  1. 1. Do you agree that after a certain rank in Tanki fun gets less and less due to increasing need for crystals?

    • Yes, by all means. Fun gets less as one ranks up.

During the last few months something started to bother me in Tanki. In the beggining I thought it was the constant updates that spoiled my current playing style, or some of the updates that where bad, in my opinion, for most of the players...

But now I think it is that from some point the game began to be more a way to gather crystals than a thing I did for fun.

That point I thing was arount the rank of major.

It was when I started to calculate my present and future needs in upgrades and paints and I started to play not for the fun of it but in order to make a good score and thus a good amount of crystals.

Sometimes I new it, sometimes I didn't. But now that I bring into memory momments of the past, I see that more or less, the game has become a way to make meets end, short of... I don't enter a battle anymore just to play carefree, but I choose a suitable battle, one in which I may get lots of crystals.

So, that's not good.

I wonder, is this a problem of mine only, or a common case?

That's why I made this topic.

What do you think?

And, if you agree, any ideas how we can bring back the fun of the game?

I don't know whether you play XP or not, but I play XP battles for fun, and not for crystals. I do play normal battles for crystals, but it's still fun for me. It's also very interesting for me to play with my friends, meet new people in chat, try new weapons and etc. So, I don't think Tanki has lost its fun. You are right, it's not so fun as it used to be, but it hasn't lost its entire fun yet.

.for the past account sure it dos get lost in the battles to rank and it wears you down but if you play again with lower ranks you do get the joy back .

i have had many accounts from gizmo down to starting rank and i find if your here to play and have friends playing with you then its a fun game but if your here only to get to top rank you loose the joy in the game and it ends up more of a contest to be the top to rank in less time ..

I have noticed it about myself but tanki is still fun but if has a goal and that's is to rank up and get now guns and hulls but if u don't join a very good battle it won't be fun cuz u won't get any thing o it of it but take a little break from tanki and come back it will be more fun it's what I do

Hmm. I still play battles for fun. I do choose among the listed battles, however, and I enter those in which I think much fun is expected - in short, I join battles in hope of joining an intense one.

I don't play XP, or to be precise, rarely play XP. I find XP only with generalissimos who most of the time are more experienced players than me, and it wears me off playing sandbox. I mean, it's good for practicing but I like large maps.

I also like a variety of weapons, XP battles with rail / smoky only are somehow restricted and less fun.

Basically, the point for me is that in the beggining I played just for fun. I had no other goals than having a good time. When I started to rank up but without buying upgraded tanks, I started to need maximize the crystals earned. Now, although I pay small amounts of real money, I still lack alot of items. For example, the items unlocked at my rank are worth more than a million crystals. Maybe two, although I wouldn't buy all the existing paints... How can I buy them? I can't. So I keep killing tanks, running towards next rank but without the ability to purchace the items of the given rank. That's a source of anxiety...kills the fun.

I don't imply anything, I don't propose anything, I just share...

If there was a score divider (opposite to score multiplier) 4-5 ranks ago, I would most certailny used it, so that I delay my rank up untill I get all the items I want...

Unfortunatelly I don;t have friends from real life, they find Tanki expensive hobby.

So, I can't play with them (which would be great if I could).

My clan, they are all generalissimos, they play only XP and clan wars but not as often as it would suit me... So, can't play normal battles with them, as well..

I am not talking about a consious decision (now I will play for fun, or now I will play for crystals) but a mood that slowly possesed me. In theory, I always go for the fun, but I find myself worried for the crystals. It's a poluted state of mind.

And I think it's Tanki's policy that causes it.

I completely agree. Near the mid ranks, you begin to concentrate solely on gaining a suitable amount of crystals per experience points earned in order to buy better equipment. But in the process, you fail to have as much fun as you did earlier. I still remember how much excited I was in the newbie ranks to rank up and play on new maps, see m3's and one day buy them myself. But somehow, the game isn't as exciting any more. The magic has worn off.

I like saving up and looking forward to stuff in the future, I had that even more as a newbie back in 2012.

Not that I don't need to upgrade anymore, but doing microupgrades just isn't as exciting as getting new M's.

Ohh well, the game has way more sources of fun, than just playing it.

The community is so important.

see m3's and one day buy them myself.

Exactly, seeing what the M3's were capable off and looking forward to the day you'll gain them yourself :D

Same here...

i personally think the devs should make crystals easier to get.... then instead of buying we could donate money to help them.... dont u think thats a good idea??

I used to have a lot of fun pre-rebalance and about a year after it. Then when I started this account, it became more of a race; a competition to climb up the rank ladder and buy the best equipment. After a while, I gave up on playing and found the forum :) . The forum has always been a fun and interesting place for me. Everyday, I meet new people, help them solve their in game or real life problems, and sometimes, take their help. In this way, I also get encouraged to keep playing and keep having fun :D

Very true, and then when you reach the top, it becomes a m4 and drugger wars. You earn more but also lose more.(Unless it's pro pass drugs deactivated) No wonder people say it's an expensive hobby and quit after reaching gismo or something.

I think and always have, that reaching the top changes the focal point of playing.

By top I mean not the generalissimo uprank but the point where one has aquired all the items one really wants and need no other.

Then, one can spend probably all their daily bonus plus the crystals earned in supplies, that's why I excuse top ranks from calling them druggers. Drug wars are IMO absolutely normal for generalissimos.

So, when all needs are met, then it's only about fun, I guess.

But the last third (if not the last half) of rank ladder is difficult in the concept of loss of joy.

Especially with how Daily Tasks are going to replace Daily Gifts, the gap between supply-users and no-supply users grow even WIDER.

And Tanki still doesn't try to implement ways to stop Mults and Hackers.

Drugs are overpowered, and fund is unfair for the losing team, especially the people who stay in battle.

Although with the upcoming Pause system they have, and the Daily Tasks, would it not ENCOURAGE multing even more?

The Pause system is self-explanatory. Already abused by Mults anyway.

But with the Daily Tasks, if they ask you to kill tanks with a certain turret, etc., it'd give people a pretty valid excuse to use an M0 item . . .

Then hop onto the enemy team fighting against your friend, and boom, Mult.

Not to mention if say, they wanted you to capture flags for a daily task, I'll bet there are going to be more flag beggars.

And those people who block your path when you have the flag, or flip you. Hmmm.

Yes it got a bit less fun, but nonetheless I like playing it when you're on the winning team. :D

What you are feeling is normal. Frustration takes over from fun the higher up the tanki ladder you go. Initially, you focus on getting the best garage possible. It's good to be able to switch mid battle or react to the a change your enemy has made. But the higher up you go, you find that you come up against a lot of maxed out combos. When you come up against a team of maxed out combos all using supplies then you might as well not play unless you yourself are part of an all drugging, maxed-out team. It goes even further than that too. Just to make your game play even more miserable, battles get rigged in addition. Ever been doing well in a 60 minute game only for a whole team of drugging m4's with maxed out paints to materialise out of nowhere in a blink of an eye? That's no coincidence. You've just been had and it happens all the time.

But Tanki themselves are doing us no favours with the constant chopping and changing of game balance and equipment. I could be wrong but I think this week has seen the first day since just before Halloween last year where the the peek server load has not risen above 100k. Tankers are not playing as much now as a result. Less players means less revenue and that's bad for the game's future.

Some of us knew this was coming and it's certainly no surprise to me. It will soon be crisis time for tanki again so prepare to see some short term fixes soon like x3 funds or something else like 50% of paypal / cards.  These measures are temporary band-aids but until they address fundamentals like cheating and mults, tanki will still be struggling to get over 100k peek server loads this time next year too.

The devs are trying to make this game fun for us, but like any other person, they are having some problems along the way. Some of the problems are, well, pretty big. I disagree with the choices they made with regards to updates such as Predictable Drops and the Updated Battle List, but I agree with some others.

While I have the opinion that Tanki is not as great as it was... like uh, 5 months ago? (I enjoyed Tanki during Oct 2014 very much :D) So anyway, there is still some fun left over and more experiences are coming along the way. As an average player, I can't do much, but wish you good luck (:
