Interesting point about, "being the tank". Perhaps something as simple as adding additional camera views would further enhance this experience of being the tank itself. A bit off-topic, but entirely with the greater intention at mind.

Tanki was never supposed to be fully realistic. Look at Ricochet. Heck there are tanks flying around at a hundred miles per hour, how many tanks do you see doing that?

And why should cartoonism be a bad thing? Do we really want to be World of Tanks in that regard?

+ 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000

Back to the topic at hand, it would be nice if we just had some simple icons such as this:

Waving hand - hello/goodbye (unless you want to implement hello/goodbye for every single language!)

Exclamation mark - help! Alert!

Question mark - what's going on? What is this?

A plus sign - either means agreement or heal me!

An X - stop! do NOT do this! Stay away from here!

Heart - thank you! Or even I like you!

Hourglass - busy, AFK, or still loading perhaps.

Happy face - exactly what it is. Celebrate! Give thanks! Joy!

Sad face - exactly what it is. Lament your losses!

Angry face - exactly what it is! That guy just won't leave you alone.

Two swords crossed - attack! Let's fight!

Shield - defend the fort! Hold fast!

And when the tanker is in garage changing equipment, I saw a suggestion earlier that would be perfect; have symbol of gears turning over the tank who is in garage. That way we know if he is either truly AFK or just changing equipment.

I like that list, way better than my single suggestion of the gear, but @ any ideas yet as to how people will activate those emotions ?

The idea would be great, but it'd probably completely eradicate the small feeling of "realism" Tanki had, and reduce the sense of warfare.

Looks like Tanki's going Club Penguin

i can understand your disdain about club penguin which obviously doesn't cater about people of your age group or type, but you'd be amazed at how many things that children game has that could actually be of real use to tanki.  And what sense of realism !?!!?!????  Dude I play this game because it is unreal, they even have a killing machine made out of a fridge and vaccum cleaner   if that's a real thing then I quit right now !!

Which metal gear exactly? xD

Ive only played peace walker and rising:revengence .-.

In all Metal Gear games, enemies will display a " ! " over their heads if they see you and a " ? " over their heads if they see something unusual or are confused. I think Hazel's suggesting something similar.

I actually like this idea- it would help players of different languages play together. The only possible issue would be a lot of these little icons popping up around the screen, which could increase lag. If there was an option to turn it off, I don't think there would be any downsides.

I don't mind if the "bubbles" are like that.. It can be a good idea. What I said is that if the design is too cartoonish (cartoonish super mario style) then Tanki will turn South Park... I wouldn't like that kind of design... just that.

Also it did cross my mind to have something similar to this chap for when I snatch a goldbox under the nose of some noobs

That would be hilarious, but unfortunately Hazel doesn't like the idea of actual faces (smileys, rage faces) showing above tanks...

What's the point of having that when you can just type "?" or "!" in chat. it would be much better and much more useful to just have text from chat showing in a bubble above the tank.

You know... if customization will be possible... yeah, sure, why not. But it won't be present in standard set.

Hazel you are a dev so why don't you simply suggest it in the TO workplace? This is a good idea though.

Maybe because he wants to see what players think of an idea before going about it? And to see if we can suggest improvements? It's called interacting with your userbase :P

Please, a troll face was ok with the developers in the past when they made that crazy maze in Osa that only lead to a life preserver. :D

If you want to make the game more immersive, why consider implementing chat

bubbles when you can go one giant leap ahead and include a voice-chat system?

Other games have it, it's much more convenient than typing, because you can

communicate without having to stand still and type, some of us are fast typers

but not all of us can type 100 words per minute and keep up with the battle.

But let's be honest now, in pro matches, Tanki and every single game out there,

NOBODY uses chat, NOBODY types anything, because it's much more reliable

to speak up and use voice-chat. If the game doesn't have a decent voice-chat,

or none at all, then players use TeamSpeak or Ventrilo, that's just the way it

is...

I agree, it should be like the current chat system in the lobby. If you use an emotion then there should be a small period of delay (maybe 5 to 10 seconds?) to prevent spam.
