing, with one side quickly dominating the other (when one side is down it's very hard to get back up).  The exception was the final, where both sides managed some end to end football!

Most Pro battles - as we often say - are XP/BP or full supplies battles.

This is so wrong. You can easily find pro battles with no supplies. Of course, if you stick on RU1...

 

Easy to find Polygon CP no supplies, Arena, Noise, Station...

Comparing buying crystals versus buying Premium? Buying wins hands down - you get almost twice as much by buying than by using Premium.

 

Premium is a total rip-off when you do the numbers.

Correct, earning crystals and xp twice as fast is non-differential for lower ranks, because you would still be earning less to the equipment your buying at your rank if you rank up too quickly, it makes no difference

 

Without drugs you simply can't win a battle, the new turrets are also to blame, they forced tankers to buy turrets that do damage more quickly (firebird, isida etc) Its rare to find a battle that's not one sided, only a person with no brain would say the game balance is doing ok, it really isn't, its gone downhill 100%

This is so wrong. You can easily find pro battles with no supplies. Of course, if you stick on RU1...

 

Easy to find Polygon CP no supplies, Arena, Noise, Station...

All these are small to medium maps, played best with medium - heavy hulls and middle range turrets like twins or firebird or richo... how am I supposed to compete with my hornet / railgun?

I already have a hard time with missions DM or CP on Polygon (which is almost daily)...

(but I never get a mission about chernobyl, kolhoz, desert, or kungur... funny, huh?)

Sorry to say this but we are fighting a loosing battle. Tanki will never change the supplies. They make too much money from them.

 

I'm truly starting to believe that Tanki pays certain groups of players in supplies, to go around mindlessly drugging in every battle just to force players to drug back. I suspect Tanki also provides these same groups with special slightly over powered gear as payment. Not enough to be obvious but just enough to always come out ahead. Again this forces supply use.   

 

Myself and a few others are going to try and prove that there several groups that seem to be over powered. If you start to pay attention you will see players lasting far longer then they should. Don't tell me it's M4's, I along with many of my friends have M4's and we can't do what they do. I was in a battle yesterday and there was a guy using "corrsion" paint on a hornet. He was able to withstand 4 shots from my nearly M4 hammer while being hit by others, but like usaul he also lagged a lot so it's harder to prove. He had one of those convenient lags, the kind that always seem to save him. I know that there are certain players that use a lag cheat. These are the ones that can never be blocked or pushed. They always end up over or under your tank, survive way too long and almost always get away with the flag. I also notice I start jumping and jittering around when these players are around me.  Oh yeah, lets not forget about those that get gold boxes the same way. I've had people admit they used a lag to get them.

^ Also, I am convinced beyond doubt that it is possible to join a battle on the side with more members (i.e. 5vs2 become 6vs2. Many times observed)..

 

And many times I am blown to pieces as if I am hit by something more than M4... obviously, I am not talking about shaft or railgun...

In regard to myself, it is not true, because my aim is not anymore to "persuade" Tanki reduce the supplies use, but to explain to as many players as possible what's going on. (which, given the average age of the players is very close to impossible too.. LOL)

 

The more people will realize that drugging does not in reality increase the crystals they earn that much, the more people will turn their backs to drugging. Although it seems to me, more trolls are "recruited" to "blur the waters"... -_-

Tanki will try and tell us that it is not possible to have an over powered account but @Godmode_ON is all the proof we need. If they can give that account over powered equipment then they can do it for anyone and probably do.  

 

The use of a shill** is not uncommon and actually would make good business sense. They make the game more dynamic and help recover some crystals and supplies, but over use can have a negative effect. I think this is what is happening now. How many times have you been in a battle and wondered "How the ....." ? How times have you then said "Fine, drugs it is then"?  Is it starting to make sense yet?
