Let's discuss the updated system for earlier battle finish

Hey guys! We noted the feedback about the red timer popping up too often. Thanks a lot for sharing the info with us. Our game designers have just changed the system's parameters, now it's harder to trigger (3 times harder, to be precise). The updated system applies to all battles created today after 7 am UTC.

 

If you have more things to share about the work of the system, make sure you share them in this topic.

Does not work, notifications popping up every few seconds and the battle never actually ends in any situation

 

This only seems to be working for certian ranks and at smaller maps, never used to be annoying in previous battle finish

I am glad that you realize that there is something wrong with the early end system. However, this made it worse.

This is not as trivial a change as you must have though when the idea struck your fancy. It is pretty complicated.

The latest "fix" did not work:

30 minute battle (aptly enough in NOISE) had TWENTY TWO HORNS -- but the game, which could have ended after 10 minutes, continued,because every "end early" was followed by a "continuing normally" for no reason whatsoever (no relevant change occurred, just a flag event).

 

You have made it both annoying and even less likely to resolve a lopsided battle. Why did you tinker in the first place without testing?

fix the system

we were leading 7-0

and the notification comes that "u need to do better"

seriously tanki ?

and thats not all

in a 30 minute NORMAL game

it popped more than 50 times for sure

it made us players mad

 

i think the system forgot to count the number of flags

because whenever the score margin increased or decreased , the notification came

irrespective of the number of flags captured by both sides

I guess I was not the only one who experience this.

 

There was nobody on the enemy team, and we got the early end horn. A few seconds later, we got the all clear horn. There was still nobody on the enemy team, so there was no way anybody could have scored anything. That was Polygon CP. I realize that our CP score might have increased, but that makes all more reason to end the battle early.

 

Also, when there is nobody on the other team, can you please end it within half a minute or less?

Nothing has changed.

Monte Carlo 30 minutes: TEN "early ending" alerts in first 10 minutes? (score 1-1, 2-1)

All of them then changed back to "proceeding normally"...? Game never ended early despite going 9-1.

 

I guess you are going to wait until people stop playing. Won't see me again until this is fixed. :(

Good news for me: not buying crystals. Bad news for you: me not buying crystals.

Bad system . 

 

34 flags to the enemies . 6 to us and "Doing great " -__-  ? 

 

And every 3 minutes I see " Gap is closing " do something " . 

 

My face : -__- 

 I see that every 30 seconds when we are winning 8-1, 9-1, 10-1 or 11-1! (Look above)

I don't know if it's just me, but the systems been crazy, telling me "Do something" when my team is in the lead, or saying "Keep up the good work" when I'm about to lose :/, It alternated between those 3 times in a row once.

 

In any case theres definitely something wrong with it.

I just participated in 3 Serpuhov CTF games on two servers, and it seems like nothing changed. Maybe a bit less klaxons, but not sure about that.

 

Tanki, we appreciate the emergency measures to remedy this nasty update, but we need a real fix. If now is 3x less sensitive then make it 9x less sensitive (1:0 and 25 minutes to go in a 30 min CTF match is does NOT require robotic timer intervention). And the sounds ruin the game - beyond the audible harassment, Tanki is not a boxing match and we don't need the honky announcements, it spoils the sci-fi/battlefield feel of the game.

 

Not wanting to play the game the way it is right now.  :(

I have just played a CTF on Alexandr...

 

The system still fails a lot. Unreasonable setting back to normal in a clear win situation and off-balanced blue-red setup.

 

In my blue team 10 players against 3 in the red. The score was 9 to 0, and we continuously killed them and took the flag.

No our flag was attacked by them. They managed to kill one of us very very rarely.

Still, the siren continuously warned us about the earlier then the normal battle finish. 

 

There should be a kind of hysteresis, so after setting the early battle finish, it should not set it back to normal soon. It should wait some time.

 

Still irritating, and not understandable.

 

The messages on the screen disturb the aiming with railgun on a 16:9 screen as someone has already written.

This update hasn't helped one bit, people still get 30 or 40 flags in 15 min games, it should make things balanced, between supply users and those who don't have any or don't like to use them, so that everyone has a fair chance

Please remove the silly trumpet sounds and phrases like "do something!". It is very annoying and disturbes the concentration during the game. :wacko: :wacko: :wacko: :wacko:

The "Fix" failed.   Unless you're in a pro battle with the timer turned off you are subjected to constant horns and never know how much time you have left in battle.   The horn should not be ringing 3x a minute.   Unless this is a plot to force players to buy pro passes and only battle there then your "new" alarm system only serves to make the game unplayable.

First I want to say I think the devs have a really good "lump of clay" idea.

I see what you're trying to do. But clearly it isn't working. So I will suggest using some different sets of eyes.

I will suggest that those of you out there that have spec, watch some random battles and see if you can figure out a way to help the devs.
Perhaps offer some ideas or suggestions that maybe they have not thought of.


My observations: I watched a couple of random battles and what I noticed was that the alarm is triggered by kills.

Meaning, when red team has a higher score, and  red players with a higher D/L then it goes off.

I also noticed that the bases were equally covered with defense. so the bases were basically equal.

But as each player, (in the few battles I observed) have different combos, it's not easy for me to say what triggers the alarm.(although, I suspect it is the team with the higher D/L plus more flags >> Even though both teams are battling just as hard....with the exception of the usual mults one will find from time to time) I can only say that at moments when it was triggered, the playing field was pretty much level, and in my opinion, (with my experience of spectating many pro battles) there really wasn't a reason why the alarm should have been triggered at all.

Hope this helps, and I would encourage any who have spec to take a few minutes to observe some battles and offer feedback.

I am to make sure that the devs got the point that the messages are meaningless. The team who is losing badly knows it. If they don't, don't worry about it, chances are they would not know what the message means anyway, especially that the messages are switched.

 

In addition to GeneralVeers suggestion, I say record a few battles where the horn honks a dozen or a few dozen times and dissect that battle. Figure out when it made sense and when it did not, and see how you need to fix it.

 

I have been saying this is not a trivial task even before Semyon Strizhak liked it and said he would implement it. It turned out to be even harder than I anticipated and 100 times harder than Semyon thought.

 

If you have to, take it out until you figure it out. Just keep the part where a battle should end within half a minute if one team leaves completely and the battle fund is nonzero.

Has anyone noticed that the servers are nearly empty? 

 

No one is playing.

 

I just played another game with the "early ending" protocol going ....

 

on and off, on and off, on and off.......

 

FIX THIS !!!!

How about when a group joins a battle where their team is behind,  they fight hard and start fighting back and the alarm sounds with the message "good job, keep pressing and end the battle early"  while the team is STILL BEHIND!!     So... if you join the blue team while it's 5 flags down with 45 minutes left and start to fight back, you may end up losing because you're beginning to overrun red and the battle ends early.  Not much incentive to join a team that's behind.   That's why fewer battles are being joined,  why bother if you're only going to trigger the battle ending early giving the other team the win even though you're outplaying them and catching up.

I have asked this before too.If you play the battle for more time without the early battle finishing system,you can gain more crystals as the fund will increase during that time.So I think its only fair that the fund gets doubled or tripled or maybe even more multiplied depending on the amount of time that was left in the normal battle mode.
