Reduce power of garage supplies

Recommended Posts

I have no drugs at the present time, nor for a while and have to accept the inevitable at times.  I do however buy them from time to time and of course use them.  The game does have its frustrations and we have our little set backs.  Sure one might feel a little peeved but we strive to overcome problems.  Your opponent obviously took the best option for him and his team, he was successful and yo were not.  Is that not what you are really angry about?  You are angry with your self for not using your better experience to overcome a junior rank.

A little consolation for you,  The player in question may have been only a mere junior to you here.  The player may have plenty of experience in an other life ,as a much higher rank under another pseudonym or non de plume, nick name to you.  So do not feel quite so bad, it can and does happen.

I'm not angry about not using my experience, I'm pissed that my experience didn't help me prevail, and its kinda hard to kill a Mammoth when it uses Health aids and double powers every single damn minute. Tried ambushing, fail, Tried attacking from behind, fail. Tried attacking from a distance, fail. Tried Firebird, failure with the occasional kill. Tried Freeze, fail. Tried Isida, extreme failure. Equipped fully Mu'ed Metallic, actually prevented me from being oneshotted, success, I guess.

If I had some DP at the time I'd equip Mammoth-Shaft and oneshot him. Shaft on DP is effective against druggers because it won't give them the chance to use a health aid, instant death.

Bossman161

I LOOKED at you profile:

what do you do with your cry?

5 m2s. Mammoth and hornet.

shaft freeze and isida. (Isida and freeze are cheap)

Oh and in case you were wondering, I have spend alot of crystals Mu'ing my Paints. Storm has 28 from Firebird. Electra has 33 from Isida. Tundra has 32 from Railgun. Dirty, which I got fully Mu'ed, has 39 from Shaft. With that amount of protection from Shaft, I can use Mammoth M2 and survive a fully charged M3 Shaft shot and live.

Sorry for coming into the discussion after it's ended, but why would you insult him for using drugs?

I never understood the point in stopping my gameplay completely to yell out "Drugging noob!" or something of the sort and exposing myself to attack.

Not only that but it just makes you look weaker. Even if it really gets to you, just playing normally will work better.

If it would not be Lent period, i would invite you all to some cake, punsCh, beer and wine to calm down together; and after we depart everyone can think about the things that have happened, but this time looking at it from the _other_ persons perspective.

And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!

- IMHO nearly everyone can aspire to be a gentleman.

If—

BY RUDYARD KIPLING

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
    But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
    If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
    And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
    And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: ‘Hold on!’

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
    If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!

When you are playing with a light hull you only stand a chance in

Tanki 's unbalanced, heavy armour and high DPS favouring battles

when using DD.

If you don 't, than prepare to suffer in your often one-shot hull...

In every battle I 'm in (mostly DM) there are also always druggers,

so there 's no way I 'm going to withhold because there might be

some non-druggers around.

As a Tanker you probably don 't have a real option,

to not drug at all in high ranked battles.

To the ones that don 't drug: too bad, your choice.

The only supply I really dislike is the repair kit.

Again it 's favouring heavier hulls, and RK 's are one of the main reasons

why Tanki is so unbalanced.

I see light hull players (like Railers) using them a lot, but a RK only makes

some sense when you are NOT under fire.

Employing one on a light hull under fire is in most cases a complete waste of crystals.

For this reason and also because personally I perceive it as unfair

when in a 1 vs 1 situation, the loosing party cheats his way to a win by restoring full health.

I know this may not make much sense to a lot of players but that 's how I feel about it.

So I only use the few ones from Daily Rewards when I 'm in cover and that 's it.

Repair kits should be nerfed in such a way that it no longer restores full health.

Actually, 50% health from personal supplies and 75% from field drops would make more sense. They could make more money if they nerfed the personal supply RK and it would require two of them to get back to full health.

I am tempted to think that drugging is not the biggest problem in Tanki. Neither mults.

The major problem is the mentality of some people that form gangs and raid battles. They call it "success" and "goal", but in reality it's just "I dominate over people simply because I can"... Petty.

I don't know Rusty...I mean, battle raids have been around for a long time. Longer than your time in Tanki I'm afraid, haha. I think that nowadays with people partnering up with these 'M4' combos diving in and absolutely massacring players of unequal strength, is a "problem". I mean, I play with friends that have M4 equipment at times, just for the fact that they're my friends and I enjoy battling in a group, but mostly I'm a loner doing my own thing. Drugs just add to the chaos I guess.

This is in essence what happens if you have a feature like supplies with no limits. You cater to the asinine little biggots who couldn't care less about "gameplay" and just want to stomp all over everything.

In the same way they cater to both hardcore and regular players, people don't normally mix baby blue bells and bath soap in the same goodie bag.

Exactly, it is this that is the problem!  they set up games with lowly opposition to lure players in then make a take over.  its all highly organised.  Most people join a game are on their own, have varying ability and equipment.  They are lulled into games, their will be plants of the useless , deserters and such.  I was in one game on my own , some one joined the others side. then mine, then mine again then a few on the other side, them all of those on my side left leaving me on my own against several all tooled up.  It was planned, it was slick but I disappointed them and just went, so the earned nothing.

They often set up several games at the same time, just staggered, juniors start of and the big boys come in after.  I got caught today,  They like long games but short will do.  I missed that it was a longer game and was just playing happily with a big score.  I was suspicious, the game just became harder and harder, instead of being 10 2 in front we were now 10 16 behind in no time.  Folk just started leaving.  I am sure all of this is very familiar to you and other readers.  i was annoyed with my lack of observation, I would have left earlier just but it happens so fast.  CLANS

The thing is, we are paying for their kit.

I totally agree with everything you just said. I feel like druggers won't be nearly as hard to deal with if they didn't have a repair kit. Even though I am a buyer and can afford to fight druggers back no problem, the repairs limit how many full on druggers I can take on. I've beaten druggers with all 3 drugs activated sometimes with no drugs activated for myself if I have superior skill, accuracy, positioning, sitting next to supply drop, etc. Of course it works unless they have repair on top of 3 drug. Repair kit basically removes all form of ambush and screw over limited energy weapons and light hulls. Of course, I have my repair kit, too, and still kill them, but still, it's annoying. Because of the drugging, the metagame, at least in my eyes, favors weapons such as Twins, Isida, and Vulcan and hulls starting from Viking and heavier.

Well there are groups of players who like to play with each other, ie friends. When you get a 3 or 4 of these, you can call them a gang if you like. 3 or 4, smart strong players are hard to beat, especially if they're using supplies a lot. I like to do exactly this but I'd never use mults or setup a side for a fall. That's just too much hard work.

When players are content with their garage and micro upgrades, drugs come naturally. You can't expect these players just to leave. Call it tanki evolution. Players naturally go through various stages and in the end, they have m4 equipment, lots of supplies and play with friends who quite often communicate.

All these things try individual, free2play players who find it difficult or almost impossible to compete. But these groups are not the worst thing in tanki, mults and cheats remain for me the biggest problem. Players who manipulate the program's parameters to make their tank better. Players who mult to make the battlefield illegally uneven.

When I join friends to play tanki online, we play to win, not to lose and dominate if possible. It's not petty, it's evolution. Who knows, one day that'll be you and there'll be players moaning about you.

I know all about those companies of friends and in my need for fair play I would think that they ought to play in closed, private battles. Because nobody solo player can know what the opponent team is made of.

So, a team of solo, unfamiliar players against a team of familiar and well co-ordinated players is a lost cause. It's obvious. And it's Tanki's responsibility as well, not the players' responsibility.

But players take advantage of it.

Same as players take advantage of having unlimited supplies.

It's not "illegal" (according to Tanki's rules).

They call it goal, success.

I call it unfair battle.

So, it's a case of different mind set, or mentality.

So you want to handicap better-equipped players, coordinated groups or druggers to what end exactly? What constitutes fair in your book and why would players strive for complete garages and lots of supplies if they knew their efforts were to be curtailed somewhat, simply to satisfy those free2play solo players who have mismanaged their garages to the extent to which they yell, "unfair", everytime they're beaten?

I agree there should be a better balance and the suggestion I made last year went some way to redress it but tanki are not interested. Hazel belittled it, poured scorn all over it while ridiculing my input. If you guys were serious about this, you'd come up with some real workable solutions that are fair to all involved and do not harm Tanki's bottom line.   I tried and got chewed for it.  If you can't beat 'em, join 'em seems apt.

One way of curtailing some of it, is to have all members of Clans tagged. .  Only allow 2 members of a Clan in any one game.   Only allow 2 players from the same IP address play in any one game.  Together that would cut out much of the gang culture.  Its just a pity that communications have improved so much on this platform and that the friends system ever came out.

Is that you understand I want, to "handicap better-equipped players"?

If so, then either my english are really poor or your attention (on this topic) is superficial.

Solutions I addressed to Tanki but like you, was ignored and dealt with irony. My (our) solutions were focused in reworking the in-game balance by restricting the use or the effectiveness of combined supplies in standard battles or by better separation of different levels of power through battle settings (like they halfway do with rank restrictions).

And since they are working on Unity version and Flash seems to be a dead end we keep sustaining the topic waiting to see what Tanki X will offer in that field.

So, where exactly do you see a proposal on handicapping superior players?

As a different matter I deal with players attitude. There are druggers that I respect and others that I despise. Bullies, sadists and brats, don't get to see the best of me. I am really low on patience.

What a joke. What 's wrong if Tanki would make an end to clan raids in regular battles?

You can still practice together in your clan wars and go with a two man team like in Elizabeth1122 's proposal.

Which can already be really OP if two work like a Unity (what 's in a name)

And my garage is good enough to have a good chance against every single fighter, but no one is a match

against a coordinated heavy M4 group full on supplies.

Many of those group-hero 's don 't stand a chance if they have to fight alone: not so skilled after all I guess.

Saw enough of those shooting-gallery vids, even in this thread...to be utterly unimpressed.

It has nothing to do with victory and success:

to me these mob-players are the same like those doped cycle teams:

they also "beat" everyone, what a "great" accomplishment!

Proving my point, thanks.

Here's a thought:

A lot of people want Repair Kit nerfed, and I totally understand why. The thing is a piece of extremely hard crap to fight against, as it not only recharges the user's health entirely, but also provides them with two seconds of invincibility. Paired with Double Armor and you get the infamous DARK combo, the bane of many a Firebird or Freeze's existence.

As it is right now, RK heals 200 hitpoints per second for two seconds, or 400 hit points, which is enough to max out pretty much any hull. In fact, you won't even have a maximum of 400 hitpoints unless you get a massive hull like Mammoth M3 or Titan M4. It's overkill for lighter hulls unless you can 1-shot them, but with a DARK combo that's practically impossble.

Here's my suggestion: Instead of healing 200 hitpoints per second, make the Repair Kit heal 100% of a tanker's health over the course of 2 seconds. This way, the people who use Repair Kit responsibly can still have full functionality, while people who spam DARK combos when bumping into anyone in an alleyway will find themselves slightly underpowered.

And of course, if you get damaged while using a Repair Kit, it won't heal that extra damage. If your maximum is 200 hitpoints, and you're at 150, using a Repair Kit will heal you 200 hitpoints, but if you take 50 points of damage while the Repair Kit is active, you'll be down to 150 again.

That's just a suggestion. I highly doubt Tanki will actually listen to me, since it's been shown that they don't listen to any actual people and instead listen to their bank accounts, but hey, it's nice to think about...

So your solution is to take away the advantage of individual players in a team. You want an equal battlefield.  Tell me, why would people pay for this game then if there is never any advantage to be had?

How difficult would it be for tanki to develop an algorithm that ensures power balance across all games on all servers? Nobody would ever be allowed to join a battle due to ineligibility and they certainly wouldn't be able to play with similar strength friends unless everything balanced.

You've really not considered it properly have you? Up to now you've just moaned a lot and not provided any sensible or practical solutions. Propose one something fair and real and I'll support it but up to now the only one that came close was mine and there was little support from the people here for it when Hazel was riding roughshod over it. You may have liked the idea but there wasn't many coming to its defense.

The players Rusty has been moaning about are not a clan. They are a small group of friends. 4 or 5 at most play together at any one time but typically 2 or 3.

So you're asking tanki to get rid of clans and by extension friends and you dare to say "what a joke" in response to my carefully considered post. No wonder you guys have not got very far with this. All hot air and no substance.

@friends in battles

AbsoluteZero - you once proposed an idea, to make friend relations in a battle visible (to spot mults).

If tanki also displays friend relations inside of the teams, it then would be more transparent, in which situation you move into, once you enter a battle.

Still the problem persists that an fresh M3 generalissimo with 1.4Mio XP faces a team of 3Mio XP generalissimos.

therefore

I also proposed on different locations in the forum, to add a few ranks after generalissimo.

So once you read the magical 1.4 Mio XP, all gear is unlocked.. and you start to save for extra paints or microupgrades.. but at the same time you would further go up the rank ladder.

Why do so?

-> Then the players between 1Mio XP and 1.4Mio XP could finally have a better judgement, of what opposes them in battles.

It is highly unlikely that a 1.4Mio XP generalissimo has already perfect M4 gear.

But if I see that I oppose a person with 3Mio XP, then I can count 1+1 together, and know what to expect if I enter a battle.

It basically follows the principle of battle rank limits, that are already in the game today and proove worth (except you run a clan trinaing).

well, raiding battles (with group,or "gang" as someone here described) with <300 fund and 8:1~3 is best thing ever (my point of view)  :) PRO battles,or even better, standard battles..you join, after you respawn all you see is majority of light hulls (full drugged, combining dops and garage druggs) "fairly" defending that earlier described "mountain" of fund :D typing "no druggs" while charging on fresh (read DD+finger on HK :D ) opponents with combo worth (together with MU) less then 500 000 crystals..those I love the most..

plus, you guys realls need to separate honorable teams which dont use mults and scumbags that use them in every possible battle

trust me..they still exist..and they "re raid" mult based raiding teams every possible time ;)
