Let's discuss the updated system for earlier battle finish

Really annoying.

For me the messages in the top-center of the screen are also very very disturbing. And now the continuous alerting litters my screen top covering the area I would like to aim at.

Let me switch off these top-center messages.

Good point. Those sceen-top messages are irritating to me, too.

I would rename this update to "The manic depressive drama queen who cried wolf". From "WE"RE ALL GONNA DIE!!!" to "VICTORY IS OURS!!!" and back (and forth) in 60 seconds.

While the idea is good, the implementation is not. In my mind this feature should shorten those one sided no sports value battles, but let all other battles (which are 80% of the battles) run their due course without interference.

People have eloquently said most that there is to say: too sensitive, too often, too intrusive. I would add:

1. Since the clock is done and undone all the time, it is hard to know the "real" battle duration.

2. For CTF, count the flag takes alone and make the threshold 5 flags difference. While more kills are nice to have, they don't matter in the battle outcome.

3. For all modes, make the "earlier battle finish" check run every five minutes, then once more if the short timer was activated to determine if the battle indeed needs to be stopped. And no more. This will cover all one sided games, while leaving be all the other "normal" games.

4. Last but not least, the sounds are ANNOYING AS HELL!! I ended up playing DM where this feature is irrelevant. Until this is fixed I will have to play with the sound off, which is too bad because otherwise the audio of the game is great.

Keep up the good work, but please spare us from this update the way it is now.

This update has me seeing RED!!  Seriously?? Go back to the old early ending model! At least that didn't have klaxons blaring every two seconds. I have to turn my sound way down now so others in the house don't get upset at hearing those klaxons/horns every few seconds.. Late night playing while others sleep.. NO SOUND. I've seen some talk that players are going to leave the game if it stays this way.  Personally, if a battle is going on and one side looses players and there's like 3 on one side and 12 on the other.. then ya, end the battle early.  But if it's nearly evenly matched player numbers, and the score is showing one team way ahead.. leave it alone!!

Med/Heavy hull update: My opinion is, those hulls are still WAY too weak and should be tweaked up even more.

Anyway, thanks for your hard work, but this update is a flop.. can you say rewind? :P

Before it was not activating, but now it over-activates, literally no matter what the score is, whether 1-0 or 0-13, it keeps going on and off constantly, it needs some fixing, because clearly at certain points it should just end and some points shouldn't even trigger at all

Please, please turn off the horns, the noise, and get rid of the "Atta boy!" "Do something!" "Gonna win!" messages.  Just hugely annoying and not helpful in any way.

Too many sirens.  I'm sure you know that already.

Here's what I propose:  Don't do any sirens at all for the first 2 minutes of a game.

If you entered a game, you obviously intend to play it, so 2 minutes gives it a chance to develop.

How about this: The siren only goes off if the Battle-Ends-Sooner timer comes down to 30 seconds.

And please, Please PLEASE don't have those annoying messages on the screen.....the old ones were fine, no need to make me feel noobish. -_-

Don't mind the update except sometimes there are too many distracting sounds and too many messages on the screen. People should be able to see if they are getting too far behind in the points!

How's this for an algorithm basis on CTF:

1 - The early ending goes off when the number of flags needed to even the score is impossible to obtain during the time left. This would be calculated by multiplying the number of flags needed by the time it takes the fastest tank (available to the highest rank possible for that battle), through the fastest route on that map, to get from the closest spawning site to the enemy flag and then to own flag.

2 - The early warning goes off if the player ratio blue/red or red/blue is below 0.5 after 1/3 of the game's intended time.

3 - Once the early ending has been triggered, there is no going back! Even if the conditions that triggered it are no longer true.

Well before the update the sirens sound was rare but it sounded cool, now whenever this feature is enabled in any battle it goes on and Off a lot more than before . the sound became as boring as a soundtrack u have heard a thousand times ... obviously this feature needs more tweaking and more feedback from the community till the developers find the sweet spot that will make us all happy.

Have a nice day.  :)

It was a good idea to have the early ending sound go off based on the last few minutes, but it happens too often now. And instead of encouraging the losing team to fight harder, it seems to make them want to leave more as this goes off more. This just makes the losing team even more likely to lose. Also, a team can't be winning without this alarm going off.

Please just tweak this a bit more. :)

If you haven't figured out what is happening yet:  all players see all the notifications and hear all the signals for both sides.  There is no way to tell which ones are intended for your side.

The concept may be good, but the notification sounds are just HORRIBLE. Today, the whole game I spent my time discussing with fellow players how annoying the sounds are. You can't concentrate on the game at all. In a 15 minute game, the it notifies over 50 times that we are "Doing great" and have to "Push harder", or have to "Do something", otherwise, "We will lose". We already know if we are losing or doing great. We don't need to be notified by this ANNOYING sound every 5 seconds.

I hope the developers will find another solution for this. I like playing with the sound on, but when there is this notification sound every 5 seconds, you go crazy and the best thing is just to leave the game.

this thing goes off every freaking second, even triggering the "doing great" or "Do something" at the same time as "Gap in score is closing" causing my ears to explode, my mind to go haywire, and me to keep strongly believing that this is a pointless, horrible update. What is the point of a battle ending early if it doesn't because every kill some1 makes, their team is apparently destroying the other team so much that the other team is judged as inactive. I'm gonna go back to playing DMs if this update stays...

The sounds are distracting and I really could do without them; I can't hear mines being dropped for example. Please give us a volume mixer/sound controls so I can decide what is important for me to hear and what is less important.

Battle Finish Alert -->-------

Gold Box Alert      --------->

Mine Alert            -------->-

Background          ---->-----

Battle Sounds       ---->-----

Now, it evaluates changes in the teams’ balance faster and more precisely,

a bit too precisely. I find the increase in the amount of alarms to be REALLY distracting. (Although, VERY ANNOYING might be a more accurate way of putting it)

Overall I'll give you guys a 5.625 for the effort. (deducting of course for the active update placed in the game)

Shoot for a 10.

Your welcome. :)

To be fair, the encouragement messages are kinda cool. so props for that part.

The new protocol for ending battles early is a poor design.

I was just in a battle and the "ending early" protocol kept switching on and off during the whole battle, which never ended early.

It was pointless and frustrating.

Please return to the old protocol which I thought worked well.

is this what this is trying to achieve?

. . . (removed youtube link) . . .

I know it is bad quality, but I wanted to upload it quick.

Yes. The new system is not working as intended - the battle is lasting longer than it used to.

I had a 15 minute CTF battle where we got about 7 flags in 6 minutes, while the enemy got 0. Most of them left the battle. We continued to get flags until the score was about 15-0 and there were zero enemy left - but the game still did not end early. The counter continued as normal the full 15 minutes.

Also the horns kept going off.

It seems to me that the system is not working properly.  The battle enters the special mode too soon.  This can be observed just by watching at the battle list.  A CTF battle is in normal mode, 2 to 3 and suddenly in just seconds it is in "emergency" mode and the score is just 4 to 3, and one abstains from joining the battle because of this. This difference doesn't justify ending the battle sooner.

Apart from this it is common that some people leave battle.  There are players who like to continue the battle, despite the numeric advantage of the enemy.  I think it is a good idea to end the battle sooner when it is totally lost, but not too soon.

Some of my most fun moments in Tanki are when people join at the end of a game and transform a 7-0 game to a 7-6 game. Very exciting. Perhaps that is gone now? I am not sure I understand the end-early system, although I realize with a fixed-time battle it becomes necessary in order to keep the hopeless games (0 enemy) from becoming a boring 'wait for the clock' thing.
