moving turrets up and down

Recommended Posts

How about new update which brings you ability to move turrets up and down? It will be easier to shoot enemies on higher platforms, or to shoot lower enemies if you are on high building. Today when I was playing in Island map, one fly hacker climbed on tallest house with our flag, and no one was able to hit him nor kill him. He couldn't kill too, but we couldn't play normal. So I came with this idea, in this case by moving a turret up, fly hacker would be destroyed there. And in his case, by moving a turret down, he would be able to shoot our team members, but he is only one that were up there, it wouldn't be a problem to kill him. After 20 mins being in the battle, fly hacker got kicked out from the battle, we all reported him, but never mind that now, let's go back to an idea now. Maybe 45 degrees would be enough for moving a turret up and down. And when you press "c" key then normally goes back to 0 degrees. What do you think?

Manual vertical aim is special(exclusive, as of now) ability of shaft in sniping mode. Giving that ability to all turrets might ruin shaft. The auto-aim feature in game now works just fine. It is fun and challenging to learn to adjust our Hull to shoot enemies too above or too below us. More explanation can be found in VLog 36.

So, in my opinion, this opinion will make it too easy for us to kill enemies, and where is the fun in that. ;)

P.S. There is something known as a kill box. So, if a hacker goes too much above the map he will die.

  • Auto-aim upwards and downwards already exists. Twins and ricochet can hit things above and below at 40 degrees, while other turrets can do this around 30 degrees.
  • believe that 45 degrees would be very unrealistic. It would be almost impossible for  a barrel to point so far upwards, and the shell still come out as normal. But the developers don't care much about realism.
  • What keys would move your turret upwards and downwards? This is the tricky part.
  • It seems like the main reason you want this is to stop fly-hackers. Fly-hackers are fairly rare, and the developers are doing everything they can to stop them. However I don't think that the developers would introduce this feature to the game, as it could change things a lot, and only for the sake of allowing you to kill fly hackers.

This isn't an absurd idea. Auto-aim upwards and downwards already exists so there wouldn't be much of a point. Also, you might as well just increase auto-aim upwards and downwards to 45 degrees, and accomplish exactly the same thing without creating separate turret controls. Ricochet, Twins, Isida and Vulcan all have high autoaim upwards and downwards, more so than the other turrets. If every turret had the same auto-aim then the previously mentioned turrets would no longer have an advantage, not to mention Shaft.

So, in all, there is no real point in this update and would just interfere with game balance.

This will make our game unnecessarily complicated. Besides, why would you need to do that? Never try to make something, if you can live without it.

Please continue discussion here.
