There is a difference between liking and loving. Love does not depend on outer appearance. When you love someone you don't have to show it by taking them to big fancy restaurant or cinema. Love sometimes takes a long time to evolve. If two people have been together since long, they do develop a feeling of mutual emotional attraction towards each other. Love is a complex emotion; it cannot be defined by a single feeling. When you love someone, you will do anything to keep them happy, even if it means bidding them goodbye.

So, if you like a girl/boy, don't ask them out immediately. It will almost certainly result in break up and heartbreak.
