Let's discuss the updated system for earlier battle finish

There has to be a better method. The annoyance/distraction factor for the alarm horn sound, along with the message at the top of the screen actually hinders gameplay. When the alarm is sounding it is nearly impossible to hear the engines of tanks coming up behind you or tanks shooting nearby which renders you more vulnerable. Add to this the distraction presented when you are watching for enemies or aiming for a shot and its simply not in the interest of good gameplay.

 

I guess if you aren't trying to win battles and help your team it does not matter. I think any players wishing to be competitive and be an asset to their team would not find this an acceptable update as it currently functions.

It has decreased now but only slightly. Hoping the administration will make some more changes to it so it does it even less frequently. As others have said, yes, it is very annoying. At least these people update though, unlike the admins to Superstar Racing.

 

Go ahead, try it, it's aggravating how they only update once every two months it seems. Here I'll leave the link. If I didn't like racing so much I wouldn't even play it lol

This update for the earlier battle finish went from barely working to working way too much. I cant even play with my sound on anymore, because its horn after horn after horn every other minute!!!! I suggest you just take this system off completely, because they siren and notifications on the top are SO DANG ANNOYING!

Watch this video and try to figure out what the LOUD alerts are trying to tell the players.

0:37 a different player takes the flag

1:34 the second flag is FINALLY captured

1:57 for no reason the game goes back to normal

 

1) It is a 30-minute game that had already been reduced to 3 minutes during the first 3 minutes of the game. (then back to 26:00)

 

2) There were 4 alerts and all that occurred was that one team scored 2 flags in 4 minutes.
 

3) After the first few minutes, the score went to 11-0 and not a thing was heard for another 20 minutes.

WTF, this update is utter trash! New round finishing early and is pointless and frustrating, i can see many tankers leaving this game just cause of it... come on tanki... why can’t you just return the older version where there was no faster round finish, Those who waited the time event deserved the crystals whilst those who left didn’t cause they couldn’t wait. 

 

My second negative is... Why would you make the bigger hulls OP when you can just change the price of the hornet. Cant you see that non buyers can’t afford the bigger tanks at m2/m3 range. But hornet is the cheapest hull in game. Its pretty clear why most people buy it. I think what you have done here won’t change anything at all. It will just make buyers have more power and be OP in game. By changing the price for hornet the game would become more balanced IMO.

 

Please take my advice onboard.

I am glad that you realize that there is something wrong with the early end system. However, this made it worse. Like others noticed, I sometimes hear the alarm go on and off all the time. It still misses some cases where it should go on, and, to compensate for that, it goes on when it should not.

 

I think you need to reconsider the criteria when it should go on.

 

I think part of the problem is that you are comparing the absolute delta in score. I believe that you need to factor in how long the game has been going on. Never turn the alarm on when the game is less than 1 minute old. When you toggle the state of the alarm, do not toggle it again within a couple of minutes. Sit back and observe. Factor in the ratio of the total score too. If one team scored 2000 over the last 10 minutes, do not panic if they score 400 this minute.

 

Things to consider:

 

  • How long has the battle been going on.
  • How far is the set end.
  • How long is the battle.
  • The absolute score of both teams.
  • The absolute delta of score of both teams.
  • The percentage score increase of both teams.
  • The absolute size of both teams.
  • The relative size of both teams.
  • Don't do a standard 10% time grace period. You need to base that on the size of the battle (the sizes of both teams). Make the grace period from 2-4 minutes, not from 1.5-6 minutes and crazily longer for longer PRO battles.
  • Start observing as soon as the first team scores. If they stay 10 minutes without scoring, relax. They are doing something else.

 

This is not as trivial a change as you must have though when the idea struck your fancy. It is pretty complicated.

I was wondering if my experience was due to being a low rank. From the looks of some of the comments, nope. 

 

Simply, this early time function is broke. It just doesn't work. 

 

The first update that implemented it worked. It had its problems, but it worked. Each update has made it less annoying, until this one, but each update has made it work less well. This update seems to holler about the battle ending, then it hollers and says things are back to normal, then it repeats, over and over for lopsided battles. And, it didn't on another lopsided battle that kept going uninterrupted. Something is wrong with the calculation. The timer-check shouldn't be checking for the first couple minutes. Then it should be checking the score balance, and it should be checking ratios. I'm not sure exactly, but the first one worked medium well. This round doesn't work. It is calculating something wrong. It says it will stop, and it doesn't, and it does it often, too often.

The earlier battle finish didn't worked good at all.

1. I was alone in the battle an I must play 15 minutes and bring the flag till 30:3 and then he is triggered, and I must wait 3 minutes

    for finish.

    O yea, big success.

2. The game is going and one team is good and winnig with 30:3. The timer is not triggered. The game finnished finelly.

    The new game starts and the result is 0:0, but the earlier battle finish is triggered. WHY!? I don't know but he suddenly decided

    to do that. Wrong. When the new game starts please reset the timer and all variables.

3. In the same situation on the start of new game 0:0, and I push ESC button, but no he ask me and warn me that the game is till

    to finnish and maybe its better to not do that. But I want to go out. I want You to reset timers and variables and everything when

    new game is start OK!

4. From the first time of origin the game, one very frustrating bug survives, when there is lug or delay in the game or loosing

    frames or slow internet communication, for the local user everything and everybody going to move by inertia path and this

    is not all, till the time we notice that (this is how you recognize that from normal game play: in that mode players go straight

    to the wall and going to climb on it, or go in the circle), we shooting and loosing our ammunication, and when everything goes

    normal we with fuel tank (freez, firebird etc) we going to play without ammunition and must wait till it full. The strange thing is

    that in that moment the ping is normal 33, but when I trash my ammunition and being died then my ping goes to 999 and

    when I  spone again my ping is normal. In that mode they can kill me normal but I can not kill no one, one thing more I can

    not do anything to the enemy player.

    I know that, because when I play with freez or firebird I shoot a whole reservoir and the enemy tank color is the same.

eactly its realy not working well this update... all the time its 10vs 10 and its like from 30 min to 5 min so...

Also when everyone left the alarm said we were going to win but then 15 sec latter it says "round will proceed as normal" What! No was even killing! So we waited another 9min for the game to finish.  -_-

 

I preferred the old one, at least it didn't go off every 5sec.

Hey guys! We noted the feedback about the red timer popping up too often. Thanks a lot for sharing the info with us. Our game designers have just changed the system's parameters, now it's harder to trigger (3 times harder, to be precise). The updated system applies to all battles created today after 7 am UTC.

If you have more things to share about the work of the system, make sure you share them in this topic.

Sometimes when there is only 1 player in the opposition it says that the battle will end but then says "Gap in score is closing" when no one is killing as the opposition player is in pause. Could you please fix that bug.

For me the messages in the top-center of the screen are also very very disturbing. And now the continuous alerting litters my screen top covering the area I would like to aim at. 

 

Let me switch off these top-center messages.

agree with this.... if I playing on different view angle - it's really disturbing because i cant see my targets in the front.

Tanki always doing updates from another end....  :huh:

1. Releasing update by own opinion.

2. Creating discussion topic and ONLY reading nowhere didn't seen Kirov any comment so come and discuss if you wish.

3. After discussion they knows that need do something and at this time players should play with crazy update.

 

Any chance change your tactics by this?

1. Make announce that you planning release a new update.

2. Then let for players try it on test server for day or more days & create discussion topic

3. Then decide what players really wants from your update

Today after the "fix" there is now a wait of a few seconds between the notifications.  Still no good.  The first version of 'earlier battle finish' seemed stupidly pointless - battles of 10 vs. 2 or 3 never seemed to end early - but the current variation is so annoying that I am spending most of my game time on Pogo.

This update is annoying as hell.

 

Never mind the fact that it triggers 5 times every 10 seconds, never mind the it tell you you may lose even when you are winning by 50 flags to none, never mind that it doesn't trigger when the other team is completely gone and you are playing against no one... Just the sound of it going off contantly throughout the battle made me stop playing, even when I was about to rankup.

 

Please, for the love of God, Buddah, Krishna, Joe Pesci, I don't care.... make a mute button for the alarm. Yes I know that I can simply turn the volume down, but if I do it and can't tell if the shots are comming too close, what kind of weapons are being shot and sometimes the clock triggers so fast that even the Gold Box warning isn't visible, if not for the sound we can't tell if its dropping or not.

I agree. Many times I asked my team mates if there was a button only to turn off the siren and keep the sound of the game... All the time I play now, if I play with sound I only wanna throw the computer against the wall. I appreciate the effort that have been done, but I think this is the worst update in tanki ever... Please change it as soon as possible: change to like it was before, or keep it but with a button to turn off the siren.

Yesterday I played in Polygon CP, and it was annoying and many times i got angry due the fact that every time that a point was captured, the horn sounded (to do something even when we were winning, that battle would end earlier, and the clock always changing to 3 min without reason 'cause all of the team were doing a great job). Until this is changed, I think I will play without sound - that takes all the fun of the game...
