The main thing that keeps me in Tanki Online is the community. It is the community, and the community's people that makes me want to come here and work at making it even better every day. My motivation, is entirely derived from that of others. Tanki is a place where the players (believe it or not) get more of a say than most people in other game communities. The game is fantastic, the people are fantastic, and the potential to bring positive change is amazing.

 

Thanks for making this a place I want to be guys. :)

I am happy when I play :P I play very rarely.

In game I feel good when a drugger is losing against me (without drugs) :D, when I score a double-kill with Railgun, when I detect a good kit to buy (I have bought Commando and Buffalo)

I like when a team really works together. When everyone puts the common goal of winning ahead of their own crystal count. Even if we lose, those are the best games to me.

 

It's also nice when the teams treat each other with respect. Sportsmanship makes the game so much better.

 

Other things I love:

 

Dropping mines.

 

Sneaking up on Shafts.

 

Getting killed by fire and freeze at the same time.

 

Playing Control Points on a map that has more than one control point. Why is it so unpopular? It's my favorite type of match.

 

I love Madness, with its low gravity and New Age music. It is special. Also Year 2042, Rio, Superhov, Berlin, and Dusseldorf. And Highland is a work of art.

 

I love when someone I'm going head-to-head with uses a health kit, because that's my cue to use shields + health kit, doing them one better and not even feeling bad about it.

 

Meeting new people who are mature and don't take themselves too seriously.

It is no secret that I feel there is a lot wrong with Tanki, but there are so many great things about this game as well. I somehow missed this topic until now but will take this opportunity to list the positive.

 

The style of game play:

At first I came to Tanki looking for a Tank game, something more like a simulation type game. This is not that and has turned out to be very fun to play.

 

The quality of the game in general:

The fact that this game is played in a browser is quite an achievement and is what drew me to Tanki in the first place. When I first started Tanki, I was using an old laptop running Linux so having to download a client was out of the question. I wasn't expecting much at the beginning, but I'm still amazed at how good Tanki looks and feels.

 

The Community: 

I found that, for the most part, the players were inviting and friendly when I started. There were many that were willing to pass on what they had learned in the game and in this forum. For a community this size, the moderators do a fairly good job of keeping it under control and that is made easier by the quality of the people in this community. I know I have been hard on the mods at times but criticism only makes one better. I have made enemies but I have also made friends, some of which will probably be friends long after we stop playing.

 

Are there some major issues with the game at the moment? YES, but hopefully those in charge will take the opportunity they have, in switching to Unity, to fix all these issues. Hopefully they will learn to tap into the massive resource they have right in front of them. That resource is this community.

There are some amazingly smart and talented people that play this game. We have people ranging from very young all the way up to their 60's and from every walk of life. This brings a lot of different points of view and various levels of experience. Tanki should feel very lucky to have such a resource at their disposal. So many of us just want to help make Tanki even better.

Remember this, even when discussions get heated and it sound like some people are just trying to destroy Tanki, it is actually the opposite. People get so upset because they care. Hating an idea or update so much that they take the time to complain can actually be taken as a compliment for the rest of the game. It means we care enough to try to get it fixed. If we hated Tanki so much and we didn't care we would just leave.
