Reworking the Gold spots.

Recently, there was another update on Gold spots. What was the point of that and why nobody told us about that in the V-Log? Who knows...

 

Anyway, this topic is to talk about the new ridiculous spots devs added. I do not want to be offensive right, but some of the spots are really really ridiculous.

 

I found this picture on the new Gold drop location topic, it's the map Silence. Blue team has a huge advantage for Gold. Because a lot of spots are in base. And the spot underneath the ramp in red base, well it's just ridiculous lol.

 

Why did you do that? To make the Gold more random?

I mean, what is the point of that? Gold is total luck in that map now, total luck! You can't have it if it fall in the enemy base.

 

Iran, Gold falls in corners now. 

 

 

It's the same for Noise too, Gold falls in impossible corners loool.

 

Some maps are still good like Polygon, Arena, Sandbox or 2042.

On the other hand, Desert is a huge map with only 6 spots, all on middle?

Rio is one of the worst maps. It drops within feet of enemy flags, and drops all over the map, making it not even slightly skill and entirely luck.

Totally agree... gold drop zones should be redone.

The Gold Box is a random bonus that has been added to the game to make long and tedious matches a bit more exciting. It's not meant to be a big part of gameplay that requires a lot of thought and balancing to make it fair for all players. The general idea was to make it fair for all players, but still keep the competitive aspect of catching the gold box. With the current system if you are a professional at catching golds, then you will most likely catch at least half of all the golds you see where you manage to find the drop location. Newbies, on the other hand, are also able to get that box when it falls in a spot where only that one inexperienced player happened to be at the time.

 

If you want gold drop locations to be reduced to only ones in the centre or the delay time after the siren to be increased, then the professionals and heavy hulls will have a huge advantage as they will always be able to find the drop location and most of the time it will be one of them catching the gold. It won't be fair fair for light hulls and newbies, therefore it's best to keep it as it is now.

 

If you like catching Golds so much, then I suggest you play smaller maps (no larger than Polygon) to increase your chances of finding the gold drop location in the 20 seconds after the siren.

-_- I said I want the drop location do be reduced to one spot??? No. Before this update, Noise was a good map. 4 spots. Now there are 11 spots.

 

What I am saying is that the spots in base or near flag are a bad idea. Now, it's more luck than skills.

 

What I am suggesting is to rework the new locations, like this:

All the spot with a red line need to be removed. And I added to new spot on the blue bilboards. And the 2 billboards can be moved on the higher wall.

 

Now, this is my suggestion for Stadium and we can all discuss about it. We can do this for all reworked map.

 

I don't know for you guys, but it makes sense for me to remove those spots.

I understood what you meant. And I'm telling you - with the system that you are suggesting (make it so that the gold falls only in a few places in the centre of the map) you will end up with what we had before the predictable drops update: all potential drop locations occupied by heavy hulls, while light hulls and inexperienced players have little or no chance of catching the gold. It IS supposed to be luck-based, that's why there are so many drop locations now.

That is true. But the addition of gold drop zones has gotten ridiculous. There was an update in the past six weeks that added many drop zones to Stadium, Noise, Silence and other maps that really frenzied things. I don't think that the zones should be make like before predictable drops. But the developers shouldn't be adding drop zones left and right in big maps. I think that they should do some timing tests and figure out how many drop zones you can find in twenty seconds. In the map Polygon, things are perfect. You can always find where the goldbox is dropping, but heavy hulls don't have enough time to set up camping positions.

OK. That I'll agree with.

 

That means that the perfect delay is the minimum time it takes you to drive around the whole map and check every spot on Wasp M3+ with nitro. So for Sandbox it would be about 10 seconds, while for Dusseldorf it would be 50-80.

Absolutely wrong. Never happened in Noise before the update, for example.

 

Anyway, you seem so arrogant in your posts. Is that because of your avatar?

I'm just giving my opinion on this matter. I'm not saying "Everything you say is wrong and I'm better than you and I'll close this is I feel like it", I'm saying that what you are suggesting is what the game was like before the predictable drops update and back then it wasn't balanced as it didn't give everyone a fair chance at getting the gold box (by "fair chance" I mean chance of getting a gold box on average and not a particular instance of a gold box). The developers changed that system to be more fair and I can guarantee you that they aren't going to revert something they spent a lot of time on.

 

P.S.

I (or any other mod) could easily close this with a singe line, because Ideas regarding changes to the actual Tanki Online to its previous versions, or ideas regarding the removal of updates are not accepted, but I decided to discuss it with you instead.

Just for the record, even if a heavy hull does manage to find a drop zone, the first person on it hardly ever catches the gold, because light hulls will lag and glitch on top of them, and heavy hulls don't have the speed and maneuverability to shake them off In most instances.

You caricatured my point. By saying I just want one point.

 

Besides, I don't want this to be back to as previous version, I just say it needs to be reworked. Some spots are good, but the ones in base are not.

We all know that. I am not talking about a complete reversion, but an adjustment. As for the last part, I am very sure they spent a lot of time to lay this to us lol. We are still waiting for the nw kick system ^^

And also, in some maps like Polygon, Noise, Sandbox and more, the heavy hull just sit on the spot and sometime other players can jump on them or us a ramp to get on top of them, or as you said just lag on them.

I agree that the Silence drop should be removed (Only from team battles). But the one in Stadium gives people a challenge. But if people really hate it, maybe the ones on the sides should only be in DMs.

So do you think it's fair that the defender, who might be responsible for guarding the flag and/or has a whole bunch of mines placed so they can't afford to die, still has to go to the centre like everyone else and leave the base unguarded while they catch the gold box?

 

That was the main reason for adding drop locations on the bases - to give dedicated defenders a chance to catch the gold without having to risk losing the flag while they're away or losing their placed mines if they die in the central "gold brawl".

I thought you said the Gold Box was just a lucky bonus in battles anyway. :P

 

Well I have to agree there are way too many spots in bases right now. I can handles 1 or maybe 2 (depending on the map size) drop zones in bases to give defenders a chance but right now about there is about 2/5 of the spots in a base, now thats just too much IMO.

 

Anyway, its a shame newbies will never get the suspense of the Gold Box now. You know back when it was in a random spot and time. Those were the days.  ;)

Gold box is now more of 50%luck (whether you find the dropzone) + 20% luck (whether it is in your baseboard or in centre) +30% skill.

IMO, this is better as it increases the probability of any random player catching the gold. Due to gold dropping in team bases, players of both teams can now get it.

Gold drop locations in team bases are made so defenders (mammoth or titan ) can take it, but there is 70% gold taking chanse for attackers and 30% for defenders, pretty bad
